Rachel Berry

It all happened so fast, I remember being slapped hard across the face, that disgusting man pulling my hair while saying depraved things and the next moment I was getting ready to be shot that would possibly end my life, but the shot never reached my fragile body.

My eyes opened in surprise and I realized that my best friend had stepped in front to protect me from that tragedy. The next moment I am on my knees on the floor with the unconscious Latina in my arms, I managed to give a little smile with her last sentence before passing out. There is so much blood on my hands, my clothes are ruined and the floor is splattered with thick drops of blood. Santana is not answering me and my heart is fearful, because I don't want to lose my best friend.

-Rachel! -Quinn was limping when she got up from the floor, but ran towards us to give me an awkward hug and try to calm me down somehow.

-Get back! -Two men in hospital clothes came over to take my friend out of my arms and two more paramedics came over to help us.

-We still have a pulse! -One of them commented, but I couldn't hear the rest of it as Quinn pulled me with the help of a paramedic away from Santana, as the doctors needed room to work and save my best Latina friend.

The following memories are nothing but dark blurs, all I know is that one moment I was in the ambulance with a nurse examining my face and the next I am following a stretcher through the white corridors of the damn hospital. The fear I am feeling is making me tremble, I am afraid of losing my friend, for Santana is pale.

At no point during that commute did I worry about my little girl who is kicking uncontrollably in my belly. My agitation results in her irritation.

-You can't go any further, young lady! -A nurse touched my shoulders and stopped me.

-I'LL GO WITH YOU, IT'S MY FRIEND WHO'S ON THAT STRETCHER! -I shouted as I tried to push the man away and continue on my way, but Finn held me by the waist carefully and forcefully so that I wouldn't overtake him. -Santana!

-You need to calm down! -Finn commented as he pushed a little to keep me still in that hallway. -Think of the baby, Rachel! -Reality hit me in a mute thud and I calmed down immediately, because I want my little girl to be okay, but the crying continued copiously.

Finn escorted me to one of the chairs in the reception room, I wonder if Quinn is okay, as my girlfriend has been assigned some x-rays to verify that no ribs were damaged from the kicks she received. The reception desk is empty, but the loud sound of sirens made me look out the window and it was just in time to see Christopher's body passing on a stretcher to be taken to the morgue and a stretcher with Stephanny on it passed soon after, but the redhead was alive and needed to be taken to an operating room extremely quickly.

I know it's wrong to wish someone dead, but I hope Stephanny doesn't come back.

-Love, are you all right? -Quinn approached quickly, even though she was limping.

I wanted to hug her with all my might, kiss her with all the passion in the world, and give her one of my endless monologues, but the words wouldn't come out and my heart was in that operating room with Santana at the moment.

Quinn understood that I was not ready for a conversation and she just hugged me.

-Here... -Puck showed up about ten minutes later with a glass of juice and a sandwich. -You need to eat something, Jewish princess. -He commented, but my eyes remained fixed on some fixed point on the floor and I remained silent.

"They should have given us some news about Santana by now!"

-Take the juice at least. -Quinn's voice seemed distant, but the blonde was next door. But, I remained shrouded in a mournful silence and attention continued on the white floors. -Think of our daughter, Rachel! -Quinn commented, but I remained silent. My daughter is fine, she can wait for a little while, she can wait until we get some news.

-The guys are coming. -Puck remarked and I nodded my head in agreement.

-She's starting to scare me! -Finn commented and waved her hands in front of my face. -Earth calling, Rachel! -He was trying to bring me back to reality.

-She's in shock. -I heard my father's voice in the distance. My heart leapt for joy, but I continued standing in the same place, as my body seemed petrified. -This is because the trauma has not yet ended its process, because, in this first direct reaction, the mind has not yet accepted the fact. -My vision is blurred.

-Santana... -I managed to murmur, and they stared at me, overcome with pity.

My father bent down in front of me, took my hands and said the following words:

-She didn't have any internal bleeding and no organs were hit by the bullet, but your friend fractured some ribs and will need to be laid up for a few days, but, we can only declare her out of danger after the extraction surgery is over, okay? -she asked and I nodded positively. -Try to bring her back, because the emotional shock could do some harm to my granddaughter! -he asked Quinn.

-I'll do my best! -Quinn murmured next to me and hugged me lovingly.

Meanwhile in one of the operating rooms of the hospital the bullet had been removed from the Latin body without mishap, Santana was out of danger, but would need a blood transfusion, as she had lost a reasonable amount of the precious liquid.

Already in the emergency room, the doctors were doing the possible and the impossible to control Stephanny's internal bleeding; she had some organs perforated and was losing a lot of blood. She might not survive that surgery, but the doctors would fight.
