Summary
Eddie never liked mornings. He never thought himself as a morning person. Never saw why some people enjoyed them. It was always just a necessity for him. Until he experienced mornings with RichieMornings
Eddie never liked mornings. He never thought himself as a morning person. Never saw why some people enjoyed them. It was always just a necessity for him. First when he was younger, he had to be up early for school and then in collage out of habit he scheduled all morning classes in hopes there would be less people in attendance then for work as an adult. As a child he found mornings stressful with his mother almost every morning trying to convince him he was too sick to attend school as well as bothering him about making sure he had all his medication on him at all times and not to play rough with the other children. The short amount of time he lived on his own his mornings were cold and kind of lonely and boring. After marrying Myra, it didn't get much better, she always complained that he left to early for work for her to wake up and would complain if he even tried to wake her for a goodbye. To counter the loneliness in the morning he started going to the gym most mornings and that made it slightly more bearable. After the events with the clown the second time around he moved in with Richie and at first, they had separate rooms until both got their act together as Stan put it and confessed how they felt about one another. While in separate rooms Eddie had a quiet easy morning routine as to not disturb Richie so early in the morning. After they started sharing a bed Eddie kept up the routine to not bother Richie but, on most mornings, still left the house with a sleepy kiss and smile goodbye. On his first morning back to the gym about 20 minutes into his workout he receives a text from Richie asking why he was gone so early already. Eddie responds with a selfie in the mirror at the gym sayings
"Started back to them gym since the doctor has released me." A few minutes later he gets a response in the form of a selfie of Richie still in bed eyes looking above the camera unfocused without his glasses telling him
"You should have slept in a bit longer than woke me up and I could have worked you out. Like worked you out really good" Eddie laughs and tells him he is well aware how well he can work him out and that maybe tomorrow.
He reads Richie's response of "I'm going to hold you to that and also maybe wear those shorts too" He follows through with his promise the next morning and he spends his morning before work getting his heart rate up and breaking a sweat without ever leaving the bed. Afterwards he heads to the shower to get ready, and Richie goes to fix breakfast for them. Most of his non gym mornings after that find Richie making them breakfast while Eddie gets ready for work. Eddie is now starting to see the appeal to mornings as he leaves the bathroom, he can hear music playing in the kitchen as he makes his way down the stairs stopping in the doorway watching Richie at the counter in just his boxers and mismatched sock and his hair still sticking up at odd angles. That's another thing he has learned he enjoys about mornings with Richie is not worrying about what you are wearing. While he was married to Myra, she had a house rule that before leaving the bedroom you needed to be dressed or covered with a housecoat even on his days off while trying to have a lazy day which he never really got with her as she always found something for him or them to do. Whereas Richie will convince Eddie to stay in bed as long as possible maybe making it to the couch by noon only then to just lounge around some more all while never putting on pants. He fairly sure Richie has went almost a full week without actually putting on real pants. Not that he is complaining. He walks up wrapping his arms around Richie from behind mumbling a good morning into his shoulder.
"Morning spaghetti. Strawberry?" he asks and offers a bite on a fork from the pile he's cut up for their pancakes. He gives Eddie a lopsided kiss to the side of his head after Eddie take the fruit from the fork. "Coffee is made, and a cup is waiting for you on the table." Richie tells his turning around giving him a proper kiss good morning.
Another bonus to mornings with Richie is the routine they have on the morning Richie has something to do with work or errands or whatever causes him to leave the house. On these morning Richie will join Eddie for his morning shower. They will head out and grab breakfast on the way sometimes in a little café Eddie has found or make a stop at a drive though and eat in the car in the parking lot of Eddie's work. This is Eddie's favorite way to spend these mornings exchanging coffee flavored kisses until the very last-minute Eddie has to pull himself away for work with promises of a movie and take out later. Also, on those days Richie picks Eddie up from work in the evening usually already in lounge around clothes or jeans and a t shirt if he plans to take Eddie somewhere. But this day when he picks Eddie up Richie is wearing a suit, a really nice suit.
"what's up with the suit?" Eddie asks as he slides in the passenger seat.
"I made us reservations" is all the information he gives Eddie with a smirk from the driver's seat.
"But like where? Because you've made plans for us before and never dressed this nice."
"I've worn a suit before for a dinner" Richie protests.
"Yea but like you are wearing dress shoe and all, even when you've worn a suit before you had on converse and a fucking hideous tie. You are wearing a plain black tie! Plain! This is a nice look" Eddie tells him with a wave of his hand "like a really nice look. You look really fucking hot a I can't wait to get this off of you hot." Eddie runs his hand over his thigh.
"Well, you'll have to wait because these are special plans" Richie tells him taking his hand and lacing their fingers together and leaning over and giving Eddie a kiss at a red light.
A special dinner indeed it was. Eddi leaves the restaurant even more in love than he has even been with a ring on his finger that promises many more enjoyable mornings and days ahead.
