"I…I love you too Phi!"

The last words Velvet Crowe spoke echoed in the blinding void where Velvet and Innominat, no Laphicet's constant devouring takes place. That last phrase of love, professed by the never to be known hero, Velvet lingered in her fading mind while she and her reborn brother embraced. In this moment Velvet remembers her journey, all the trials, sacrifice, tribulations, and destruction, but she also remembers the good moments, mostly of her friends and companions of the long journey. As this flood of emotion and remembrance reverberated in her the ceaseless void seemed to quake with Laphicet's quite voice as he faces Velvet.
"Your emotions are flowing through me…"
"Oh?"
"Velvet, you've suffered so much.."
"Not everything was suffering Laphi, I learned how to live thanks to my friends and you."
"It's not fair…"
"What do you mean?" Velvet's expression grew confused as her gaze caught Laphi's now tearful face.
"Even though I can see and feel everything you went through I can't understand why."
"Laphi I promised not to leave you alone, didn't I? I'd be a terrible older sister if I couldn't keep my promise."

Both were silent for a moment as their embrace continued. After a moment a feeling emerged from Laphi, he could feel the world they had left change, but he also felt something else as he looked around the void and then says in a somber tone.
"I feel that your companions were successful in replacing my and the Empyreans place in the world…"
"I'm proud to have such reliable friends then" Velvet smiled but quickly frowned seeing how Laphi's somber expression did not change
"Laphi what's wrong?"
" It…It seems that my power waning… my malevolence was finite after all."
"But! That cannot be true!... I don't understand!" Velvet's confusion and frustration began to grow.
"Velvet…" Laphi's voice grew soft as he tried to smile weakly.
"This isn't right! We will both die! Phi will die! Everything I fought for will be meaningless!" Velvet cried out feeling her despair well up within her, and tears began to well up in Velvet's eyes.
"Velvet there was a meaning to it all…"

"We have a chance to say goodbye."
"What do you mean? This isn't goodbye we are going to the afterlife together! We'll see Celica, Author, Phi, and the villagers." Velvet said trying to reassure herself and Laphi.
"I can feel that your and Phi's souls still linger as mine fades Velvet…"
"That can't be true! We're connected there's no way! I just got you back Laphi! I can't lose you again! Please I don't want you to go again!" Tears begin to stream down Velvet's face as she stares at Laphi seeing that his form has begun to grow more and more transparent.
"Velvet I saw and felt your entire journey through you… After everything that's happened you deserve to live. Greave, but do not despair. Live the life you earned, live it for me, please." Laphi now smiled as his tears have yet to stop.
Velvet could not comprehend what was happening…Laphi was dying in her arms, and she was powerless. His words hurt, seeing him accept his death hurt, everything hurt. Velvet felt her despair grow more as she cried and tightened her embrace. They were silent for a moment, each quietly crying into the other, neither truly wanting to say goodbye. It was Velvet who broke the peace.

"Laphi… did you see the ocean in my memories...?"
"Yes, it was everything I had imagined and more."
"Each time I looked out I thought of you, and wished you had been there"
"I know" Laphi now smiled up at his sister "You did everything for me…Now you have to do everything for you."

Velvet was speechless everything up to this moment she had done for Laphi. Now, she was losing him for the final time. Powerless to stop this and slowly succumbing to her despair she remembered feeling this way many other times and even how she let the despair take her. Velvet shook her head shaking the despair back as she remembered that as the older sibling, she must be strong for Laphi.
"Laphi, I will never forget you."
"Velvet…" Laphi's form begin to grow more and more transparent as Velvet felt his form also grow weaker in her embrace. Velvet smiled bravely at her younger brother and kissed his fading forehead.
"Laphi, I love you and promise to make more memories for you."
"Velvet…never give into despair." Laphi's voice was now a small echo.
"I promise"
"Live for me Velvet…live for me..."
"Goodbye Laphicet. I love you." Velvet quaked with emotion but kept her tears from streaming.
"Goodbye Velvet. I love you." Laphicet's voice echoed in her head as she felt his form fade away and the blinding void grow dark and cold. At once she felt her form falling…falling…falling.
