The Dragons weren't of this realm.
Magic didn't exist here. But magic was the very lifeblood of dragons, and so they brought it with them.
They were two ancient beasts with scales so vibrant and hearts so dark.
They were said to have been soulmates once. Soulmates of another realm. Yet when evil befell them and they were thrust into the mortal realm, chaos erupted.
The balance was broken.
Wars were waged.
Dragon pitted against Dragon.
Mortals stuck in the midst of it all.
The Duel of the Dragons lasted over a century. The two powerful beasts fighting until there was one.
There was no victor.
Two withering bodies fell to the floor of the Earth with a thundering boom, their blood running from their bodies as though it were water, their breaths strained, their hearts slowing.
Even the immortal died.
The Duel of Dragons had come to an end.
If the beasts died their magic would die with them, their duel unfinished and the balance still lost like ashes to the wind. It was in their last breaths that the dragons infused a mortal line with their blood, and so that perhaps, they may live on through their heirs. And perhaps then there would be a victor. Only one of two lines standing.
While the red liquid gushed past their skin and scales, it was as if their blood was the finest of inks. It wrote out their legacy on the clay of the Earth, forming the finest of jewels and stone tablets lush with their secrets.
A ring and some earrings.
Of the mortal lines, only one would be blessed with the spirit of the Dragon. Despite their many ancestors fighting that war, it was only them who would be truly connected to the Dragon.
The Dragon Summoner.
Only when the Dragon summoners showed themselves, could this war be won. Only the Dragon Summoners were able to right the world and the balance of the realms.
Two Dragon Summoners, only one worthy of winning.
One.

A/N:
Time for a new story! I don't plan on this story being too long since I'm testing out fantasy writing and world building. However, it still should be a fun ride and I hope you'll join me on it!
The concept of this story was inspired by the Webtoon called SubZero. The writing was inspired by the YA book duology called Eon: Drangoneye Reborn.
