Well, I'm publishing this both to fight against my writer's block and to test a new story I'm having in my own head since months. This oneshot would be a plotless 'distant prologue' of sorts for a crossover between Call of Duty and a anime I'll not name here (It's based into something I found in SB), where the main divergence in CoD's part is Bell surviving Adler's backstab, but it can be enjoyed as its own thing (Especially if the MP/Warzone storyline for Cold War ends derailing the backstory for the xover I have for now).

So for now, enjoy.

Since the day where he made the choice to accept the forced turn into a new leaf the CIA and MI6 imposed into him, which was rewarded with a bullet to the chest and an almost permanent bath in the cold waters of Solovetsky, Yakov "Bell" Vaganov wanted to stay far away from the machinations of the Cold War. Sadly, his first hideout turned out to be Nicaragua, and circumstances forced him to get stuck in fights first against the Sadinistas, then the Contras, and even Manuel Noriega himself; in resume, a complete mess. Not helped by the fact he ended at odds against one of the arseholes responsible for Project Greenlight. CIA Agent Jason Hudson.

Realizing that hiding in the USA's backyard was a stupid idea, he went to Japan, and despite the existence of their own brand of communist lunatics – the Japanese Red Army (JRA) – Bell could manage to get a job as a janitor – and occasional 'trouble solver' – in the Higa Zaibatsu, some high shots in the medicine industry. Bell was sure he found the perfect place to lay low and face his demons in peace while Russel Adler and Perseus kept trying to kill each other.

That was until he was sent to deal with a medium-ranking yakuza who offended the wife of the CEO and found the lil' prick talking with Adler himself in the flesh. In the ensuring shootout, Bell discovered that to his dismay that Perseus was using the JRA to his latest plan to destroy both the USA and the URSS and remake the latter as 'Greater Russia'. In exchange of not ratting him out to the CIA, 'Great Leader' Higa ordered Bell to go against his former comrades (again) like the good little capitalist pawn he was, at least in the parts that directly affected the company.

Which led to this moment: Bell just won a firefight against Roman "Knight" Gray, an Irishman psychopath who used to work for MI6 (bunch of twats that lot, he really should've saved Lazar instead back in Cuba), but now threw his lot with Perseus because of course a rogue Soviet agent would give him a bigger quantity and variety of people to kill.

The Soviet Super-Agent was really scrapping the bottom of the barrel since Bell's brainwashing. Stitch was one thing, but…

Yakov "Bell" Vaganov. Higa Zaibatsu Assassin

Tokyo, Japan

0015 hours May 3, 1988

...Right, Bell had Knight a gunpoint after that latter made a mistake by shooting at JRA goons who were infiltrating Higa Zaibatsu, and their friends pretty much left Bell to kick his arse. Bell tried to interrogate him, but the Irish kept his mouth shut except to insult him. At least they kept that perk the new recruits.

"Perseus is disappointed on you, lad." Knight growled as he was prone in the street. "From his best operative to a petty lickarse for yellow capitalists. What a fuckin' joke you've become."

"And yet you're the one bleeding all over this floor." The former Soviet agent replied, smoke still coming out of his SIG Sauer P220 pistol. "But you couldn't care less about the fate about the workers of the World. You just want to watch the world burn."

"Oh please. Don't give me that load of bollocks." Knight snarled back. "At least I'm finally honest with what I want, while you've become scared of doing what has to be done!"

"Turning all of Europe into a nuclear wasteland is not a price I'm willing to pay to create a better world, even less to ensure that the CIA answer for their crimes." Bell notices a large mob of JRA insurgents getting closer. "But I think you should be worried about the present instead."

"Hey, you yellow bastards!" Bell shouted at the armed crowd in their tongue. "Were you looking for the cunt who screwed your moles over? I think I found him. Come over – He's all yours!"

The remaining JRA men surrounded both Bell and Knight, but it was clear their hatred was directed at the latter.

"Last chance, Paddy." Bell growled. "Talk, and I'll convince them to give you a mere beat down instead of the commie version of Nanking."

"Oh really?" an American voice interjected and the JRA looked around to find him. "Then better get in line!" a group of US Green Berets operatives showed themselves in the roofs and upper floors of the houses nearby and one of them fired a M72 LAW Rocket Launcher right at the center of the street, turning Knight and those closest to him into chucky salsa and pushing the rest away, including Bell.

Bell quickly got himself afoot as all hell broke loose, as the Berets were reinforced by JGSDF squads in the streets and fired upon the JRA. The former Soviet agent scrambled his way far from the shootout, only to be met by Japanese soldiers. One of them charged at Bell, who grabbed the soldier's Howa Type 64 battle rifle and pushed it into his face. Then Bell used his foe as a human shield to kill his squad mates with their own rifle, and then he pulled the pin of the last survivor and kicked him to a group of JRA nearby, blowing them all up.

'You'll not find respite until you punish the ambushers.' The voice of Perseus resonated in Bell's head, and the rogue Soviet cursed the fact it was correct. He hastily entered one of the houses occupied by the Americans and quickly eliminated two of them in the living room by stabbing the first three times with his knife and then hitting the second with a whip from the first's M16A2 rifle, followed by a 'Mozambique spray'.

"Throwing flashbangs!" one of the operators from above alerted his teammates, and Bell quicky took cover behind a couch and closed his eyes. Once the appropriate sound was heard, the Green Berets jumped down and opened fire at the living, forcing Bell to stick to the floor. Once the fire died down, Bell immediately retaliated by killing three out of five by quick bursts with the rifle, followed by grabbing the fourth's right arm, breaking it with his palm and taking the SOF's own M1911 to blow his head off. The last operator was frozen with fear by the display and Bell replied by stabbing him many times in the gut, with the last strike right in the neck.

"Fireteam Lancer," Bell heard Lawrence Sims' voice – the number two of Adler since Vietnam – in the Berets' audiphones and grabbed it. "Has Bell been terminated?"

"Not yet, suka." Sims immediately killed the call.

Bell took a look outside and he saw the JRA barely resisting the onslaught of the SOF and the JGSDF the best they could, but he knew they wouldn't last more than a minute before the CIA's goons went after him. Bell looted some frags, flashbangs and magazines and ran up the roof. There he identified three more SOF fireteams in his side of the street and another four in the other side, all above the roofs; plus at least a pair of SDF platoons on the ground covering each exit of the street.

Aiming to win some time, Bell dropped a frag grenade at the SDF platoon closest to him and used the chaos brought by the explosion to jump to the next roof at the left of the first house and massacre the fireteam there with the stole rifle. The Berets from the next house realized what happened and fired upon Bell, who was forced to jump down a balcony hide there. This small reprieve wouldn't last, as Bell noticed the same bastard with the M72 LAW was now aiming at him from the other side of the street and quickly fired the rocket. Bell had to jump outside before he was caught in the explosion.

His legs were aching with pain, but Bell pushed forth and in the open door of the backyard of the house, he threw a flashbang outside. Good timing, because it blinded a JGSDF squad, giving Bell time to kill them all before they regained their vision. That didn't stop the two remaining SOF fireteams in this side of the road focus themselves on killing him. Bell then went inside the house closest to him and he kicked the door, only to be greeted by the sound of a proximity mine activating. Bell slipped into the kitchen and found two Green Berets whose surprise and death were covered by the mine exploding. Bell then quickly went upstairs and threw his last flashbang, which allowed him to quickly finish off the rest of the fireteam.

The fourth group of Green Berets put themselves into the upper floor and all of them laid suppressive fire at Bell from their house to his across the windows. Bell used this time to grab the fallen fireteam's frags and once his foes had to reload, Bell threw six grenades at them. As the explosions leveled the floor, Bell scoured for more resources and another microphone to see how the battle was going.

"My legs! Somebody help me…!" The last survivor of the fourth fireteam moaned in pain. Bell considered it good enough.

"Central to all remaining fireteams," This time, it was Adler himself who was speaking. "What's your status?"

"Knight and the JRA insurgents are KIA," Indeed, the rebels were finally cut down by their compatriots and the remaining SOG section. "But we lost half our operators at the hands of Bell, and it seems he's still in fighting shape."

"All units," Adler ordered. "You must eliminate Bell at all costs. Just in case, we are sending Delta squads reinforcements at your AO. ETA five minutes."

"Thanks for the heads up, asshole." Bell snarked in the communication channel.

"Hudson was right about you all along, kid." Adler replied before cutting communications.

Bell cursed as he saw the Japanese soldiers now moving to surround his position. He first threw another frag to the group in the street between the surviving SOG, followed by a smoke grenade to blind the rest. This confused the SDF platoons and blocked to sight of the Green Berets, allowing Bell to cross the street and enter into the house where was positioned the fifth SOG fireteam. The Americans weren't prepared for him, and they all died quickly for it. Yet the SDF recovered their wits and laid a massive suppressive fire, forcing Bell to crawl away in the backside of the house.

Four minutes.

Even with the heavy fire from the Howas, Bell noticed that a few Berets were flanking his position, so the Soviet prepared himself to greet them, yet the constant fire from the JDF made it hard to concentrate.

'What are you waiting for? Attack!' Perseus' voice urged him once again.

"Not yet…" Bell hissed. He heard the Americans give the Japanese orders to cease fire, then they threw a flashbang which Bell closed his eyes to avoid. Immediately two Berets entered as Point Men, and they were greeted by a stab in the neck and headshot by the first victim's pistol. Bell immediately tackled the next Beret and used him as a shield to eliminate the rest of the fireteam, and then he finished him off with another stab in the neck.

Three minutes.

"I see one, two, thre-oh shit." A pair of SDF fireteams followed the SOG's route and taking them down was easier, but their fellows were far numerous than Adler's goons. Bell threw a frag to the nearest squad and made a run for it, but then he noticed the fireteam with the Rocket Launcher went out of their house and had him on their sights. Bell laid suppressive fire at the car they were taking cover, but they replied by throwing frags at him. Bell had to leave his position and ran past the fire from the remaining Americans and Japanese. He managed to find a car of his own and turned around to eliminate a SDF squads that were already flaking him, but he noticed the soldier with the rocket launcher was already aiming at the soon to be explosive cover.

As the M72 LAW opened fire, Bell vaulted over his cover in direction of the shooters and didn't stop even as the car exploded behind him, and bullets grazed his arms. He fired upon the Americans, picking off two men out of cover, then he lunged to a third to use him as shield.

Two minutes.

Bell grabs his prisoner's pistol and opens close fire upon the SOG operatives, their blood spraying in his face. Only the man with LAW was left, so Bell threw the now dead human shield at him, then he used the confusion to bring him down and whack him with his rifle until the face stopped resembling a face. Bell quickly searched and found that the last Green Beret fireteam lay inside a house behind squads of Japanese. He grabbed the rocket launcher, checked it was loaded and fired upon the home. He must've hit some big can of gas, because the house blew up to kingdom come, stopping the remaining SDF forces in their tracks, gazing in awe the destruction Bell brought.

The Soviet jumped out of his cover, opening his arms in defiance and completely disarmed, glaring at the Japanese soldiers.

"Which one of you still want to meet their ancestors tonight!?" Bell shouted, showing his bloodied clothes at the Japanese soldiers.

"Retreat!" A the order of their highest-ranking survivor, the SDF left the streets, unwilling to resist one minute more for the arrival of the Delta Force. Bell would've shot at the last stragglers, but he was already tired of all this killing.

'I think you should leave now.' Bell didn't disagree with 'Perseus' suggestion. He would really need to stay low for a few days.

"Jesus Fucking Christ." Terrell Wolf, Delta Force sniper, contemplated the absolute carnage in the disastrous OP. Despite the Japanese Intelligence's best efforts in the clean-up, it would be hard to hide the fact Tokyo just had suffered a level of violence not seen since World War Two. "Those many good men, all dead because of one very upset Soviet."

"Indeed." Lawrence Sims commented, accompanying his fellow Afro-American in analyzing the carnage. "After the mess with Stitch, I should've expected that Bell would be this mad at Doc for what we did to him."

"And to think this is him after Russ gave him a conscience." Wolf sighed. "Should we thank God that he hasn't rejoined with Perseus yet?"

"You should thank that Bell found some allies in the Yakuza of all people, and that Perseus never forgave him for ruining his plans for the Greenlight Project."

"What kind of project was this Greenlight thing?"

"The kind you don't ask about."

Both black men kept their inspection of the AO, but it was clear Bell managed to slip away once again. Then Sims got a call from his cellphone.

"Doc?"

"Sims, is Bell still alive?"

"It seems so."

"Black's not going to be happy about this." Adler sighed. "Luckily, we did find something in the meantime."

"What it is?"

"Bell's not the only former Perseus agent in this city…"

And done, for anyone following me for my other story, I promise I have the next chapter almost ready (and that I'll not post the CoD xover until I posted that chapter, the Cold War's MP storyline finishes and gather enough guts to asks for permition/blessings to the ones who gave me the inspiration).

Please, Read & Review.
