I've really got to stop writing so many Luna stories

It was a typical Saturday. Even though it was nearly seven-thirty in the morning, Luna Lovegood was up early, with a large, white leather bag strapped across her body.

Only halfway through her first year, and she was still not used to the moving staircases. Just as she nearly makes it to the Great Hall, a staircase turned toward the entrance back to the Ravenclaw Common Room, and she'd have to start all over again.

Now Luna had been detoured for the fifth time today. She walked past the Hufflepuff portrait just as it opened.

"What are you doing up so early, Lovegood?"

She turned around to see Ernie Macmillan, in his robes but seemingly exhausted. His bag was half-open, and Luna could see his quills and books inside.

"You shouldn't be around on a day like this. Daddy said the castle is infested top to bottom with Wrackspurts on cloudy Saturdays. It's clouder since last Saturday. ,"

"Yeah, okay. So then why would you be out and about when you might be attacked by these… wrackspew things or whatever you call them,"

"Wrack-spurts," Luna said, slowly and clearly, so there was no way he could mishear her. "And I'm only going out to make sure the thesterals are okay. I haven't visited them in a while Plus, we have a theory that they don't hurt you if you genuinely believe that they exist."

Ernie shrugged and turned away. "Whatever,"

Before he could even step onto the staircase Luna added, "You shouldn't go up those stairs!"

Ernie nearly jumped at Luna's loud and abrupt call.

"I think I might have encountered a wrackspurt up there," Luna said, sounding much more concerned than she should have been. "Try to duck while you're halfway up,"

"I'll be fine!" he snapped, dashing up the stairs.

Luna looked angry at Ernie.

"I was just trying to help," she replied cooly as she turned away. For the slightest second, Ernie felt guilty. As completely insane as Luna was, it was a bit unfair for him to blow up at her like that…

He was still going up the stairs, but wasn't looking where he was going; he tripped when he was about a quarter of the way up, and all of the contents of his bag spilled out. Luna was halfway down the opposing staircase, but dashed to help. Ernie was already frantically shoving things into his backpack. Luna picked up The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2 in her left arm and Voyages with Vampires in her right hand and put them in Ernie's bag. Ernie's face shows a mix of confused and grateful.

"Why did you help me? Aren't you mad at me?"

"I don't get mad at anyone for long. I've heard good things about you. I don't believe anyone is all bad,"

"Even You-Know-Who?"

Luna cocked her head to the side slightly. "Everyone is either good or bad. But everyone's also completely capable of switching sides. But He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named obviously doesn't seem like the kind of person who would want to, don't you think? The only person that can switch whether you're a good or bad person is yourself,"

"...Huh. I guess you really are one true Ravenclaw," Ernie gave Luna a small grin and walked away.

But before he went out of sight, Luna called, "Also, I didn't want you to lose any of your things to Nargles. Today's an indescribably good day for them,"
