Year 2107
Zootopia is not so different from what we are used to, apart from all the technological evolutions it has already had, the main one was the creation of the Zootopia Space Station (EEZ), which was actually more of an observatory as they never sent anyone into space as no one saw the need for it. So it works as a big observatory for observing stars and comets.
This was not the only evolution that had already taken place. One in particular occurred 100 years ago with the marriage of a couple that went against all the standards of the time.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Nick and Judy Wilde-Hopps.
After they met in the first case together, the Howling Wolves case, something had been born between them inappropriately according to some. At first it seemed like it was a friendship between two animals of different species, which was socially acceptable until then. But they both knew that deep down it wasn't just that and they were afraid of it. I was afraid of what would turn out, what would happen.
Nick and Judy lived as if they didn't feel anything for each other but that was becoming more and more untenable. That desire to be side by side forever only grew, that desire to enjoy each other's company indefinitely only increased. Until then, neither of them knew they were going through the same things.
Until one day, Judy in her apartment, overcome with doubts and thoughts, decided that she would put an end to this psychological torture she was doing on herself. Deciding then to go to Nick's house so she could talk to him about all this. Only she was surprised that when she opened the door to her apartment, she bumped into Nick. Yes, with Nick. He also couldn't bear to go through this psychological torture, though he'd made the decision a few hours before Judy did.
They looked at each other for a few minutes, when on impulse Judy simply hugged him. After a few minutes of hugging, they looked at each other again, but this time in the eyes. Judy then, with a few tears in her eyes, told Nick what had been stuck in her throat for a long time. She said, "I love you." Nick returned it with a smile and an unexpected kiss on her lips.
Before she went off and spread the word that they would start a relationship, Judy talked to her mother on the phone for a few hours. Judy explained everything to her, from when she first met Nick until now. Her mother was understanding, much to Judy's amazement. Bonnie Hopps said that she would like her to keep a rabbit but it wouldn't stop her from being happy even if she didn't go with one. She her mom also said that she would talk to her dad and respect and that it would be okay.
Nick also talked to his mother, who was very proud of her son for joining the Zootopia Police Department (DPZ) and for achieving a better life for both of them. Nick's mother however already knew Judy, because when she didn't return to her farm, Judy spent a few days at Nick's house where she lived. Her response to her son's confessions surprised Nick. She said that from the first time Judy went there, she knew Nick looked at her differently. And to Nick's astonishment, she said she wouldn't be able to be against Nick's love and happiness. Nick was very grateful.
So the next day, Nick and Judy began to publicly demonstrate how they felt about each other, with simple words and gestures. It didn't take them long to notice that something was different. With that, the courageous spirit of Nick and Judy, for being challenging society in a way, was easily spread. So the two were gaining more and more supporters of the cause.
Until at a Gazelle concert, an appeal was made live to release the relationship between the two, and live to the entire city, Nick and Judy exchanged a passionate and emotional kiss, touching everyone. And so they went in protest in front of the city hall. Asking for release. It was the act that marked the so-called Revolution of Love, as the animals realized that there was no sense in preventing love between two animals even if they were not of the same species.
It didn't take long for one of the most beautiful weddings in Zootopia to take place, which even had the presence of Judy's father, who got emotional. It was an unforgettable ceremony.
As if that wasn't enough, by popular pressure Nick ran for mayor of Zootopia. After he became mayor, even though he didn't have it in mind, the population naturally celebrated Judy and Nick's wedding, for what it represented. So Nick made the date officially commemorative. In the first year of the officially commemorative date, Nick gave an unforgettable speech to his beloved wife. In that speech, in an emotional tone, he said:
"Judy Wilde-Hopps, you were, are, and always will be the best thing that ever happened in my life. Without you, I would never get where I am. Without you I would never be who I am today. You are the star that brightens my day. It's what makes me wake up every day wanting to live. It's what makes me smile in the morning when I wake up. Seeing you by my side all these days makes me never give up hope for a better world, the hope you carry every day since you moved to this city"
After being mayor, Nick wanted to retire and fulfill Judy's wish, which was to go back to Bunnyburrow. Even so, they returned to the city when the commemorative date approached. It went on like that for a while until age came for both of them. It is said that the two died together, while they slept. Then a beautiful wake was held and then a shrine was built in honor of the two.
Yet every year the celebration was held. Even after the absence of the most favorite couple in town, the celebration was presided over by the adopted children, a fox named Cooper and a rabbit named Annah.
Then on the 100th anniversary of Judy and Nick's marriage, the president of the Zootopia Space Station asked permission to demonstrate a discovery that had been videotaped in space. The president then made a short speech saying:
"As president of the space station, I come here too thrilled to show an unprecedented discovery. Please start the video."
Then the video started playing and everyone was in the deepest silence, very moved.
The footage was of a blue comet that followed in a straight path and another orange comet that followed in a spiral.
Love is something that we don't fully understand and that is beyond all dimensions that we know. That's Nick and Judy's love. Inexplicable and beyond anything you know.
