James has always liked his best friend since they meet on the train all those years ago, but he was never sure if she liked him back. She was amazing, smart, and loved to play Quidditch. I mean, what's not to like about her? He remembered meeting her for the first time, it was stuck in his mind whenever he saw her, he guessed this was what 'Love at First sight' was. James honestly didn't think she liked him back, but he wasn't sure. What could Aquarius Black possibly like about James Potter? He was messy, played Pranks, hated to read. He could go on and on but he really couldn't think of anything else. He was against everything Aquarius was against. She loved to read, her favourite book being Most Potent Potions. She was neat and tidy, her long hair always put into a loose bun or braid during Practice. The only thing they had in common was that they both played pranks. James could get himself lost in her Grey eyes, which weren't the same shade as her sisters, but we're pretty close. In the wizarding world, the moment you were born, your skin lights up wherever your soulmate touches you first.
His skin lit up in handmark like shapes on his forearms. When Aquarius first meet him, the train had moved, making Aquarius fall into his lap, her hands gripping his arms like a lifeline. He felt a shiver go down his spine the first time she touched her.
"Potter? Potter! POTTER!" James shook his head, surprised to see his classmate, Hayley Richardson looking at him, impatiently. What was wrong with her?
"What is it Richardson?" He was only a 4th year, but he could already tell that Hayley wasn't in a mood to be messed around with. Hayley replied,
"The Quidditch Game is about to start! You know, the December game against the Ravenclaws? You know, the one you're playing in?" James jumped up and started running, thanking Hayley over his shoulder. Oh no... Aquarius was going to kill him.
Did he mention that Aquarius was the team captain? Though the 13-year-old was really short, she was still a wicked Seeker. His birthday was a month ago, in November. Aquarius' was only in April. So, she was still 13. He was pulled back to the present when Aquarius shouted at the team.
"We are about to play against the Eagles! Rose, this is your first game against them, please pay attention, they are fast and have the best Chasers out of all the teams! Fred and Frank!" James laughed softly and watched Aquarius turn on them, Frank was Aquarius' boyfriend and he was a 5th year. Fred was James' cousin and there best friend. Longbottom and Fred were the Beaters and were probably the best the Team had ever had.
"Now my Chasers! James! Roxanne! Rose!" James turned his attention to Aquarius and listened to her. "Rose? I want you to follow any directions Roxanne gives you, Ok? And James, I want you to be the main leader for the Chasers today, will you?" James felt his insides lit up with Pride. Aquarius said he could be the leader this time, not Roxanne. Roxanne was their other best friend. James saluted and stood proudly, like a peacock. He watched as Aquarius rounded on Charlie Morgan, a 3rd year. Charlie and tall and had broad shoulders. His dirty blonde hair and brown eyes were sharp and smooth, giving him a look like he was one of those kids who posed in Fashion Magazines. James rolled his eyes as he watched Charlie trying to flirt with Aquarius, he was just a little jealous, but Charlie should know better than to flirt with Aquarius Black while she was dating someone.
When the team was in the air, Aquarius turned to James and looked at him. She said,
"I'm sure you'll do great James." She kissed him on the cheek and she took off into the air. James felt his cheek heat up where Aquarius had kissed him. Was this Aquarius' way of flirting? James shook his head and followed Aquarius up into the air. His stomach felt like it was full of Butterflies, and they weren't just because of the big game.
James winced, Gryffindor was losing, Roxanne had taken bludger to the head and was out. Rose was totally lost and kept missing the goals. They were down by 200 points, they needed at least 60 more and the Snitch if they were gonna win this thing. James signalled Aquarius for a timeout. Aquarius nodded and the game paused, their team going to the floor.
"What is up with our team right now? We usually are better than this!" Aquarius didn't sound angry, but she sounded disappointed. James deflated like a balloon. Aquarius was disappointed in them? He stood up straight and went over, and talked to the team.
"Guys, we are failing so hard right now, this game is going so peachy, but we need to step up our game! We need to win!" He said, pumping his fist in the air. Aquarius looked at him and grinned, James felt the normal swooping sensation in his stomach. Aquarius nodded to each member of the team and they flew up in the air, Aquarius turned to face the Ravenclaw Captain. James laughed as he watched Aquarius smirk at the Captain, the Captain shuddering in fright.
James watched with wide eyes as Aquarius and the Ravenclaw Seeker, Belby he believed, chase after the Snitch. It seemed like the whole stadium was holding its breath as they pursued after the Snitch. He clapped his hands as Aquarius caught the Snitch and the whole Gryffindor Stadium exploded into cheers. James walked over to Aquarius and congratulated her. Aquarius' smile made him more pleased than he would have been.
James sat on a bench, he was so tired that he didn't go to the party. They won, so Gryffindor was next in line for the cup, with Slytherin ahead of them. He looked up as he felt the bench go down under him, he grinned as he saw his godsister and godbrother sit next to him, both on either side of him. His godbrother, Edward Lupin, looked at him in concern, while his godsister, Lesalena was looking at her nails. Edward said,
"Alright?" James nodded. Edward, also known as Teddy, was the Defense Professor at Hogwarts, while Les was the Transfiguration teacher. Edward was a half time Auror, while Les was an actress.
"Are you positive about that James? You don't look so good." Lesalena said sceptically, her sparkly blue eyes narrowing in suspicion. James then said with annoyance,
"Alright, I was thinking, happy?" Les smirked and stated,
"About Aquarius?" James nodded then jerked his head up. What?
"Oh come on James! Everyone knows you fancy Aquarius! She is really fit, I don't know anyone who doesn't think she's pretty. Even Edward knows about it, and he's such a git!" James laughed as he watched Teddy shuffle nervously.
"Wait...You did know about it, didn't you Edward" Ted shook his head no. "Edward!" James laughed, bringing the Twins attention to him.
James shook his head sadly and said, "I don't think Aquarius likes me in that way."
Les looked at him and she grinned. "Oh no, I think Aquarius DOES like you in that way, she just doesn't know it."
James looked at her like she was mad. "What makes you think that she likes me?"
Edward spoke up, "Whenever we go to Malfoy Manor and we bring you up, she talks about you like she's your lover." James let his jaw drop, his mind racing. Aquarius liked him? Like, Like-Like him?
Edward sighed and said, "Go talk to her, would you James? If you like her, then you should ask her out!"
James shook his head and collapsed against the wall. James finally knew that Aquarius liked him, he just needs to make his move.
And he will, one day.
