A/N – I've been wanting to do a fic inspired by this song for a long time. I love it and get Jack/Ianto vibes whenever I hear it, but no specific scenes were forming in my head. Well today it came to fruition.
FYI – The song is from the Elton John musical 'Lestat' that had a short (but amazing) run on Broadway. They recorded a cast album, but sadly it was never released. This particular song is sung by Lestat about his friend/partner Nicolas.
Takes place during Cyberwoman
Right Before My Eyes
For the second time in the space of a few minutes, Jack groaned back to life. He was alone – it seemed that the cyberwoman had lost interest and gone in search of Gwen and Owen. Clutching his chest (electrocution was a nasty way to go), Jack hauled himself to his feet.
Glancing around he saw Ianto face down in the dark water at the base of the tower – the ivory skin standing out against the dinginess of the water. Silently, Jack slid down into the frigid water and crossed to where Ianto lay. Jack flipped him over and was momentarily stunned by the younger man's innocence. This not yet over night of destruction was brought about by someone not far from being a boy. Jack marveled over the love and loyalty Ianto had shown despite overwhelming odds against him.
Pulling himself from his reverie, the captain checked Ianto's pulse and found nothing.
Jack pulled back slightly. His mind was far removed from what was happening in the hub. A decision must be made but could he do it.
From the moment he saw Ianto in Bute Park, Jack felt a connection. He saw them as two soldiers against the world... two beacons against the dark. Ianto's fierce loyalty could be a perfect compliment to his own self-assurance. Ianto was everything Jack needed. Together they could be unbeatable.
The anger and betrayal Jack had felt earlier had dissipated the instant he took Ianto in his arms. Looking down at the young man, Jack knew what he wanted to do, but doubts crept in as to whether he should. He could save Ianto, but at what cost. Were his motives altruistic or selfish?
The seconds ticked by. Jack tried again to bring the younger man back… checking his pulse… hoping Ianto would come back on his own.
Hearing noises coming from the medical area, Jack knew time was running out. Running his hands through the Welshman's wet hair, the captain made his decision.
He leaned over and touched his lips to Ianto's… he willed some of the lifeforce that permeated his own body into the prone form beneath him. He could feel the coldness being pushed away and the life returning.

Ianto gasped into Jack's mouth. They lay for a moment staring at each other. Jack placed a finger to his own lips to keep Ianto silent.
Before Jack could say anything, a crash came from the medical bay and Ianto stood and ran. Jack watched him go, wondering if Ianto would ever be able to forgive him for condemning him to life.
End.
Reviews are Love.
Realized as I was writing it, it could kinda… maybe… sorta… be a CoE fix it. (yay)
If you want to hear the song… standard youtube address… /watch?v=vKfbY7-wwd8 (video is actually mine from years ago lol – audio is sketchy because as I said no album was released and this was my own bootleg)
