"It's such a beautiful afternoon." Kara said, she and Alisha sat in her backyard with a bottle of wine. It was a perfect 74 degree spring day with a light breeze. It was great to be home and decompressing with her best friend after a long deployment.
"I'm so glad winter is over. Hey, where are the boys?" Alisha asked.
"Danny took Frankie and Halsey for a walk. Hopefully it will burn off their excess energy." Kara said she was exhausted. Danny and Frankie had tried to cram 6 months of love and attention in the first 48 hours of her entering the house. It was a lovely yet intense experience for her.
"It does seem to be boundless. How is Danny acclimating to civilian life?" Alisha asked.
"I think he's doing ok, but it's only been 6 months. It's too soon to say." Kara told her, she didn't want to say it in case she jinxed them. But Kara had a feeling she and Danny were going to be ok.
"He did a great job with the backyard. The flowers are beautiful." Alisha said, Kara smiled as she looked at the flowers around them.
"He did, he and Frankie garden together. It's really adorable. Danny sent me pictures of it while I was at sea. They sat down and designed it all, did the research and worked on it together. Well, Danny did all the work while Frankie picked the flowers." Kara said, she was so proud of her husband and son.
"You really lucked out with Danny. He's the only man I know who actually does what he says he's gonna do. I bet the PTA Moms love him." Alisha said.
"They do and it's disgusting how they all swarm around like he's a celebrity." Kara said in disgust, she hated the PTA moms and the feeling was mutual as they disapproved of her. Alisha laughed gleefully. "It's not funny." Kara told her.
"It is, because he's literally your rose among the thorns of the PTA." Alisha said with a grin.
"Oh, don't make me cut you off." Kara told her.
