AN: Welcome friends to Kamen Rider Idetsu, a new story written in collaboration with my friend Mr_Memerald. This idea took shape when he bet me to watch every episode of My Hero Academia and in return he'd watch Kamen Rider Kiva and Ultraman Tiga. While watching MHA I thought of how interesting the hero society is and how well it would work for a Kamen Rider season, and thus Idetsu was born. But MHA is only the jumping off point, hopefully we'll be changing things up enough that only the basis will be clear and everything else will be original. Without further ado let's get into it, ENJOY!

Kamen Rider Idetsu

Issue 1: The Hero is Here

Listen, the sound of a motorcycle could be heard as a man with black hair rode along an empty road. His hair blowing in the wind as he revved up his motorcycle, suddenly wind began to circle around him as he was transformed, revealing a grasshopper looking warrior,

"80 years ago, Kamen Rider 1 first appeared. Takeshi Hongo was just the beginning though, now in the present day Kamen Rider's have become apart of the world's society and infrastructure."

Kamen Rider 1 leapt from his bike and proceeded to fly down with a kick as his boot hit the ground, causing a massive dust cloud to overtake everything.

2032

A boy no older than 3 looked at a TV as the sounds of battle could be heard on screen. He was jumping up and down from excitement as he watched what was on the screen, holding an action figure of Kamen Rider Kuuga as he pointed at the TV, "Mommy look there's a Kamen Rider fighting on TV, he's beating all the bad guys."

His mother came over, patting his black haired head and smiling, "That's right Kohei, you seem to be a pretty big fan of his." The toddler, Kohei nodded vigorously at the gold and blue colored Kamen Rider on TV, "He's the best, he always arrives and declares he'll beat the bad guys and then gives a thumbs up to show it's going to be all better, hey Mommy what's his name?"

His mother smiled and looked at the screen, "Says on TV his name is Kamen Rider Maiti, according to news people he's pretty popular around the world." Kohei began to jump up and down again before posing as he saw Maiti doing on TV, "Maiti! I'm gonna be his biggest fan and when I grow up I'm gonna be just like him!" His Mother smiled and picked up her son, "That's a big goal Kohei, you sure you're up for it?"

Kohei nodded "I want to make sure that everyone has a smile on their faces when I save them, just like Maiti!" His Mother nodded at her son's claims, happy to just listen to him ramble as he continued to watch the Kamen Riders on TV

2050(Present Day)

The roar of a motorcycle could be heard as a young man rode along the city streets, scanning the surroundings as he drove. He stopped at a light as he patiently waited for it to turn green, "2050, 80 years after Kamen Riders began to appear in Japan.

Soon they branched out across the world and they became ingrained in the very fabric of our society. There are hundreds of Riders now, all divided into 3 power classifications, biological, mythic and tech. I managed to achieve my childhood dream, I became a rider myself, but despite what my mother insists I'm still not as great as the most famous and strongest of all the riders, Maiti."

He sighed as he got a call and answered it from within his helmet, "This is Gushiken go ahead." A location appeared on a heads up display as he heard a voice in his ear, "Kohei, there's someone requesting help about a block away, figured you could go since you're right there, I'll meet you over there."

Kohei nodded at the female voice and revved the engine of his bike, "If someone needs help then I'll be there right away!" The light turned green and he sped down the road, intent on going to help whoever needed him.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Kohei frowned within his helmet as he reached for the cat meowing at the top of its lungs, "Ok just don't move and I can get the both of us out of this tree." He managed to get the cat before it clawed at him, resulting in him losing his balance and falling out of the tree and right onto the ground, landing straight on his back.

He winced slightly, thankfully he was mostly protected from minor falls like that. The little girl who owned the cat ran up and happily grabbed the cat, "Mr. Meowgi you're ok! Don't you ever run off like that again, you hear me Mr" Kohei picked himself up and gave a thumbs up to the little girl, "Be more careful with your cat ok? Now go have a great day."

The little girl nodded, "Thank you Mr. Idiotsu" Kohei winced at her comment as she ran away singing to her cat, "It's Idetsu" He heard a chuckle from behind as a young woman with black hair with a part of it dyed red approach him, "You know you're lucky she got even close to it."

Kohei removed the stone from within his belt, his rider form dispelling around him as he frowned, "Yeah but I've been at this for 3 months now, I was hoping my name would be more out there by now." The woman shrugged at him, "What can you do, it took my dad 6 months before he even got a tiny mention in the news, you just gotta be patient. Besides, you aren't doing this for attention."

Kohei nodded, "I know that but I feel so small, how can I help people if I can barely get noticed." The woman sighed, "You're just starting out, every rider has to start somewhere but I'm sure it'll change soon, after all I think you're pretty cool."

Kohei smiled at her, "Thanks Kei I appreciate it, hey have you heard from your Dad after he got back from America yesterday?" She shook her head as Kohei watched her walk towards his bike, this was Kei Genda, his assistant. In order to become an official Kamen Rider he had to have an assistant, they helped with evacuating civilians, save them if they're injured and whatever else he may need in order to fight evil and save lives.

Kei was cheerful and kind, she was almost a mentor to him especially considering who her Dad was, "Nah you know my Dad, he's in Maiti mode until Sunday's, you know the day where he says no Rider stuff so he can spend time with me."

Kohei nodded and walked after her, "Well I guess I should expect criminals to be quiet then if they know Maiti is in town." Kei shrugged and grabbed her helmet from his bike, "You never know with criminals, now come on we've been at this for half the day and we haven't eaten yet, lunch my treat."

Kohei nodded and got on the bike, maybe she was right, a rider had to start somewhere but he just wished he was able to help more people quicker than it was taking.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

It was later in the day and what seemed to be a normal street corner was suddenly turned upside down as the windows broke on a jewelry store, causing glass to scatter everywhere. Multiple men began to exit, carrying bags of jewels as they laughed, "See I told you boys this would be an easy score, no riders are showing up."

The others laughed until they heard a voice from in front of them, "Think again criminals! For I am here to stop you." The criminals turned to see Kohei standing there, raising an eyebrow at him, "And you are?" Kohei put his hands on his hips and tried to pose heroically, "Kamen Rider Idetsu, the rider who will bring you to justice."

The criminals stared at him for a moment before laughing, "You? You just seem like a kid, plus what's with that catchphrase it's so cliche." Kohei sighed, "Look I'm working on it ok? Just drop the jewels and we don't have to fight."

The criminals laughed again and shook their heads, "No dice kid, now why don't you run along and bring back someone else who we might actually take seriously like ... .Mai Mait MAITI?!" The criminals began to drop the bags as Kohei turned around and sure enough clad in shining gold and blue there was Kamen Rider Maiti standing behind him saluting, "HELLO GENTLEMEN FANCY MEETING YOU HERE!"

Even Kohei felt starstruck as the criminals began to surrender and the sound of an approaching police car could be heard, "Maiti? What are you doing here?" Maiti let out a loud laugh as he crossed his arms, "Well I wanted to see how my pupil was doing since I just got back from America."

The criminals all looked at Kohei in astonishment, "That kid is your pupil?" Maiti laughed again before placing a large hand on Kohei's shoulder, "That's right, I've been training him myself!" Kohei frowned underneath his helmet as they waited for the police to arrive.

How long until he wasn't just a kid or Maiti's pupil? It didn't take long for the police to show up and after arresting the criminals and all of them fanboying over Maiti the two of them were finally left alone as Kohei turned to Maiti, "So Maiti what did you need this late in the day?"

Maiti chuckled as he put another hand on Kohei's shoulder, "I wanted to invite you to patrol with me! After all It's been awhile, I wanted an update on your progress." Kohei nodded and followed the larger man, still confused on why he was there just to patrol with him. Still, if you had told him two years ago that Kamen Rider Maiti, his hero since he was 3, would be calling him his pupil he wouldn't have believed it.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Kohei wiped the blood from his lip as he walked down the dimly lit street. He knew trying to be a rider without any powers would be tough but he didn't think he'd be getting his ass kicked in every fight. He'd studied every Kamen Rider since Takeshi Hongo himself, he knew their battles, their exploits, being a rider nerd he thought he could do it too.

He once remembered hearing from Maiti himself on TV that being a Rider only took heart and determination. Well he had both but he must've missed the part about their being needed powers, and a belt involved. He knew he should've listened to his mother but here he was out getting beat up, because he had a desire to help people.

Still it didn't matter, if he could save people with a smile on his face then he would. As he walked he suddenly heard a shout from an alleyway, deciding to go see what was going on he ran towards it. Finding a common scene, a woman who looked about his age, with black hair with a red streak and wearing a white coat looking down the barrel of the gun.

The criminal concealing his identity as he sneered at her, "You think I don't know who you are? Well where's your Daddy now as I'm about to blow your brains out." Nothing went through Kohei's head, he instantly ran at the attacker from behind, punching him into a wall and began to wrestle the gun from his hands.

The criminal dropped the gun as Kohei managed to give him another good punch, sending him to the ground unconscious. Kohei turned to the stunned girl and smiled at her, "Are you ok?" She nodded slowly, "Who are you?"

Kohei bent down to pick up the gun just in case the criminal woke up, "I'm Kohei Gushiken, just someone trying to do good in the world. Who are you?" She smiled slightly and stuck her hand out, "Kei Genda, that man was trying to kill me so thanks for saving me."

Kohei shook her hand and smiled, "You don't seem very threatening, why would he want to kill you?" Kei frowned, "Because who my father is, wait you aren't a Kamen Rider or anything?" Kohei shook his head, "Nope just trying to help even without a Rider system, wait who's your father that they'd want to kill you?"

Before he could get an answer he heard something land behind him causing him to turn around, "HELLO YOUNG MAN, DID YOU BY CHANCE SAVE MY DAUGHTER KEI?" Kohei felt his nerves leave him as the one standing before him was his childhood hero, "M-M-M-Maiti?" Kamen Rider Maiti gave him a little salute, "Yes it is I! Kamen Rider Maiti!"

Kei sighed, "Dad can you drop the act please, this is Kohei he saved me without being a rider." Kohei watched as Maiti seemed to have relaxed a little bit and turned towards her, "Well I'm glad you're ok, thank you young Kohei, if anything happened to my beloved daughter I would be beside myself with grief."

Kohei chuckled nervously as Maiti put out his hand out to shake his hand, "It's uh no problem Kamen Rider Maiti, I mean Maiti, I'm happy to help anyone in need." Maiti shook his hand and let out a loud belly laugh, "I see you're nervous, you must be a fan of mine, don't worry I don't bite.

Though I do have to ask what are you doing going around trying to fight crime without any abilities." Kohei frowned and scratched the back of his head, "Oh uh, well I guess I always grew up with a dream to save people, to give them hope you know, I wanted to try doing that even without anything special about me. I just thought that even if it's lower level stuff I could help the world."

Maiti nodded and put a hand on his shoulder, "A noble goal but I must say, please leave it to us Riders, I'd hate to think what may happen one day if you continue on this path. Come along Kei, I'll escort you home." Kei nodded and began to walk after him, smiling and glancing at Kohei, "Thank you Kohei, I won't forget this but please listen to my father."

Kohei frowned as they walked away, he began to feel tears in his eyes as all the years of feeling useless and helpless began to surface as he finally called out to Maiti, "MAITI WAIT! You once said that anyone can be a Rider, as long as they have heart and determination. So I have to know, can I be a Kamen Rider, CAN I BE A RIDER WITHOUT THERE BEING ANYTHING SPECIAL ABOUT ME?!"

Maiti paused for a moment and turned around, gazing at the crying Kohei as he fell to his knees, lost in his emotions. He began to walk over towards him, removing something from his belt as he knelt down, a light enveloping him briefly. Kohei looked up to see an older man with a black stubble and slicked back black hair save for one long strand looking down at him.

He smiled and put a hand on Kohei's shoulder, "Yes, I do believe that anyone can be a hero, as long as they have the true spirit of a Kamen Rider, then it does matter if you're powerless or not." Kohei nodded and stood up, looking up at his hero who wasn't as muscular or tall as he expected, "Then please understand, I have to keep going how I am currently." Maiti shook his head, "Young Kohei I cannot allow that, that is why I can make you an offer."

Kohei wiped the tears from his eyes and locked eyes with Maiti, "What is it?" Maiti held up his driver towards him, "I can make you my successor. I am the latest in a long line of Riders possessing the Tornado System, a rider system that changes and grows with every new user. I can pass this system on to you, and you can become a rider."

Koehi blinked as he nodded slowly, "You'd make me your successor?" Maiti nodded as Kei watched the two, a small smile on her face, her father couldn't have found a better candidate to be his successor.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Present Day

Kohei walked side by side with Maiti as they patrolled along the streets, he was a bit better than he was two years ago interacting with Maiti, but he still felt butterflies in his stomach when being with his childhood hero. Maiti treated him like the son he never had, which he appreciated but his constant attempts to get him and Kei together wore a bit thin sometimes.

As he watched people run up and ask Maiti for autographs he sighed, "Maiti, I know it's only been two years but I don't feel like a real hero, I feel stuck in place and I wish I could do more." Maiti chuckled and put an arm around him, "Well I'm sure you've been told this already but every Rider has to start somewhere, it took me a long time before I was facing any real threats."

Kohei nodded, "I know but, I just feel like if I can't prove myself then I'd be a waste as your successor." Maiti shook his head, "That's where you'd be wrong. You'd never be a waste, for you see according to my predecessor herself, the tornado system only chooses those who are worthy, so even if there's something you cannot see, the system does."

Kohei looked down at his belt, "But what if I don't find out until it's too late?" Maiti stopped walking and turned to him, "Kohei you're now part of a long line of Riders who've passed this power down for more than 3 generations, you are worthy regardless of how you feel. Just be patient young Kohei, your time as the hero will come and you'll surpass me as all students are meant to." Kohei looked at his teacher and nodded, "Thank you Mai… I mean Kenta."

Kohei smiled slightly, he always forgot that Maiti wanted him to call him by his real name, seeing as the two were teacher and student. Maiti put a finger to the side of his helmet and sighed, "I'm sorry to cut our conversation short Kohei but it seems I'm needed elsewhere. Remember don't give up and keep believing in the justice you want to spread to the world. Oh and remember to come to dinner on Sunday, I need to get you and Kei together so you can officially be my son!"

Kohei nodded as he ran off, summoning his Rider Machine and leaving him in the dust. Perhaps Maiti was right, there was something worthy about him even if he didn't see it.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Kohei sat in his base of operations and crossed his arms. Every rider had a base of operations, he was no different but it also doubled as his apartment since it was either that or live with his mother.

As he pondered what Maiti had told him, Kei walked into the room and waved at him, "Hey I'm gonna head out for the night, everything ok?" Kohei shook his head, "I'm thinking about the conversation your dad and I had earlier and I'm trying to figure out why the tornado system would pick someone like me as your Dad's successor."

Kei shrugged at his comment, "There's plenty of reasons but you gotta figure that out on your own." Kohei nodded and sighed, "Still I'm sure there were a lot of better options for your dad to pick than me. I still don't know why he didn't pick you, considering he's had you trained to fight since you were a kid."

Kei went silent and gripped her arm with her hand, "I told you before there's reasons I don't want to get into, too painful for me and him." Kohei nodded, "Right sorry for bringing it up, still I wish I knew what's so worthy about me." Kei smiled softly at him, "All I'll say is that you've said it yourself before, it's not about physical abilities, it's about what's inside that counts."

Kohei smiled to himself, that was true, what mattered was wanting to save people and bring hope where he could. As he waved goodnight to Kei he wouldn't help but laugh to himself, he wondered what Maiti's predecessor was like and what the boisterous rider was like as a rookie.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Kohei rushed forward as he went to try and punch Maiti, or as he now knew in human form, Kenta Genda. He had been training with his hero for 6 months and he was close to being ready to receive the tornado system. Maiti blocked the punch and smiled, "Hmmm not bad, more strength in the blow than there was 6 months ago."

Kohei smiled, seeing his opponent distracted and went for a leg sweep, completely throwing him off guard and knocking him down, allowing Kohei to jump back a bit and put some distance between the two.

Maiti chuckled and got up, dusting himself off as he held up a hand, "Alright that's enough, I think you're ready." Kohei stared in disbelief as Maiti removed a small disc from his pocket and held it up, "In order to transfer my power I must insert this Hero Disc into you, in doing so it will bring forth your own power, spawning your driver and whatever trinket you may use to transform. Every time this happens the power takes on a different form, my predecessor had Hero Coins, I have Hero Discs and the Maiti Driver."

He held up the disc to Kohei's heart and slowly began to insert it, causing Kohei to feel a strain as Maiti frowned, "The process isn't completely painless but just stay strong, one last piece of advice, there are rules all riders must follow. Never attack in anger, never use your powers for revenge, and always have justice in your heart.

Follow these rules and the tornado system will never leave you powerless." Kohei felt a bright light go around his waist before it materialized, forming a silver driver with a small navy stone in the middle, with a gold ring around the stone. There were a few buttons on the side of the driver but besides that it seemed fairly simple. Maiti smiled as Kohei stood up to full height, "Now all that's left is your name."

Kohei smiled as he removed the small stone from the driver, gazing into it, "Idetsu, I will make this inherited power my own, and become a rider who can save people with a smile on his face."

Maiti nodded and smiled, "One last piece of advice then Kamen Rider Idetsu, no matter what always shout Henshin at the top of your lungs with determination and positivity, so those around you will know that it is now safe because you have entered the battle."

Kohei nodded with determination and positivity, he could do that, he would be a rider who brings hope to everyone and made them feel safe by his very presence.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Present Day

Screams could be heard as a bat-like creature laughed triumphantly, "DESTROY, DESTROY, DESTROY!" As he caused explosions with lasers coming from his eyes, the young elementary students ran as he destroyed their school.

Nearby a news crew was filming the action as the reporter talked into a microphone, "This is horrible, we're live as this a mysterious bat creature has appeared, not caring about whatever destruction it causes as these helpless students flee in terror. We're left wondering, where is a Kamen Rider when you need them?"

Almost answering her question, Kohei appeared riding his rider machine as he nodded at Kei who quickly got off the bike, "Get everyone out of here and try to keep the perimeter clear, I don't know what this guy is capable of." Kei nodded as she ran, trying to rescue students as the bat monster turned towards her, "DESTROY!"

Before he could fire a laser Kohei ran and kicked him in the chest, sending him back, "Your fight is with me, you won't hurt anyone else." He placed a hand on his belt buckle, causing his driver to appear in a flash of light as he removed his hero stone from his pocket, "As long as I am here you won't hurt a single soul."

He placed the stone in the driver and slammed his fists together, breathing and out for a moment before pressing a button on the side of his driver, "HENSHIN!" He was enveloped in a silver light as a silver bodysuit formed over him before navy armor materialized, navy horns appeared on both sides of his head looking like a stag beetle and the navy stone appeared on his chest, surrounded by a gold ring,

"Power Up! Strength in beetle! Inherited! Ideals! Idetsu SMASH! The HERO is here!"

Idetsu cracked his knuckles, his fists being on the larger side as if he was wearing specialized gloves for punching, "I'm Kamen Rider Idetsu and I will defeat you with a smile of justice!" The reporter turned to see him and looked at the camera, "It seems a rider has arrived, but I don't recognize him, he may be new but his name seems to be Idetsu, let's see how he handles this fight shall we?"

The bat creature turned its head to the side and growled, "RIDER!" It flew at Idetsu who charged at it, dodging a hit from it and punching it directly in the chest, causing a shockwave and sending it flying back, "I won't allow you to hurt any of these people here, even if I get hurt myself."

The bat screeched, firing a laser at Idetsu who got hit in the shoulder and flinched before running forward, his fists glowing navy as he delivered several more punches, sending the bat creature on the defensive as it tried to avoid his attacks. Idetsu let out a breath and chuckled softly, "Sorry but I'm gonna try to finish this quickly as this power of mine still tires me out quickly."

The bat screeched again as it took another punch, grabbing onto Idetsu and beginning to fly upwards, taking the rookie rider with him. Idetsu said nothing as he kept his smile under his helmet, pressing a button on his belt as his fists glowed and so did his chest, "Time to finish you off!" He grabbed the bat and quickly flipped him around, sending him towards the ground as he charged up one last punch, "RIDER SMASH!"

He glowed navy as he rode with the bat to the ground, the impact strengthening the punch as they landed, causing a small crater. Everyone in the area paused for a moment as police sirens could be heard, the reporter motioning towards the camera man, "Make sure to get a good shot of this."

There standing in the crater was Idetsu standing on top of the unconscious bat creature, an arm raised in victory as the nearby students began to cheer. Kei came towards the crater and smiled, "You know usually a rider is supposed to cause less collateral damage, but not bad for a first big fight."

Idetsu chuckled as he hauled the unconscious bat out of the crater, the news crew going to meet him, "Sir that was very impressive, we've never seen you before so you must be a rookie."

Idetsu nodded as they began to interview him, it felt weird but also right in a way, this was just the beginning but maybe he was starting to understand what Maiti and the tornado system saw in him after all.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

The TV was showing Idetsu's battle with the bat creature as a loud yell could be heard. A woman with short brown hair entered the room, raising an eyebrow at the watcher, "What the hell is your problem now Nobuhiko?"

No response was given as a shot rang out from the person watching, destroying the TV with a single bullet as the watcher got up off the couch angrily, "That bastard! He thinks he can become a rider and steal away the spotlight, we're going to show him." The woman raised an eyebrow as her companion left the room, unsure of what had just happened.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Meanwhile another man was watching the same battle, looking on as a woman with white hair sat down next to him, "You ok Toya? You seem to be really into the rider who's on TV."

The man nodded as he gazed at a crystal hung up around his neck, "That Rider, Idetsu, I've seen him in my dreams, he's the one who'll help me reach my goal." The woman looked at the TV in awe, wondering how Idetsu would help him with his one goal in the world.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Maiti collapsed in an alleyway as he walked away from the scene of a large battle. Things like that didn't bother him as much as it did now as he felt his form give way as he picked his bruised body up from the sidewalk.

He took out his gold hero disc and smiled, "My time is almost up, Kohei pretty soon it's all gonna be on you." On the disc was what seemed like a countdown, he wasn't sure how much time he had left, but he needed to continue to act as a symbol of love and peace for as long as he could.

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

TO BE CONTINUED!

Next time on Kamen Rider Idetsu!

A soldier like Kamen Rider is seen pushing Idetsu out the way

"Don't get in the way of Kamen Rider Dynamite or I'll take you down too you bastard!"

Kohei is talking to Kei

"Dynamite, Nobuhiko was my childhood bully, he's always hated me."

Idetsu is seen blocking an attack by Dynamite

"THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL I'LL LET YOU BE STRONGER THAN ME!"
