"This game is okay for the most part." The Nerd said.
"Now I don't know the story or characters, but one thing's for sure, the controls suck. Zatch Bell Mamodo Fury is one of those games where the concept just falls flat. I mean, you control a spell caster and their kid or demon or whatever they are in an open space until you win by using spells. Man, they must've been on drugs or something like that. I can understand the importance of friendship and other mushy stuff but to endanger a child like that is going too far. Let's play the game already."
The title screen said, "Zatch Bell, press start!"
The nerd pressed the start button and Zatch said, "Play your heart out!"
"Yeah, this game has voice acting; that's cool. But the game music is so loud that you can barely hear the voices at all and that's a problem when you're trying to dodge the spells. Good thing you can turn the music down in the options."
"Password, what password?" He said, noticing the password option and then looking it up online.
"I get it now, you can unlock new characters for different modes, but you have to unlock those modes first by playing the story. I see, so let's get to it. There's easy, normal and hard. I'll pick hard mode since I like a good challenge."
The first few levels were easy enough for the Nerd since he read the tips on the loading screen.
"As they say, reading is fundamental for the mind. In this case, it's life or death for the characters. You have to control two characters, which is a challenge in itself but with a little bit of practice, you too can master the game like I have."
"Now for the hard part, protect whatever from the enemy level."
After many tries cursing all the while, he beat the level with a B rank.
"Whew, that was tough. I just hope there aren't any more levels like that."
More than a few levels later, he had to protect Suzy from Bari.
"Why did I have to say that?"
"At least it's easier this time and I got an A rank, nice."
On the final level after many hours of playing, the Nerd said, "Okay, final level, alright. I better get something good after this."
After he beat the level and the credits rolled, he had gotten the Stage Gallery, VS Mode and Zatch's Diary.
"That's all you get? No super awesome cheat codes or anything like that? That's bull! You mean to tell me I don't get jack after beating the hardest difficulty setting just to be given the middle finger?"
"Oh, and the best part is playing VS Mode 20 and 40 times to get 4 Player Mode and Arcade Mode respectively where you can play as the other characters, so that's cool, I guess."
"In conclusion, it's not a bad game if you like the show."
