Summary: "He'd grabbed it when no one was looking, slipped it into his pack and smuggled it aboard the Marauder." It's difficult, walking on eggshells around Crosshair. Especially when one is in possession of something that he should most certainly not have. One-shot. Takes place after the events of Onderon, on the way back to Kamino.

A Weapon Of The Past

It's late, and the dark void of space that stretches out in front of the Marauder is empty.

Clone Force 99 slumbers.

Well, all of them but Tech.

His goggles are pushed up, the skin around his eyes sore from wearing them for two straight rotations. Nonetheless, he still works quietly in the cockpit, squinting at his focus- honestly, he's really just adding height adjustment to the chairs. Nothing too important.

But between the lack of sight and his exhaustion, he's really not focusing all that much.

He thinks he's grabbing his hydrospanner from inside his toolkit, but when he pulls it out and flicks it on, a brilliant blue blade shoots forth from it with a whoosh and a vibrancy that takes his breath away.

He hears Crosshair violently stir in the other room.

Oh, no.

Tech deactivates the lightsaber without a second thought, shoves it into the bottom of his toolbag moments before the cockpit door slides open and Crosshair pushes his way in, a blaster pistol tight in his grasp.

"What was that?" The sharpshooter growls.

"My apologies, Crosshair. There is no present danger." He assures him. "I simply bumped my suit's datapad against something and it malfunctioned."

"Hmmph." Crosshair accepts the blatant lie. "Don't let it happen again, some of us are trying to sleep around here."

"I will be more careful." Tech promises.

His brother leaves without another word.

Perhaps wanting to study this weapon has proved to be a mistake, Tech thinks.

The lightsaber, it had belonged to the Jedi Master that the regs had gunned down on Kaller. He'd grabbed it when no one was looking, slipped it into his pack and smuggled it aboard the Marauder with the intent of dissecting it to understand how it works. Probably not what he should have been thinking about after the murder of the Jedi. Correction- definitely not what he should have been thinking about. Yet, he had. Yet, he did take it.

And Crosshair's been acting strange since then as well. So unlike himself. So...obedient. So judgmental of all of them, especially of Hunter. Tech has to make sure that Crosshair doesn't find out about his possession of the lightsaber. Because if he does, he doesn't know what will happen.

Hunter knows. About the lightsaber.

Tech can see it in his eyes the next time they're all awake.

Neither of them dares to speak of it.

He knows he should get rid of it.

But he doesn't.
