Blu kept Vici under his wing for a few more moments. They both looked at the bonfire, which was slowly dying down and letting out its last sparks into the sky. There was no need to light it any more, as it had become warm and the stinging cold wind had died down and it was warm and pleasant to sit outside. Blu, when he held Vici under his wing, felt that he had already embraced someone like this, with such warmth and care, but he couldn't remember this person. At least for now. His heart was beating quite fast, his pulse was high, but it didn't bother him too much because there was some kind of warmth in his body that made him want to keep Vici with him. As for the girl herself she also felt very cosy under the man's wing, but as she got more and more into the situation the worse she felt. She knew that Blu most likely had a family, a loving other half. She knew that, but she didn't want to tell him about it.
"On the one hand I'd like to tell him, help him, but at least on the other hand... His wing won't let him fly away anyway, and sooner or later he'll remember everything anyway... I don't want to lose him at least, at least not now..." thought Vici.
"'You know' began Blu breaking the sweet moment of silence. Vici looked at him with her purple eyes and made a sound giving a sign that she was listening to him.
"I wish I could tell you something about myself too... But I don't remember anything... The only thing I can recall is that name...Roberto...as if I've heard it somewhere before" Blu said thoughtfully.
"He's already starting to remember. I guess I won't have to help him with that" acknowledged Vici.
"Mhm... How's the wing in general, does it hurt?" Vici asked.
"Not anymore, to be honest. But I feel it's awfully numb..." Replied Blu trying to move the wing. He couldn't do it because it was heavily stiffened.
"Are you surprised? It's been so stiff for days now that you don't have to move it" replied Vici.
"If your wing doesn't hurt anymore, I can take the sling off tomorrow and you can practice."
"Do you think your wing was hurt that much?"
"It wasn't the best view of your wing when I saw you at first, believe..." Vici replied. Blu nodded with a motion of his head. A moment later he sighed.
"Okay, but once you've taken the bandage off, my wing will be completely fine, what then? What will I do if I can't remember anything?" asked Blu.
Although Vici had assured him that he should regain his memory within a dozen days he still wasn't sure about that. Despite the passage of days, he still had no memory in his head.
" Well... Remember, there's always room with me " Vici said quietly, as if she didn't want Blu to hear it.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I doubt you'd want to stay here, but if you wanted to see me sometime..."
"I'd like to stay here, but... I don't know...maybe it's too early to think about it..." acknowledged Blu.
"Well... Don't break, it can only get better... By the way, now that I've said all about myself might you like to see everything I have in my... Garage?" offered Vici. Blu was surprised by the girl's offer, after all last night she had chastised him quite a bit for going there. However, now she was inviting him there herself.
" All in all why not, lead the way " he accepted Blu's offer.
Rafael was quite surprised at how Roberto tried to avoid conversation with him, and how quickly he walked away from him without even waiting for any question. Heavily confused by this Rafael decided that it would be a good choice if he went home to return with food for his friends, who were most likely still asleep at this hour.
"Roberto was somehow... I don't know how to consider it, something... What was the point of his text? Ekh... It's best if I ask him myself, maybe his head is messed up from looking for Blu, I can help him at least"
Rafael's thoughts took him practically all the way to his house, because once he decided to do so, he was already on the platform in front of his house. He wasn't particularly surprised when he didn't even hear a single sign of life. Stepping inside he saw no one, he quickly guessed that his two companions were still asleep and in no hurry to start their day.
"Well, nothing new. But still, nothing lost. As long as Blu is missing I don't think anyone feels like having a party," acknowledged the toucan. He placed the fruits on the table arranging them in a row. Rafael was not generally a fan of mess. Maybe because he has quite a few children and knows that mess can't end well.
" Alright, I'll head over to Robert's, I think I'll be home before they wake up" thought Rafael. He left the flat straight away, he wasn't hungry at the moment. He had planned to eat breakfast after his meeting with Roberto. According to Roberto, he should be at the military base at the end of the village. That was where he practically sat all day. Since the herds of spix Macaw and ar scarlet had reconciled, there was no need to control the area as much. There were no major problems. Before the reconciliation from here there were often reports that someone violated the designated area, that someone without permission demolished the hollows, and even there were group fights. Then troops of several people would come in and separate the groups that were about to fight. A 15-minute flight was enough to reach the base where Roberto was to be. It was a place set on a hill of cliff between trees. It was an ideal observation point for the whole village, and the views from here were also beautiful. Unfortunately, only authorized people were allowed to stay here. In truth, Rafael was not such a person, but Eduardo had passed on to Roberto that while Blu was missing anyone could be welcomed here, provided they had some important information about the disappearance. Rafael flew into the base, where a strongly built spix Macaw already approached him as a greeting. Rafael swallowed his saliva hard, but tried not to show his slight discouragement at the conversation.
"What are you looking for here?" the spix Macaw asked in a low tone voice.
"I'm looking for Roberto, he should be here," replied Rafael.
"Roberto? No, Roberto couldn't be here today because he was supposed to watch over Jewel or something... The main authority is me, meaning the Lieutenant Colonel" replied Parrot.
"Are you sure about that?" asked Rafael in surprise. It didn't fit at all with what Roberto had said.
"After all, he was supposed to be here" thought the toucan.
"I am, after all I know what I heard" replied the Lieutenant Colonel.
"After all... Could it be that Roberto had other intentions? This could be interesting... " considered Rafael in his mind. In his thoughts, he laid out his own plan of action in rapid succession. After some thought, he asked the request
"Do you happen to know where those who were supposed to check where Blu is went?" asked Rafael.
"Why do you need to know that?" asked the Lieutenant Colonel.
"I need to know that."
"Ekh..." sighed the soldier then searched the others around him with his eyes.
"Samuel, step forward!" shouted the Lieutenant Colonel, after which a medium built bird emerged from the group of soldiers. It was a private, the lowest rank there was.
"Show for him where Mick and Jack have gone, just come back quickly" ordered the Lieutenant Colonel. Although he had given that order, it was clear he was not pleased.
"Follow me" said Samuel, after which Rafael began his own investigation.
