I own nothing.

It was a great day for everyone DOD gone, the town and planet were saved once again. And now everyone is relaxing at a little friendly barbecue at the Cushings place. For Jordan of course he went off with Sarah for simple reasons. While Jonathan was inside gaming with a few of his football buddies. Unfortunately to his disadvantage he hadn't come up with a single win yet not that it really mattered to him.

"Man you just can't seem to catch a win can you!" His friend noted.

While off to the side by the door in came the only girl to catch Jon's eye none other than Tegan Wickhem. It didn't take him more than a moment to notice her as she turned her attention to the living room where he was. When their eyes met Tegan couldn't help but give a warm smile at him.

Jonathan happily returned the gesture, "Wouldn't be so sure!" He replied aimlessly not breaking eye contact with her.

Before he knew it he was already off the couch his feet carrying him with a will of their own over to the dark haired beauty.

They stopped with a few feet of space still between them. Either one of them still unable to find their voice as all they could do was just keep on smiling wider and wider at one another.

Until finally Tegan caught back up with her train of thought again breaking the silence between them. "Hey new guy!"

Her tone was harmonious and sweet two things that Jonathan has been missing dearly ever since his breakup with his ex back in Metropolis Eliza.

Jon chuckled lightly before replying "Hey Tegan how are you doing?"

She just shrugged slightly, "Good a little peachy but I think it's because of the party."

"Yeah I guess I mean with everything that's happened in these last few months I can understand why everyone's so cheery all of a sudden, honestly I didn't really expect to see you here today though so if you don't mind me digging for answers." Putting in a little joke there in the end.

That brought out a few giggles from her. "Well it kinda spread around that the Cushings were throwing a little party at their place and I also heard that you were here as well and thought maybe we could you know hang out a little bit."

This kinda surprised him a bit Jonathan knew that he and Tegan have a lot of things in common and of course there's the fact that he tried to make a move on her a few weeks back and how well they connected at their friends party a few days ago, but he never suspected that she wanted to take things up a notch in getting to know each other.

He blinks a few times before responding but eventually he manages to find his words. "Wow, I didn't really expect that I mean I know that after you told me you wanted to clear the air between us that you really wanted to get to know me that I guess you just meant mutually get to know each other but now I'm thinking maybe I've become quite bad with mixed messages myself."

This time Tegan laughs a little, "Well I get you can add that to the list of things we have in common then huh!" Nudging him slightly.

"So if you not doing anything I was wondering if your not doing anything how about we got to a nice quote spot outside and hang out for a bit!" wiggling her eyebrows.

Jonathan sighs to himself before turning back to his other friends in the room. "Hey guys don't wait up for me I'm gonna go outside and get some air."

His friends could see through that lie in a instant. A few of them were giving him teasing looks which he was greatly trying to ignore.

Tegan took his hand and walked with him out the door to a more secluded and less crowded area were there were a couple of chairs for them to sit down on next to each other.

"So it's a nice day out isn't it!" Jonathan points out gazing up at the sky.

Tegan chuckles lightly before commenting. "Yeah I guess it is!"

Jonathan looks back to her and gets the 'seriously!' Look from her. Before they both start sniggering at how awkward the situation is right now.

"I'm sorry it's just I'm not really use to being approached and asked to you know hang out by a pretty girl everyday." He admitted scratching the back of his head nervously.

"Well look who's quite the charmer it's good to know that there's at least one guy around here that thinks I'm pretty!" She sarcastically complements.

"Obviously it's been a long time since you've looked at yourself in the mirror because they don't lie and neither do my eyes Tegan!"

Tegan brushes a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Before giving him a kind smile.

"You know this is what I miss the most!" Jonathan says with a sad sigh.

"What?"

"This. This right here you know just having everything figured out in your life but then when so many things happen to you your not sure what's good or bad anymore. But ever since I came here everything's been in flux nothing seems to stay solid really anymore for me and yet when I'm with you it feels like everything else fades away and finally there's something good for once that isn't going to change anytime soon." The emotion and sincerity in his voice was heartfelt. Well at least to her that is.

Tegan's face was a mixture of emotions but the primary one that dominated was concern for Jonathan. She knew that it wasn't easy starting over but the way he spoke almost had an unsettling weight behind his words. She felt a tinge of pain to see him like that.

She reached over and slid her hand into his intertwining their fingers. He seemed comforted by the gesture.

"You know before when you asked me out a few weeks back and I said that you seemed like sweet guy well I was wrong your not a sweet guy……your a great guy!" She said with a very bright smile.

Jonathan felt his heart flutter at that. God there was more to this girl than meets the eye indeed.

"Well I really appreciate that Tegan, and to get even I gotta say Sarah was right you are out of my league, because now it feels like your way to good for me sometimes I wonder if your even real and not just some figment of my imagination that I made up."

Before she knew what she was even doing Tegan reached up to cup his face with her hand and slowly leaned in bringing her lips to his in a gentle kiss but full of passion. As the two just stayed there for what felt like eternity embracing the moment between them.

When they finally broke the kiss they gazed into each others eyes for a minute neither one of them fully grasping what just happened.

"Does that feel real!" She asked with a sultry expression.

"Nah not really but my memory is a little hazy maybe if you do that again it might clear things up!" He joked. Causing her to burst into a series of giggles.

"I'll take that as a yes then!" She said in between laughs.

He just nodded.

"So what now?"

She took a moment before answering. "Well I did say that I would show you around and I can't think of any better time then now what do you say new guy!"

He chuckled in acceptance. "Okay, sounds like a plan to me lead the way then!"

With that they stood up hand in hand Tegan and Jonathan then walked down the street and drove off in her car for what was no doubt the best day of Jonathan's life as far as he knows. Even in a town like Smallville big things can happen.
