Hello! This is my very first fanfic. I made this because of the part in the Friends reunion when Jen and David said they were "crushing hard" on each other. It made me want to imagine what it was like during that time when they were younger and they were the biggest flirts. And I apologize in advance if my grammar sucks or anything. English isn't my first language. Anyway… Enjoy! 😊
September 1994
"But I don't WANT to be single, okay? I just… I just- I just wanna be married again."
David (as Ross) reads from his script.
"Rachel enters in a wet wedding dress and starts to search the room", the director, James Burrows, narrated the scene. "And I just want a million dollars!" Matthew (as Chandler) shouted. Everyone in the room laughed. "Rachel?", Courteney (as Monica) asked.
"Oh God, Monica, Hi! Thank God! I just went to your building and you weren't there and then this guy with a big hammer said you might be here and you are, you are!" Jennifer (as Rachel) said.
It was the first table read for the first episode of Friends. They were all young (all in their 20s), good-looking, and very talented. James Burrows knows that THIS SHOW will become a success.
(Later)
"You know you probably didn't know this but back in high school I had a uh… major crush on you.", David said nervously, because that's how he thinks Ross should say it.
"I knew", Jen said softly.
"You did! Oh… I always figured you just thought I was Monica's geeky older brother".
"I did!".
"Oh!", he said with a bit of embarrassment in his voice.
"Listen, do you think- and try not to let my intense vulnerability become any kind of a factor here- but do you think it would be okay if I asked you out? Sometime? Maybe?".
"Yeah… Maybe.", she said with a warm smile. He smiles back. He's trying not to make his blush too obvious.
"Okay… Okay, maybe I will…", he said. Jen giggles. 'He's cute', Jen thought.
...
A few days later, back in stage 24, the crew and directors were very busy for the shooting of the first episode. A few men are arranging the props to a coffee shop called 'Central Perk'. Then an orange couch made its way to the middle of the set.
The cast were all in one side, reviewing their lines.
James burrows called them and told them to sit on the orange couch.
"Okay, I just want to say, that good luck to all of you. I hope that this show will be great. And I hope all of you will be good friends. Not just on the show.", James said to them. "Happy first episode".
He smiled to them and left.
"Hey, uh… Jennifer, right?" David said to Jennifer, who was beside him on the couch.
"Yes, but you can call me Jen."
Jen is a very sweet, friendly, and beautiful lady. David is tall, smart, but a very gentle man.
"And you're David Schwimmer?".
"Yes.", David said softly. He's blushing again.
"I saw you in Blossom".
"What? Really? That's-That's great!". He didn't see that coming. He didn't even expect anyone to see him on anything he's been in.
"You were so good", she said with the sweetest smile.
"Ah, thank you." His cheeks are becoming red.
Then the director called them. "Okay, places everyone!"
David and Jen got off the couch and the rest of the cast went into their positions for the very first scene.
When the scene was done, it was time for Ross to come in.
"Okay, this is me." David said nervously.
"Relax, you're gonna be great.", Jen said in the most supportive way she can.
He took a deep breath. "Okay… uh… Okay! Thank you, Jen!", then he ran behind the couch with an umbrella on his hand.
"And… ACTION!"
"Hi…" David said as Ross. It was a depressing "hi". He figured he would say it that way because of what Ross has been through.
As the scene went on, Jennifer was watching him with admiration in her eyes. 'he's so good'.
