Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto

It was a windy cloudy day in Konoha. Children rode their bikes around the neighborhood as families started decorating their homes for Halloween. White cotton was used as spider webs, plastic skeletons, and pumpkins situated on front porches. The leaves, now a combination of orange, green, and brown, slowly fell from the trees and onto the quiet streets.

Kakashi had called him earlier in the morning, telling him that he had an idea. An idea of how to get him with Rin. And as much as Obito treasured his friendship with Kakashi, he also thought that his friend was an idiot who watched and read too much porn. Kakashi, with the help of either Gai or Yamato, had tried similar things in the past.

There was the time that they encouraged Obito to have a picnic with Rin; but the date ended up turning to a trip to the ER as he later discovered that Rin was allergic to peanut butter. And while that day scarred him for life (the fact that he had to make peanut butter sandwiches that day bothered him a lot), Rin found it humorous and would even joke about it to this day.

Then there was the time where he took her to the movies, but the entire neighborhood suffered a power outage. And instead, they spent their evening at Anko's place.

Kakashi didn't really tell him what this new idea was. All he did was provide him with an address, instructing him to meet there after dinner.

After having dinner with his cousin Shisui, Obito took a cab to the address provided. The ride was nearly twenty minutes long, and the car stopped in front of an area Obito was not so familiar with. It was nothing but older houses and the address led to a very old one. The grass was unkempt, nearly a foot long. The fence leading to the front yard and house was broken. He checked his phone again to make sure that he read the address correctly.

"Obito?"

He quickly turned around to find a beautifully dressed Rin standing right behind him. She wore a blue mid-thigh skirt with a white blouse. He reminded himself not to stare too much.

"R-Rin? What are you doing here?"

"Anko texted me to come here. Did she text you too?"

He shook his head. "Kakashi texted me,"

"I see," she said before changing the topic, "Maybe they're inside? I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of Anko's crazy ideas of a Halloween party,"

Obito smirked at that. Out of everyone in their friend group, Anko was the party planner. And Kakashi was always the assistant.

"Let's go inside then,"

She followed him towards the old house. The door was left ajar, and Obito knocked a few times before opening it.

"Yo, Kakashi? Anko?"

There was no answer. The first thing they noticed was the unhealthy amount of dust in the large living room. The sofa was covered in a thick white blanket. Obito flipped the switch, but no lights turned on. There was a set of narrow stairs leading to the second floor.

"Maybe they texted us the wrong address?" Rin asked curiously.

"Maybe. Let's just leave,"

She nodded in agreement. But before they even turned around, the door shut with such a force that it caused both of them to flinch, Rin more than Obito. She ended up jumping to his side and grabbing his arm as her brown eyes stared at the shut door. Obito nearly forgot about the door as he looked down at the way she was grabbing onto him, and part of him wanted to hug her and tell her that everything was OK.

"Did that door just close by itself?"

"Maybe it's the wind," Obito replied calmly, walking over to it.

He grabbed the knob and tried to turn it, but it wouldn't turn. He tried harder, but, it still didn't turn.

"It's not opening?"

"No," he replied as he shook the knob back and forth. "Maybe there's a back door or a window-"

Crash!

Rin yelped and nearly ran to his side again, her eyes scanning the living room area. "Something just fell behind us. Sounded like glass,"

"It was probably the vibration from when I shook this thing," Obito said before giving her a smile, "Let's try the kitchen? Maybe there's another door there,"

"OK,"

She followed him closely as they walked around the covered furniture and into the kitchen. Just like the living room, the light was not working in the space. There were spider webs hanging over the opened cabinets. The fridge was turned off, and a bad smell emitted from it.

"This place is really abandoned,"

"Yeah," he said, sighing after analyzing the kitchen area, "No back door here,"

"No windows either…" she added before thinking of something, "Maybe we should call Anko or Kakashi? This is probably one of their pranks,"

Both of them took their phones out and tried texting, but their texts didn't go through. Obito tried calling, but his phone gave him a busy tone.

"There's no signal here…" Rin commented, "But how? The city's just five miles from here… There are no mountains or anything blocking the cellphone towers,"

"Could be something in this house interfering with the signal," Obito said, "Let's try upstairs,"

"Yeah,"

Exiting the kitchen, they headed up the narrow staircase. Rin made sure not to touch the banister, as the thing was dusty and had small spiders crawling over it. Every step they took caused the old piece of wood to creak, which made things creepier in the old quiet house.

A soft touch, as soft as a feather, brushed against the back of her thing, and Rin yelped and nearly bumped into Obito.

"What is it?!"

"Something just touched my thigh!"

He observed the area behind them but saw nothing.

"Maybe it was a bug?"

"No," she shook her head frantically as her heart beat rapidly, "It felt like...someone was touching it… Like if they placed their hand on it,"

Obito wasn't sure what to say. He wasn't afraid of the strange environment in the house, but he didn't have a good feeling about it either.

"Want to walk in front of me?" he offered, and she nodded.

They switched places and continued up the stairs until they reached the second floor. There were multiple doors, all of them closed.

Thud Thud Thud!

This time Rin hugged Obito entirely and buried her face on his chest. "What the hell was that?!"

He wrapped an arm around her, the fact that Rin was pressed nicely against him not making him afraid of the fact that the house was now toying with them.

"Sounds like someone knocking. Hello, anybody here? Kakashi, Anko? Is this some prank from you two?"

"Anko, this isn't funny!" Rin added, still pressed against Obito.

There was no sound, no answer. Nothing.

"Maybe old pipes?" he said cheesily while looking down at her, and Rin frowned.

"Pipes don't knock, Obito,"

He chuckled at that, and they decided to open one of the doors. The first door lead to a bedroom that consisted of a large bed, some furniture, and a big mirror. There were no windows.

"Let's try another-ouch!" Obito rubbed the back of his head, and Rin turned around.

"What's wrong?"

"Something hit me. Felt like…" he looked down and noticed a very small white piece of paper, frowning before turning around, "Felt like one of Kakashi's lame spitballs!"

"So they really are trying to scare us?"

"Yeah. They're hiding in this place somewhere. It's just a matter of finding them,"

This made Rin feel much better, and the two walked down the hall and opened some of the other doors. The one she opened led to a small bathroom. The bathtub was a disgusting color of pink and gray, and water still dripped slowly from the faucet over the sink. She looked at herself in the mirror and opened it curiously. There were old bottles of medicine in there. She grabbed one of them and saw that the manufactured date read 1950.

"This is really old…" she whispered to herself before putting the bottle back and closing the mirror.

And just as she did, the face of an old angry man stared back at her. He had dark brown eyes with thinning white hair. There was a nasty scar underneath his right eye. Rin's eyes widened as she saw through the mirror as the old man leaned down and placed his chin on her shoulder. Her eyebrows furrowed as he opened his mouth and small spiders came crawling out, and Rin let out a petrifying scream before her vision turned dark.

XxXxX

Obito looked through a photo album he found lying on the bed of one of the bedrooms. It showed pictures of an old man with three little girls. One picture showed the man building a dollhouse, and another showed him building a set of swings in the backyard.

"Huuuuuuu"

Obito looked forward from where the sound was coming from.

"Huuuuuu"

The voice sounded very familiar, and he rolled his eyes. "Gai, I know that's you…"

"Huuu-Shit!"

Obito searched within the closet and finally found something that proved his theory that one of their friends was behind all of this. A walkie-talkie.

"Gai, tell Kakashi that his pranks are dumb,"

"Huuuu…. This is not Gai….Huuuu I am a ghost…. Huuuu"

Obito rolled his eyes, "Yeah, sure-"

"AAAAAAH!"

He dropped the device and rushed out to the hallway and towards one of the opened doors, his eyes widening as he saw Rin on the floor.

"Shit! Rin! Rin!"

He crouched by her side, shaking her shoulders and tapping the side of her face. Seconds later she stirred awake. She blinked at him for a moment before sitting up and wrapping her arms around his neck in a fierce embrace. He nearly stumbled over her while feeling her trembling body.

"Rin, are you OK?"

"I saw his face,"

"Who?"

"Some old man…. H-He looked angry...a-and he just appeared out of nowhere!"

He wondered if it was the same old man from the picture. He wanted to check that theory by showing her the pictures he found but figured that it was probably best not to spook her even more. Her face was buried into the crook of his neck, and she was holding onto him as if her life depended on it. It made him worry about her.

"I want to leave," she eventually said, her voice shaky.

"Let's go then. Here, let me help you,"

He helped her get up and exit the bathroom, her arm around his. The sound of moving furniture had her closing her eyes.

"I think this place is haunted," she murmured, feeling annoyed. She couldn't wait until she reached out to Anko and gave her an earful.

As they walked down the stairs, he held her hand. It made her feel better, and she was glad that it was Obito. He had a way of him. Her grandmother had always commented about what a gentleman he was, especially in this age where a lot of young men were being raised not to have those same values. And Rin agreed. The boy she last went on a date with once ditched her outside the restaurant, in the pouring rain.

Obito ran his thumb over her knuckles, and she smiled to herself while feeling a set of butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

"I'm going to grab a knife-"

"Can I go with you?" she interrupted before realizing the way she said it, as if she was desperate.

He offered her a smile and pulled her closer to him, changing the way he held her hand. His fingers were intertwined with hers.

He opened a cabinet and pulled out a knife.

"What are you going to do?" she asked as they headed back to the front door.

"My uncle taught me this trick a while back. When Sasuke was little and accidentally locked himself in the bathroom, Fugaku would use a knife and place it by the lock," Obito explained while doing the same, "Apply some pressure and...aha!"

The door suddenly opened, and Rin sighed in relief. Obito turned to her and grabbed her hand, and the two exited the creepy house.

They decided to ignore their friends' text messages and phone calls for the rest of the day, and instead opted to watch a romantic comedy movie at the local theater. Obito purchased their tickets and food before sitting next to each other in front of the large screen.

As the film started, Obito placed his arm over her shoulders in a daring move. But she looked up at him and smiled before resting her head on him. His phone vibrated again with Kakashi's name in the front. But he ignored it. Spending time with Rin was all he needed at the moment.

Next Day…

"I told you my plan would be a success," boasted Anko proudly as she narrowed her eyes at Kakashi.

The silver-haired man shrugged, "It was my idea to lock them in there,"

"And it was my idea to do the spooky noises!" Gai added with a bright smile.

"You're all idiots," Obito said casually, and Rin laughed.

"You should be thanking us," Kakashi said as he watched the way the two of them sat very close to each other, "You two are finally a couple,"

Anko nodded at that, "Yeah, if it wasn't for us you two would still be friend-zoning each other,"

"You could've used less harmful ways at least," Rin said, remembering how scared she was in that house. "I passed out for a moment yesterday,"

"We didn't do anything too scary. Anko moved some things around, Gai made some creepy noises, and I threw a spitball at Obito,"

"I knew that was you, you bastard..."

"Then which one of you dressed up like an old man and scared me in the bathroom?"

Gai, Kakashi, and Anko looked at each other confusingly, before Kakashi eventually replied.

"Neither of us. That was never part of our plan… We didn't dress up like some old person,"

"I don't believe you," Rin said, "The guy was standing behind me. I screamed and passed out,"

The trio shook their heads, "Rin, we swear we did not dress up like some old man… Nor was there any old man in the house. We looked around the house before telling you two to come over. What did he look like?"

Rin tapped her chin while remembering, "He...had really dark eyes, thinning white hair… and he had a scar underneath his eye! He wore these...really old clothes...like something a man from the 1940s or 50s would wear,"

Anko's eyes widened, "Rin...I think you just described my great-great-grandfather,"

"If he...alive?" Gai asked curiously, even though everyone gave him a certain look.

"Of course not," Anko said, "He passed away decades ago. But that was his house,"

"Wait, that house belongs to your family?" Obito asked, and the purple-haired woman nodded.

"Yeah. My parents want to sell it, but nobody wants to buy it. So now they're thinking about having it torn down, and then selling the land,"

"So his ghost must still be roaming in that place?" Kakashi said, and Anko shook her head.

"I doubt it! I mean…"

"Did your parents ever give you a reason as to why they can't sell the house?"

"Well, because it's old and…"

"...and…? I know houses that are much older but still in good condition,"

"...People get spooked by it… but that doesn't mean it's haunted!"

"Then how do you explain Rin being able to describe him without even hearing about him?"

The trio looked at each other in shock, as Rin and Obito slowly looked at each other, their minds working in parallel as they remembered everything they heard in that house. She held her boyfriend's hand and leaned against his shoulder as he placed a reassuring kiss on her head.

And from there they learned that some things were just better off left alone…
