"This is gonna be easy," Dean said.
"No guards, right?" Roman asked.
"Nope," Dean said.
"And you're sure she doesn't have cameras?" Seth asked.
Dean turned his head and gave Seth a firm look.
"Cameras? Really, Seth? She's blind. You know that. Use your brain," Dean said.
"Sorry. I know that," Seth said. "How about an alarm?"
"If there's an alarm, I'll deal with it. I can destroy that shit in seconds," Dean said.
"But she'll wake up," Seth said.
"Then I'll deal with her too," Dean said.
"She's gonna wake up anyway. We need her to," Roman shrugged.
They walked up the private, gravel road leading to her house. Loni White lived on her own far away from everyone and everything. She was born blind but never let that slow her down. She was a talented musician, known for her skills when it came to playing guitar, piano and several types of flutes. She had earned the nickname the white lioness due to how fast she could play. It was like she attacked and didn't stop until she had won. She had played with everyone from big classic orchestras to lending her beautiful flutes to famous divas or her wicked guitar riffs to metal bands. She had been all around but had retired last year.
"Okay, let's get in there, find the bitch and get whatever money she might have lying around. And access to her bank account. We won't leave until we get what we want," Dean said.
Seth and Roman nodded at Dean. They were all in this together. This would be easy. With Loni being blind, she would never be able to identify them. And with her living out here on her own, no one would see or hear anything.
"Ready?" Dean asked.
"Ready," Seth and Roman said.
Dean lifted his crowbar and smashed one of the small windows in the front door. He reached his arm through and groaned when he cut himself by having to force it down as much as possible to reach the lock.
"Easy," Roman said.
"She'll fucking pay for this," Dean mumbled. "There, got it."
They heard the lock click and he moved his hand up to the door chain to unlock that too. He turned the door knob, and the door opened.
"Let's find the bitch," Dean said.
"Ssh," Roman shushed. "She might have heard us by now."
"I hear music," Seth whispered.
They all listened and indeed there was music playing. They followed the sound through the dark house until they reached the bedroom. Roman held a finger to his lips before entering as the first one. On the bed Loni was asleep. Music was playing from a stereo. They all stepped up to the bed and watched the sleeping woman lying on her back. Her shoulder long, white hair was a bit of a mess.
Roman held up his hand and counted to three with his fingers. They all grabbed her at the same time. She screamed in horror. Her pale, blue eyes flew open and stared into nothing. She would never be able to see them. Seth placed his hand on top of her mouth to make her be quiet. Dean grabbed her throat to show her he was in charge.
"Shut the fuck up!" Dean snarled. "We're here for money. Nothing else. Be a good girl and play along, and we'll be gone soon. Do you understand? Nod your head yes or no."
She nodded her head yes and he smirked despite her not being able to see it.
"Good girl," he said. "We need whatever you have in this house and access to your bank account. How the fuck does a blind person use an online bank?"
Seth removed his hand to allow her to speak.
"I got nothing in the house but my computer is in the living room. I use a braille keyboard and there's a program on my computer that reads out everything," Loni said.
"We don't need that. I'll happily read everything to you as long as I get the money," Dean said. "Get her up, boys."
Seth and Roman grabbed an arm each and pulled Loni up from the bed.
"And shut that fucking thing up!" Dean growled.
Seth kicked the stereo. It fell on the floor, and the music died. Roman chuckled at the overreaction.
"To the living room," Dean said.
Roman gave Loni a push and she started walking through the house with the three men behind her. Even if she would try to run, she wouldn't get far. She was blind while they could see. They would catch her in a heartbeat. She took them to the living room and felt her way around on the table for the laptop.
"Turn on the light," Dean said.
Roman walked back to the light switch on the wall. He turned on the light and grinned at Dean who was looking at him. Dean grinned back. Roman's grin faded. He opened his mouth to say something but never got that far. Dean turned his head just in time to see Loni slam the laptop over Seth's head. She made a run for it through the house. Dean chased after her while Roman ran to Seth's aid.
"Are you okay?" Roman asked.
"Fuck, that hurt," Seth said.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" Roman raised his hand.
"Four," Seth said. "I wanna hurt her so bad, Roman."
"So let's hurt her," Roman said. "Dean?"
"She's in the basement!" Dean yelled.
Roman grabbed Seth's wrist and pulled him back on his feet. The two men went to join Dean who was standing on top of the stairs leading from the kitchen down to the basement. He reached a hand inside and turned on the light for the basement.
"You can run but you can't hide!" Dean yelled. "We got full advantage here, boys. There's no escape from down there. We didn't even know this house has a basement. There's no windows down there. She's down there just waiting for us to find her."
"And we can see her," Roman smirked. "Sucks to be blind today."
The three men descended down the stairs and stopped in surprise.
"Wow," Roman said lowly.
"This place is huge. I've never seen a basement this big," Seth said.
"We'll find her," Dean said. "She knows her way around down here. Look everywhere and constantly make sure she can't get around us to go back to the stairs. The last thing we need is for her to lock us down here."
"Loni!" Seth yelled. "I'm gonna make you fucking pay for what you did to me! I'm gonna hurt you so bad, you fucking bitch!"
"You're starting to sound like me," Dean smirked. "Let's find her."
Roman placed his finger on his lips again. They all listened to try and figure out where she was. They could hear some sort of movement further in. He pointed and smirked. They all saw her run across the floor further down. That was the last thing they saw before the entire basement went pitch black.
"What the fuck?" Dean asked.
"Of course," Roman chuckled. "The relay is down here. Smart move, Loni. Real clever, baby girl. We're still gonna find you though."
"Form a wall so she can't get past us," Seth said.
"Loni?" Roman yelled. "Come on, baby girl! Why are you making it so hard on yourself? You know we'll find you!"
"This is my house!" Loni yelled.
The anger in her voice made all three men be quiet for a few seconds. They had expected fear and desperation but not this type of anger. It had seemed like an easy job robbing a blind woman. They forgot she didn't know any other type of world. And she had made sure they were now caught in her world. A world they didn't know how to navigate.
"Maybe we should go," Seth said.
"We are not letting some blind, little lion cub roar as if she can take us down. I don't give a fuck if it's her house. We're not leaving here without her money," Dean said.
Dean took a couple of steps into the darkness and then stood still. He reached behind him but couldn't find Seth or Roman.
"Guys?" Dean asked nervously.
"I'm here," Roman said.
"Why is your voice coming from over there?" Dean asked.
"I found the wall. I'm gonna follow it slowly. You should follow the other wall," Roman said.
"And leave me in the middle?" Seth asked. "Great fucking idea. It's not like it matters if I fall over something and break my legs."
"You're a fucking ninja, so go do ninja stuff over everything," Dean said.
"I think that was a compliment," Roman chuckled.
Dean found the wall, placed his hand on it and moved forward.
"Loni!" Dean yelled. "Where the fuck are you hiding, bitch?"
Too late they heard movement close to them. Seth made a weird sound of pain, and then they heard something heavy land on the floor.
"Seth?" Roman asked nervously. "Seth, say something."
"I don't like this," Dean said.
"We need to find him," Roman said.
Roman went down on all four and started crawling over the floor to where he had heard Seth. He gasped when he grabbed Seth's foot.
"Seth!" Roman yelled. "Wake up!"
Roman crawled up Seth's body while feeling his way forward. He reached Seth's neck and then pulled his hand back in fear.
"What the fuck is that?" Roman yelled.
"What is it?" Dean asked.
"Something wet. Like blood. I think he's bleeding, Dean," Roman said.
"Oh, hell no!" Dean growled. "Wake him up!"
Roman tried shaking Seth but there was no response. He moved his hands to Seth's neck again and felt his way forward.
"Oh my god," Roman said. "Dean, he's dead. I can feel a giant hole in his neck. She split him open with something."
"What? Don't be silly. He's just knocked out," Dean said.
"He's fucking dead, Dean!" Roman yelled.
Roman stood up in anger. He wanted his hands on Loni right this second and strangle her to death.
"Where are you at, bitch?" Roman yelled.
Roman held out his hands, trying to find something to hold on to. Once again they heard something too late. A sharp pain went into Roman's chest.
"Roman?" Dean asked.
Roman placed a hand on the object and felt what it was.
"An axe," Roman said lowly. "She's got an axe."
The axe was pulled out of his chest and then planted once more into him. Dean heard Roman's body crash to the floor.
"Roman?" Dean asked. "What did you do to him?"
He held his breath to try and listen for her in the darkness. She was just as quiet as him. He blew out his breath and nodded.
"So it's just you and me, I guess," he said. "Put down that axe and face me, you coward."
"This is my house!" She said firmly.
He turned around in the darkness towards her voice and threw a punch in the air. He was hoping to hit her but she wasn't there.
"Show yourself!" He yelled.
"I'm right here," she said. "The white lioness stalking her prey."
He turned towards her voice again and tried with another punch that caught nothing but air.
"Stop moving around!" He snarled. "I'm gonna get you! I'm gonna fucking hurt you like you've never been hurt before!"
"This is my house," she almost whispered.
Her voice came from right behind him. He spun around as fast as he could but before he could even try to throw another punch, she planted the axe into his forehead. She felt the handle slide out of her hands as his body crashed down on the floor. She made her way through the darkness and up the stairs to the kitchen again. She kept walking until she reached her bedroom where her phone was. She picked up her phone and sat down on the bed.
"Dial 911," she said.
As soon as she had said those words, she started sobbing. It finally hit her what had just happened.
"911, what's your emergency?" A man asked.
"This is my house," she cried.
"Hello? Ma'am, are you okay? Do you need help?" He asked.
"Yes, I need help," she said. "They broke into my house. I think I killed them. I can't be sure. I'm blind. They're down in my basement. Shit, I forgot to lock the door. I need to lock the door," she said.
"Ma'am?" He asked. "Can you tell me your address?"
She hurried back to the kitchen, slammed the door and locked it. She leaned her back against the door and slid down to sit on the floor. She was safe. She doubted they had survived, but if they did, they were locked away. Help would come soon enough.
"Ma'am? Hello?" He asked.
She moved the phone up to her ear again.
"This is my house," she said lowly. "This is my fucking house."
