Fatespinner slammed his claws into the rock walls, and accomplished nothing. Queen Glory had imprisoned him, and she and the other queens had gone to his strongholds and torn them apart. None of his followers had escaped. He could hear some of them in the cells near his, but knew he could never work with them again.

A dull pain pulsed along his spine, marching up his neck to the base of his skull. He closed his eyes and saw himself sitting in the same dungeon he was in now, only in the vision he was much older. He saw Spark on the NightWing island, the bracelet gone from his wrist. Another dragon was next to the SkyWing, but Fatespinner couldn't make it out clearly. Spark appeared to be talking with the other dragon. He saw Hurricane on an island with Firestorm and the two MudWings, sharing a fish. He saw the IceWing next to Queen Glacier's palace, looking happy and content. And lastly, he saw Cobra and Truthseeker on either side of Queen Glory while Greatclaws stood on trial.

The visions ended, and Fatespinner buried his snout in his claws. He had lost. His rebellion was over before it had even started. Even Queen Scarlet had turned against him. He had seen that he would never escape the dungeons of his queen.

Firestorm and Hurricane stood on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the sea. The coast of the Mud Kingdom was visible beside them, and Caiman and Cougar were resting happily in the mud pools.

"Didn't Queen Coral offer you a place in the Deep Palace?" Firestorm asked.

"She did, but I declined. I was happy here. This is my home. I wouldn't really be happy anywhere else." Hurricane thought about the SeaWing palaces. Even if she had stayed, she would always be an outcast. Some of the SeaWings would accept her, but most would see her the same way they always had.

Hurricane smiled at Firestorm. "What will you do now? Where will you go?"

Firestorm shrugged. "I don't know. Even if Scarlet decides to let me live in the Sky Kingdom, I don't think I could. Even when Ruby was queen, it never felt like somewhere I could spend the rest of my life."

"You could stay here if you want," Hurricane offered.

Firestorm's heart felt lighter at her friend's offer. "Really?"

But even as she said that, she knew Hurricane meant it. Hurricane was offering her a home.

"I would love to," she replied, smiling broadly.

On the coast, Caiman pulled himself out of the mud, watching Firestorm and Hurricane flying over the sea. Cougar followed him out, brushing some mud off her amber-colored scales.

"Do you think she'll stay?" she asked.

Caiman grinned. "Absolutely." Hurricane had told them in advance how she would ask Firestorm to stay with her.

The two MudWings climbed quickly into the sky to join their friends above the ocean waves.

Frost was back in the cold, empty plains of the Ice Kingdom. He would miss his friends, but he had also missed the freezing winds of the tundra and the wide-open space. His scroll case was hidden somewhere safe, though he knew he didn't have to worry anymore. Maybe someday he would try to enchant his own dreamvisitor, as he had given theirs to Hurricane, Caiman, and Cougar. He knew they would use it well. Cobra and Truthseeker were going to stay in the Rainforest Kingdom, and help Queen Glory decide on what to do with the rest of Fatespinner's followers. Peril had stayed in the Night Kingdom, in the hopes that she could help Spark recover from his abuse. He had wished her luck, but he doubted there was much she could do. A dragon's mind was not like a puzzle that could be easily put together if it was broken.

Peril stood at the edge of a lava river. She would be lying if she said she liked the Night Kingdom, with the faint smell of smoke everywhere, but it was the safest place for her to try to help Spark regain his sanity. She knew it would be hard, but she couldn't just do nothing. She couldn't watch him suffer in his insanity without at least trying. After about a month, Spark seemed to be a bit calmer, but

Peril wasn't sure whether or not that was because he knew he couldn't hurt her.

Suddenly, she heard something from behind her. She turned and saw Spark standing behind her. His eyes seemed more focused than before, and he seemed to really see her when he hadn't before.

Suddenly, his mouth moved. He made a sound that sounded like 'why.'

"Why?" Peril said. "Is that it?"

Spark nodded slightly. "Why."

"Because you shouldn't have had to live like that," Peril told him. And maybe if I help you, I can begin to make up for all the things I've done.

Cobra curled up next to Kapok, who had fallen over himself for the past few days apologizing for what he had said to her on the day she had escaped the Kingdom of Sand. She had told him dozens of times that she understood and that she forgave him, but she could tell he still felt terrible.

She sighed softly. Give it time, she told herself. Just give it time. He'll be back to normal soon.

In the meantime, Queen Glory had asked her and Truthseeker to help her put Fatespinner's followers on trial. The two of them knew his crimes better than any other dragon in the rainforest, and they were both happy to help her.

"Cobra?" Kapok said hesitantly. "Did you have any luck finding your mother when you went to the desert?"

Cobra laughed. "No, I didn't." With all that had happened to her since then, she had forgotten all about why she had gone to the desert in the first place.

And here we finally are. The end of my unrevised, barely-edited, flying-by-the-seat-of-my-pants first draft. I'm still not promising a revised version. But I hope this story entertained some of you anyway. Thanks for sticking with this thing for so long. Thanks to everyone who reviewed, and if you have further comments feel free to send them.
