I don't own anything! This is my first fanfic and it's based on my favorite episode of the Superman series Smallville which to be honest I don't even watch but Charolette Sullivan killed it as Maxima. She felt like a lonely and misunderstood character in my mind when it comes to understanding what love is so that's why I made this to help Maxima find her soulmate and learn about what it means to be human. Also it'll be multiple chapters before I finish. I hope you like it please leave comments and opinions it really motivates me to keep going. Enjoy!

It has been just like any other day for Clyde considering what normal actually means these days especially since the biggest bomb got dropped on him several years ago when his long lasting best friend Clark Kent revealed to him that he did not only have powers but was also an alien seriously an actual alien a being not of this world. Almost anything ever since hadn't really seemed to surprise Clyde. But what he didn't know was that something big was heading his way.

Clark called Clyde this morning asking him to stop by his house out in Smallville since he was…busy with something in Metropolis. And of course like any other good friend Clyde graciously accepted. Grabbing his wallet and car keys and headed out for his hometown of Smallville. The drive took a little longer than expected but then again he wasn't really in any rush since he didn't have work today one of the few days off that Clyde actually got. Anyways about an hour almost two later he arrived at the Kent farm as the sun bared over his head illuminating the paint on the house and the surrounding area as well. Clyde ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair walking up the steps taking the spare key from under the welcome mat unlocking the door entering the house.

Closing the door behind him Clyde let out a sigh Clark told him over the phone that he left a list of what he wanted Clyde to do on the counter he walked into the kitchen and saw the list but before he could grab it he started to hear a low rumbling noise his brown eyes darted here and there all over the kitchen hearing glasses in the cupboards rattling and shaking violently. Clyde's eyes widened with fear as if an earthquake or tornado was about to roll through but then down the hall there was a strange sound and a purple light emanating from the walls his facial features changed from fear to curiosity. Half a second later there was a loud booming sound with a bright flash of light coming from down the down the hall and everything suddenly went quiet as if it never happened at all.

Honestly Clyde was beginning to wonder if what just happened a moment ago was real or if it was in his head he slowly walked over to the corner of the kitchen enterance peering down the hall to see if there was anything there and there wasn't which made Clyde let out a breath of relief putting a hand to his chest to calm his heart. He turned to walk back to the kitchen counter when he heard a small sound coming from the living room down the hall as well as what Clyde could only guess to be the sound of heels clicking against the wooden floorboards.

Clyde unfortunately forgot his cell phone outside in his car and the home phone was in the other room. Trying to get his brain working again Clyde caught a quick glimpse at the butchers block full of knives and took the biggest one grabbing it by the handle raising it over his head his wrist slightly shaking slowly making his way down the hall and into the living room but when Clyde turns the corner ready to fight like his life depended on it he immediately falls into a trace caught like a deer in headlight really bright ones.

The vision before him is one of extreme beauty almost heavenly. There is a woman who looks about his age that is an inch or two shorter than himself. She had milky pale white skin, glossy lips, hazel eyes, a perky chest, killer curves, flawless legs, well rounded ass, and crimson blazing red hair that looked almost too perfect to be natural. She wore a dark green outfit that looked unlike anything Clyde had ever seen before then again when it came to girls and women he'd seen many during his time in high school and after that but none of them were built like this knockout redhead of a goddess that stood before him. The green leather outfit itself looked almost like a dominatrix outfit of some that really showed off her figure with thin golden edges on the material.

The woman was completely unaware of his presence that was until Clyde became so mesmerized by her beauty that he unintentionally dropped the the knife in hand hitting the floor with a loud clatter that got the woman's attention snapping her head towards the source of the noise noticing a young man with thick dirty blonde hair and tanned skin wearing what the people of earth called jeans blue ones and a white t-shirt with a opened short sleeve button down over it with a red and black spare pattern on it. She looked down and noticed the small weapon on the ground a foot away from the man who's face looked completely terrified with his eyes looking as if they were about to fall out of his head looking back and forth between the weapon and her. He took a step back raising his hands in surrender. It didn't take her long to figure out how the weapon and him got there and more importantly what he was most likely planning to do to her. Rage swelled up inside of her. How dare this weak human try to attack the Queen of Almerac!

Clyde messed up big time trying to back away now out in the open for her to see the woman had clearly figured out what he was planning to do with the kitchen knife. He kept backing away trying to find his voice but only managed to work his jaw opened and closed over and over again. What happened next almost made him shit his pants. The woman's face became contorted with rage. Before he even knew what hit him in a blur similar to that of Clark's whenever he used his super speed the woman was now a few feet away from him almost arms length apart the redhead grabbed him roughly by the throat with her right hand chocking Clyde hoisting him off the ground pinning him against the wall a few feet in the air with ease as if it were nothing at all.

Clyde desperately tried to break the woman's hold on him but to no avail. Jesus! This woman was almost as strong as Clark is if not stronger. Feeling her grip on his throat tighten her eyes looking up at him she was clearly pissed off. Clyde continued to struggle gasping for air.

"You dare try to attack me the Warrior-Queen of Almerac, you are so foolish!" She spoke in a dangerously warning tone.

She could see him trying to break her grip over and over again becoming desperate for air.

She tore her gaze away from Clyde looking around the house inspecting it almost as if she was trying to find out if she was in the right place. She brought her gaze back to the young man in her grasp.

"Is this the home of Clark Kent/Kal-El the last son of Krypton?" She asked less threatening this time.

Clyde's mind went away from the situation he was currently trapped in at the moment to wonder how she knew Clark or his alien name or the fact that he is an alien at all. Clyde was brought back to reality when the woman tightened her grip on his neck.

"Answer me!" She demanded.

Clyde tried to speak his face turning red from the lack of oxygen. "I-I….c-can't…..breathe!" He managed to utter out to her pointing at her arm.

She understood what he was trying to say and released her grip on his neck watching him fall to the ground with a loud thud laying on his side holding his neck gasping for air taking in a few lungfuls. And letting out a few coughs.

When Clyde finally was able to breath again he sat up from the floor looking back up at the strange woman that was currently towering over him looking down at him as if he were nothing but an ant beneath her foot that she could crush at any time she wanted to.

She grew impatient looking down at the human, "I've released you, now answer my question is this where Kal-El resides?" She repeated with that little twinge of demand in her voice.

Clyde looked back up still holding a hand over his throat nodding, "Yeah, yes it his but Clark isn't here right now." Clyde finally answered.

The woman let out of huff obviously frustrated that Clark wasn't here. Clyde slid away from the woman still on the ground preferring to put a little bit of distance between himself and her before she tries to do anything to him again. He slowly stood up finally letting go of his throat letting his hand fall back to his side.

He looked the woman up and down again now that he had a much closer view, "Who are you and how did you get in here?" Clyde couldn't help but ask.

The woman turned her head back at him now noticing the young man a few feet away from her also taking a note of him inspecting her.

"I am Maxima the Queen of Almerac! And I came here through a portal to claim my soulmate!" Maxima answered pridefully almost taking an offensive turn.

Clyde was both in shock and awe, frightened and extremely aroused all at the same time. So not only was there another planet but there was an insanely drop dead gorgeous alien queen right before him. Damn! Clyde started to wonder if all the women on her planet looked like her or if she was one of a kind. Who was he kidding to be a queen as strong and pretty as her she has to be. Clyde didn't know why but he cleared his throat and did a small bow at…Maxima she said her name was right. God! Even her name sounds so exotic.

Maxima noticed him bow at her her current look of frustration turned into confusion. "What are you doing?" She asked.

Clyde stood straight again, "Oh I'm sorry you said you were a queen I guess I'm just trying to be polite on earth we bow before a king or queen even though we don't have many of those around anymore." Clyde explained. This earned him a small smile from Maxima.

"How interesting considering you were about to about to attack me a moment ago!" Maxima pointed out her voice going from kind to offensive in a split second.

Clyde raised his hands in surrender, "Whoa whoa hold your horses I wasn't going to attack you I thought you were a burglar who broke into the house or something I'm sorry!" Clyde said honestly hoping to God she did forgive him otherwise he didn't want to know what else she could do.

Maxima let out a sigh looking at the ground and back at Clyde, "Well considering the circumstances you are forgiven, now you say Clark Kent isn't here so where is he then?"

Clyde just shrugged his shoulders, "Beats me all I know is that this morning Clark reached out and called me said he had some urgent business to take care of he didn't tell me where or when but what I do know is he won't be back here until way later, speaking of which how do you know Clark anyways if you don't mind me asking!" Clyde said folding his arms across his chest giving her a wary look.

"Not that it's any of your business, but for the sake of your confusion I'll tell you Kal-El…or Clark Kent as you human refer to him is my soulmate not long ago I came to this planet after receiving a distress signal from a Kryptonian beacon I followed it back to this planet from Almerac. When I first arrived here I found many men but none of them were the one that I came for none were the last son of Krypton. But then I finally found him I embraced him as he did me and I'd never been happier in my life to have found my soulmate, my betrothed, my king, my equal! But it all was taken away from my by that earth woman he did what no man had ever been able to do before because of her he rejected me and sent me back to Almerac, well I've come back to claim him and destroy her once and for all!" Maxima finished with a sinister gleam in her eye smiling devilishly.

Clyde was trying to process and digest everything Maxima had just told him. Wow! Honestly wow well as far as possessive women go even for alien ones she sure does take the cake. But before Clyde could get any further into his thought he recalled something that happened about a week ago in Metropolis that Clark told him about an alien who killed a bunch of random men and tried to force him to leave and almost killed Jimmy and Lois who were also his good friends.

Clyde's expression turned sharp, "Wait a minute what was the name of this woman who caused Clark to reject you?" He asked carefully.

Maxima as much as she wishes she could erase her name and her memory of the woman completely she recalled the name completely forever burned into her mind as Clark said it to her. "Lois he said her name is Lois!" Venom clear in her voice.

Clyde let out a half laugh that caused Maxima to turn his way. "I remembered now last week Clark said that an alien from another planet tried to capture him well that was his words but it seems the alien tired to seduce him. You're the one who tried to kill Lois and put my friend Jimmy in the hospital!" Clyde said with sheer anger in his voice pointing at Maxima.

Maxima seemed unaware of who he was referring to but could understand that he also knew the woman named 'Lois' as well turning to face him. "You know them?" She asked.

Clyde nodded still on his emotional high. "You bet I do and you know as much as I want to give you the benefit of the doubt here, but from what Clark told me is that he wasn't very interested in you at least out of his own free will and right state of mind that is and that there really wasn't much of a connect as you think!" Clyde said defiantly.

Maxima was seeing red like a pissed off bull, "How dare you speak to me like that you lowly human! Who do you think you are?" She spat back equally as angry.

But Clyde held his ground proudly knowing it probably wasn't going to end well for him but Clark had always been there for him in ways he could never understand now it was his turn to return the favor for him and Lois. "Oh where are my manners my names Clyde Whalen and I'm Clark's closest and best friend whose known him since he was a little kid and I don't need to ask him to know that you're not a match for him despite both of you being aliens and all that." Clyde defended with a bit of sarcasm.

Maxima flared walking right up to Clyde their faces only mere inches apart but neither one of them flinched. "You don't understand your a human you can't possibly comprehend the power that his race possesses nor my connection to him!" Maxima argued.

Clyde remained calm as ever but gave a smug look throwing his hands up. "You know what your right so-" Clyde stopped and walked into the living room eagerly took a seat on the couch facing her. Maxima didn't know what was going on walking into the room watching curiously what he was doing.

Clyde straightened himself out keeping his smug smile on his face eyeing Maxima. "Please go ahead obviously you seem to know Clark as well as I do being his soulmate, true love, and all that shit so go ahead explain please!" Clyde finished setting his hands in his lap waiting for her to speak.

Maxima let out a amused chuckle at Clyde's antics, "As a little girl I heard about the men of Krypton brave and gallant men, men who were born with power and strength beyond your wildest imagination, men that are worthy of standing by a queen's side, not only that but unlike you humans Kal-El and I are genetically compatible I can give birth to a new generation of Kryptonians restoring a lost race and starting the beginning of a new empire, I can give him the love and pleasures that no earth woman could satisfy we are destined to be together ruling side by side on the throne of Almerac!" She laid out.

A moment of silence passed before Clint let out an amused scoff, "Well forgive me but I hate to break it to you your highness but I don't know what relationships are like on your world but on mine one of the first things you don't understand is love itself. I admit you understand passion, lust, and pleasure, but you don't understand love; love isn't something you demand it's something you earn, on top of that aside from his name and heritage what do you actually know about Clark as a person?" Clyde pointed out waiting for a response.

Maxima for once found herself at a loss for words. This human had just said something similar to what her soulmate did after he stopped her from killing Lois.

Clyde waiting for a response sat there patiently hoping to shoot down another excuse, but the look on Maxima's face said it all she got nothing. "Nothing! You see you don't know anything about him personally who he is, his passion, his friends, his earthly backstory, his family, none of it!" Clyde told her this time Maxima looked as if for once she was going to have to admit defeat.

"And I'll tell you something else your highness but here on earth when you force yourself on someone whether their a man or woman they are interested in pursuing a relationship afterwords usually, so I wouldn't be surprised of Clark gave you a beating the next time he saw your face, no disrespect but you also seem all high and mighty as well which could be another reason why he doesn't like you because you see yourself as a higher life form that's more evolved which I'll admit to a certain extent is true in many ways. But Clark was born to know selflessness, compassion, respect all of the things that I truly believe you don't know he may be a Krptonian but he was raised like any other ordinary lowly human so I'm sorry but I don't think he'll ever give up Lois for you even if you kill her he'll definitely never want to be with you!" Clyde explained to Maxima from his own heart.

Even though Clyde had never been in a relationship or even kissed a girl before still he didn't need to, to know how to be loved. For a moment despite everything that had just happened to him and everything that had transpired between the alien queen and his friends his heart went out to her seeing whatever hope Maxima had left fade away into nothing.

Maxima for once knew it was all in vain she would never obtain her soulmate, her love, her king, the father to the next line of Almeracian royal descendants. A tear rolled down her cheek she wiped it away not wanting the human to see any sign of weakness.

Maxima was finally able to face him again with as much dignity as she could gather. "I apologize it seems you have very insightful perspective and knowledge that I can never seem to possess I'll just leave then and never bother you or the people of earth again and Kal-El will forever be in my mind!" She said more calmly and softly this time.

Clyde could feel the sadness and loneliness coming off of her reaching for her bracelet on her right arm.

"Wait!" Clyde called out after her Maxima ceased in her tracks turning around clearly something had changed in his features.

Clyde closed his eyes letting out a deep sigh, "I can't believe I'm doing this but I guess I'm just a sucker for people who are loners like me, before I say what I have to say tell me one thing and be honest with me…you really want to win Clark's heart?" He asked seriousness clear in his tone.

Maxima looked back and spoke softly, "More than anything I want to show him that I am worthy and that he is the only one in this universe that'll ever be worth of me!" There was no trace of lies in her she spoke sincerely as can be.

Clyde rolled his eyes upward letting out a breath, "I'll make a deal with you, if I teach you how to win him over do you promise not to hurt anyone else?" He offered hesitantly.

Maxima smiled brightly as a new hope was restored in her she walked right up to Clyde placing her hands on his chest their bodies very close. "If you teach me the earth customs and ways of romance to win Clark Kent's heart I swear to you Clyde Whalen as Queen of Almerac you shall be rewarded beyond anything you could possibly desire!" She promised.

Clyde backed up but had a little blush on his cheeks by how close Maxima was to him that and the fact that she touched him he wasn't use to physical contact.

"I'm not doing it for a reward I'm doing it because I want to help you because

I can tell there's some humanity inside of you your highness you just haven't discovered it yet." Clyde admitted. His response caught Maxima off guard no one had ever refused an offer of the riches and pleasures of Almerac before she guess it was part of this selfless act. But somehow it made her heart flutter slightly and she didn't know why.

Clyde put up his hand pointing at her, "But if I'm going to do this there gonna be some conditions four to be exact, first being I'm in charge you listen to me you don't do anything that I don't approve of and we do things my way no exceptions, second is you gotta humble yourself people on earth don't like others who are selfish and careless about what they want out of a relationship which means you've gotta swallow your pride and learn to accept what you can't have regardless that your a queen that's more evolved, third is you can't let Clark know your here and you can't go and see him or Lois at all until we're finished, which brings me to my fourth and last condition when I'm finished teaching you the basics of human relationship and love you have to promise that even if Clark still does reject you that you accept it and promise to leave earth and never come back here again!" Clyde finished Maxima looked slightly frustrated of having to lower herself down to an ordinary human but if that's what it takes to have the last son of Krypton so be it!

"Do we have a deal?" Clyde asked putting his hand out.

Maxima looked at it for a second then looked back up at him, reaching her hand out to take his shaking it. "I accept your terms Clyde Whalen." She answered truthfully.

For a moment both of them could have sworn they felt a small spark sent up themselves when their hands touched. But neither of them said anything.

"That's actually the first lesson on earth when your naturally acquainted with someone you don't call them by their first and last name just call me Clyde please!" He told her.

Maxima nodded, "Then you may refer to me as Maxima!" She offered.

Clyde shrugged, "If you don't mind me asking do you mind if I just call you Max because Maxima sounds a little too formal for me not that there nothing wrong with your name or anything!" He asked nervously.

Max! She thought to herself honestly she kind liked the sound of that, "Very well you can call me Max!" She smiled sweetly and Clyde blushed.

And here we go!
