(No P.O.V.)- Upon the early morning of All Hallows' Eve, in the year of 1693-
It was perhaps a half hour before sunrise, and the village of Salem was much quiet until a haunting, beautiful song was whispered into the wind, echoing through Salem. Inside the house of the Tay family, one young woman was slumbering. Dressed in a silver-fawn nightgown, she has beautiful chocolate brown hair in a braid, warm tan skin, and is fifteen years young.
Her name is Tabitha Isabelle Tay, and she is the sister of Elijah, and the betrothed wife-to-be of Thackery Binx. She opened her gorgeous hazel eyes when she heard distant laughter, and blinked in slight confusion when she couldn't see Elijah in his bed in the far corner, growing concerned when she couldn't hear the crow of the resident fowl as she saw the sky in the window lightening up to the rise of the sun soon enough.
Tabitha then heard a distant call from her betrothed, calling for his little sister, and she gingerly ran to the partly open door, extremely worried now as she then saw her brother staring at something. She followed his stare, and saw strange smoke curling above the treetops of the forest in the distance.
Tabitha then heard Thackery calling out to her brother, and she turned around to see Thackery looking anxious, "Elijah, Elijah, hast thou seen my sister, Emily?", and Elijah shook his head, "Nay. But look. They conjure.", gesturing to the smoke, and Tabitha gasped in horror, realizing that Emily has been lured, hearing Thackery whisper in terror, "Oh, God. The woods!".
Tabitha ran to the sprinting boys, and Elijah shouted in dismay when he saw her, "Tabitha, sister, you cannot appear in your nightgown like this, not with Thackery near!", and Tabitha glowered at him, "Hast you heard Thackery? Emily is in great trouble, and I must help somehow!".
Thackery panted, "Look, it's Emily!", and Tabitha saw Emily in the distance, giggling as she went into the woods with a glimpse of a caped person luring her in, and Elijah panted as he stopped, "Now, she's done for.".
Thackery snarled lowly, "Not yet! You wake my father. Summon the elders, go!", wrestling Elijah's shirt with a hasty gesture, and Elijah nodded swiftly, ran off as Thackery ran on, calling out to Emily, and Tabitha followed him. She gasped in concern as Thackery lost balance upon a hill, "Thackery!", gingerly and carefully joining him, "Are thou alright?".
Thackery nodded, "Yes, I am alright, Tabitha. No need to be concerned.", and Tabitha sighed in relief, "Come, Thackery, we mustn't be late! I fear for thy sister Emily's life.". He nodded hastily, "Yes, thou are right. But why are thou coming with me? It's too much dangerous.".
Tabitha shook her head, "Nay, I cannot stand by when I could help you, Thackery Binx. And if things come to a danger, I will find a way to get thy father and the elders faster to the Sanderson house.", and Thackery chuckled softly, "Thank thee, Tabitha. Let's hurry.", hearing the faint haunting lullaby as they sprinted on to the Sanderson House, ducking quickly under a window after Thackery peered though it, whispering in terror.
Tabitha grabbed his hand quickly, and they went to hide behind the waterwheel as they heard Witch Winifred open the window, and complain angrily before shouting for her sisters who was lingering around the front steps of the house, and Thackery gestured quietly to the waterwheel, stepping and climbing into it with Tabitha following him through a open window, into a loft.
It was clearly felt that time is fleeting fast to the couple as they barely remembered shouting 'No' when Emily was close to drinking the nasty potion the witches have conjured up, fighting over the cauldron, trying to save Emily, and then time slowed down when they got cornered into a wall, with the Sanderson Sisters caging them in.
They would never forget the sinking feeling that they have failed Emily, or the helpless feeling that they are to be subjected to the hags' sorcery, but they never expected that Winifred's disgusting, dangerous spell-book would have amounted in aiding the spell words which they would always remember by heart.
Twist the bones and bend the back. Itch-it-a-cop-it-a, Mel-a-ka-mys-tic-a. Trim them of their baby fat. Itch-it-a-cop-it-a, Mel-a-ka-mys-tic-a. Give them fur, black as black. - Just... - Like... - This.
And so, Thackery Binx and Tabitha Tay became accursed cats, immortal, never to die, forever living with their guilt, with golden yellow eyes and sky blue eyes watching the flow of time, with their beloved families presuming them to be dead. The legend of the Sanderson Sisters rings through the decades and centuries, and with a full moon on New Hallows' Eve which only happens every 18 or 19 years, black-furred guardians sprout out of their home, and stand guard over the old Sanderson House.
