VRRR...VRRR...The motor revved harder the more Midoriya drove it. He looked on the road, trying not to get into his own head. "The moment I want to be spontaneous, is the very moment the world goes to shit. Great." Izuku was just glad he learned how to drive. Midoriya adjusted the mirror. His green hair was unnaturally dirty. Izuku needed a shower.

The black accents in his hair were developing more and more every week. Soon, it would be almost half way. Izuku was fine with that. He was bullied for having green hair. Izuku looked at the passenger seat, and noticed it was empty. He did that a majority of the time. Kacchan, or rather Katsuki, had went missing around a week back.

And it was all Midoriya's fault.

Izuku shook his head to get that would of his mind. To his knowledge, he was in the North, near Boston. Izuku sucked his teeth. It was a habit his fellow exchange students hated, but now that wasn't a problem. A majority of the exchange students had died almost immediately after the dead started walking. Izuku saw his friends die. Yoayorozu, Ururaka...that one hurt more than the others.

Izuku shook his head. "Shut up, brain." Izuku slowed down the car as he saw a shed with a bunch of gates. "Maybe...people?" Izuku slowed down the old car and got out. He parked in a way so that it was easy to get out. "Aw...man..." Izuku had almost had hope. But what met him was a terrible shed. It was broken down. It looked like a horde of zombies had ran through, but Izuku heard or saw any.

That didn't sooth the fifteen year old.

Izuku pulled out the long knife he had gotten back in a house a few states ago. It was silver, made of silver. The knife was nine inches long, including the hilt, and it could go straight through the brain. Perfect. And just in case things got hairy...

Izuku pulled out the gun in his back pocket. The pistol was a Glock 19. Izuku had a full 11 clip, and 8 more bullets in another. The gun was last resort.

Izuku stumbled over cages and metal barriers. "Focus, nerd!" Izuku could hear Kacchan in his ear. That only made him sadder.

Izuku finished the puzzle and walked around the outside of the shed. He could see bullet shells. A bell was laying on the side of a train. Izuku had just realized that there was a whole train standing up in front of the shed. "I have to be aware of my surroundings."

"Well, they haven't come back." Izuku had ducked behind a old metal trash can. "Well, Abel, you can't expect them to be so hasty. Even if we put down food there, they just can't come back. Their haul was huge. Stop being impatient."

"Ok, mother." The man, Abel, had a gravely voice and one arm. Izuku just barely peeked over the trash can. There was a woman, scowling in the other direction. The man was looking around, head down. He seemed eager and set on something. "There was a girl, with golden eyes, almond shaped. African American. The boy talked a big game, but he couldn't be older than five or six. They had accomplices, too."

"How many." The girl asked." "I don't know, Lilly, they had two with them, then again, four kids together seems like a stretch." Lilly nodded. "True. Let's move on."

The walked out. Izuku had gathered some information. There was food, but there is a trap most likely. Even if I activate it on purpose, it might attract walkers, or even them back to this spot. Izuku had to take the chance. It had been four days since he ate, and the water supply was running low. Izuku exhaled softly, and crept into the shed.

There was an eerie silence in the rooms. There was a booth with a rusted yellow gate. "Damn." Izuku saw the dead walkers tied together. Slits through the head. It wasn't recent, definitely less than a week. Kacchan had taught Izuku how to look out for those things. Izuku walked around. The door was open, but cracked. Izuku held his breath and walked through the door. There is was, an abundance of food was sitting on the mattress. Izuku looked around as he slowly crept to the food.

As in an instant, Izuku jumped back. He could smell the poison leaking out from the pipes. "Damn." The door activated a poison that leaked out of the sewer system. Izuku whipped out his backpack and threw the food in there. Luckily, it was empty, so he got a lot of the stuff. Izuku figured the couple would be back soon, so he packed up and left the door.

All in all, the haul was good. A lot of water bottles, some chips, and a lot of jerky. Izuku began to jog out of the house, but he felt something settle in his lungs. It didn't hurt, but it slowed him down and felt sleepy. Izuku fought it and ran to the car. Suddenly, he heard voices in the distance. "Get him! He's getting away!" Abel and Lilly were on his tail. Izuku couldn't go back to the truck, they would shoot him. It was either the road or the woods. Izuku ducked into the woods, dodging over the cover of trees. "Damn, nerd, what have you gotten yourself into?" Kacchan again spoke into Izuku's head. That only made the green haired boy run faster. Faster than he ever ran in his life. Away from his problems. Away from his past, and the hurt it brought.

"FIZZZ"

Izuku heard a gunshot whizz past his ear. "What the hell?" Izuku looked back and saw a rifle. Izuku ran even faster through the woods, not knowing what the find. Izuku was looking down the whole time, and finally looked up. Before he could stop himself, he ran face first into a female.

The world was black for a second. Izuku sat up, then realized that he was being held at gunpoint. The Abel man stood over him, gun point to his temple. Beside him...was a girl with curly, slightly long hair. On his left was a little boy, no older than a kindergartner. The girl had almond...

Izuku panicked, and almost moved. Then he remembered he had a rifle to his frontal lobe. "...hello...?" Izuku heard leaves and noticed that the Lilly woman had come up onto them. "Clem...that's the guy." "Yes, AJ, I know." Izuku didn't think they were talking about him, since AJ looked angrily at Abel. Izuku didn't speak anymore, awaiting to hear out the situation.

"So, we have a bunch of thieves and snakes, do we?" The Clem girl looked at Lilly with a hint of recognition. "Lilly..." Lilly grew a look of shock. "Clementine." Izuku realized that that was a nice name. But now is not the time, Izuku thought. Abel pointed the gun at the girl. "You three would make good soldiers, fast, athletic...smart." Izuku did not care for the look Abel gave them. One of hunger and greed.

Lilly ignored him and looked and Clementine. "Is that really you?" "Yes..." "Do you recognize me?" "Vaguely...yeah, actually." Lilly gave a hint of a smile. "I remember when I shot that girl..." "Carley..." "Yeah, whatever. I was clearly a threat to the group, and Lee knew it. He made the hard decision to leave me behind. It was right, though. Where is he?" Clem's silence gave Lilly her answer. "I knew it. He died, most likely for you. Lee was not a weak man, so that must be it."

That response jeered Clementine. She almost bucked at Lilly, but the girl held back. Smart. The boy stayed quiet, not having a clue to their conversation. Izuku was the same. Lilly continued. "Anyways, you two show mounds of potential, and even you, the green headed boy could be somewhat useful." Izuku hated to be underestimated, but now wasn't the time to get all worked up.

"I'll never join scum such as yourselves." Izuku was shocked at AJ's tone. Clem didn't tell him to hush. She must've felt the same way. Izuku didn't want to join, but what if...

Clem suddenly nodded hard, and Izuku saw an arrow let go.

"You have no choice. Abel, keep the gun pointed while they are bind- SHIT!"

The gruesome noise of the arrow landing into her left shoulder jolted the three to action. AJ and Clem took off more to the West, and Izuku went straight North. Izuku heard Abel chase after the other two, so he assumed Lilly was after him. For a injured gal, she sure could run. Izuku poured on the speed. He was just out of gas when he met up with Clem in a field. "If you want to live, you'd follow us." Izuku didn't argue and ran up to the nearest tree and ducked. Up ahead, zombies.

"AJ!" Clementine called out. "Here, Clem." AJ was just up ahead. "Damnit." Instead of trying to clear them, Clem and Izuku just dodged zombies to get ahead. Bullets rang towards them. Abel had caught up. "AJ! Clem had yelled out their position, but for good reason. The little boy was leaning against the tree, buckshots in his stomach.

His eyes fluttered as blood dripped slowly from the wound. "AJ...no." Clem cried. Izuku realized they had no time. He scooped up the boy and ran. "There must be a slope up ahead where we can rest. Can you run?" Clem nodded and they took off.

Good news: Abel and Lilly hadn't caught up with them. Bad news: AJ was still hurt. Clem had ordered Izuku to lay him on the side to see what they could do, but Clem wasn't a medic. Izuku had training, but he only had tape in his backpack. They would have to make do.

"You're going to have to hold him still." Clem nodded as Izuku pulled out a buckshot. AJ wiggled but didn't scream. This process continued until all three were gone. AJ had passed out from pain, which gave Izuku time to patch up the wound. Tape wouldn't hold, but Izuku knew it was better than letting the kid bleed out.

"How is it?" "He'll survive for now. Tomorrow, we need to get him medicine or it's over. Antibiotics, and the like." Clem nodded, holding back tears. "What's your name?" "... Midoriya. Izuku Midoriya."

"Ok, Midoriya. You're foreign, aren't you?" "Yeah." Izuku didn't care how she knew, there were more important things. Izuku took out a couple pieces of jerky. "Eat." The girl didn't question him. She gave some to the little boy and ate the rest.

"Thanks." Izuku didn't responds. He wasn't against giving hospitality, but they were in an apocalypse. Kacchan wouldn't be too mad, he supposed. So, Izuku let it go. "So, Clementine, you knew that girl?" "We're not with her!" "Ok. Good." Izuku didn't mind her anger. She was right to have it anyway.

"Where are you from?" "Georgia. Athens." Clem asked him the same. "Japan. Shiouka Prefecture." Clem sat there, silent for a bit. Then, she spoke. "Why did you help us?" "I...my mother is...at least was the nicest person I know. she would've done it in a heartbeat. I'm just paying my fortunes forward."

Izuku had made that up on the fly. He had learned how to lie despite being a terrible one before the apocalypse. Not trusting people came with the whole zombie territory.

"Clem...I..." "What?" "What did you do to that man to make him so angry?" "It's a long...story. He lost his arm trying to threaten the survival of my group. At least, former group." "Is that were we are headed?" "Yeah. It is. They have supplies. And a strong wall." "You have a plan?" "No, not really. Just get AJ healthy and leave." "You heard those two. They are recruiting. And if there's a group of strong kids with potential, then why wouldn't they try to snatch em up?" That thought dawned on Clementine.

"So, Izuku, what do you supposed I do?"

Izuku walked up to the gate behind Clementine, AJ in his arms. The boy was stable, for the most part. They had walked for the majority of the morning. It was around one. The sun was hid by the clouds. The wind settled on Izuku's skin.

A buck toothed boy sat on a high place and readied his bow. He called out to everyone. "Hey, everyone!" Soon, people showed up to the gate. "Clem...AJ! a dark skinned boy took AJ from his arms. "What happened?" Clem didn't have time to respond as she stumbled. Izuku felt tired as well. He slumped down against the wall. His eyes fluttered open and closed.

"Get them both inside!" A voice chirped. Izuku felt strong hands grasp his legs and neck to pick him up. Then, his body decided to take a nap.
