DISCLAIMER: I, SADLY, DO NOT OWN ZOOTOPIA.
Chapter 1:
Nick woke up. That was oopsie number one.
It had been about five months into his partnership with Judy Hopps at the ZPD. Naturally, he and Judy had become the stars of the ZPD, with their similar abilities to charm their way into the field and to use quick thinking in any situation. All in all, Nick was pretty happy about his life. He was now an actual cop, and it didn't hurt that Judy Hopps was his best friend.
Not in the least bit.
Glancing at the slightly cracked mirror at the end of his bed, he fixed his collar and attached his badge to his chest before picking up his phone to find a text message from none other than his partner.
Can you hurry? We're late!
Nick smirked.
Aww I didn't know bunnies were so impatient.
He ran down the stairs to the lobby, where Judy was waiting, arms crossed and foot thumping against the floor. She glanced up from her phone, evidently having just read Nick's text message, and scoffed.
"Correction: foxes are just extremely lazy" Judy scowled as she rolled her eyes.
"Well now, we live in the same building so I don't see the problem. If we speed to the donut shop-"
Judy, used to Nick's daily excuses, reached forward to grab Nick by his tie, and dragged him to the car. Of course, Nick laughed, outwardly acting like he didn't care, but secretly loving the attention.
"Ya know Carrots, my tie can only take so much."
"Oh shut up" Judy said as she broke from her serious demeanor and doubled over laughing.
Yeah, Nick's day was going pretty great.
Judy and Nick strolled into the ZPD and found Clawhauser sleeping in front of his computer.
"Uh oh, I guess Clawhauser didn't get donuts either" Nick smugly drawled.
"Forget Clawhauser. Where's everyone?" Judy turned as she walked, realizing that for the first time in her police career, the front lobby was completely silent and empty.
Nick seemed to realize the oddness of the silence as well, and the two made eye contact, both wondering what was happening. Nick glanced at his watch. 7:32
"Um Carrots?" Judy glanced over. "Of course we're late! Come on, let's hope no one notices."
Then they jumped, startled as the silence broke into distant cheering, which seemed to be coming from the roll call auditorium. "We're late to roll call!"
Nick rolled his eyes. "I guess nothing unusual about today after all" he thought as Judy yanked at his tie.
That was oopsie number two.
Judy took initiative and burst into the auditorium.
"We are so SO sorry Chief Bo-" Judy trailed off. Nick, having trained his eyes on Judy, now shifted his gaze to the direction of Judy's ears. There was Bogo, barely even acknowledging their tardiness, shaking hands with another rabbit who wore a black suit. Bogo looked up, actually smiling at Judy and Nick for once. "Hopps! Wilde! In my office. We have a guest. The rest of you, your usual assignments. Dismissed!"
As the rest of the officers finished saluting the newcomer, the rabbit turned to meet Judy and Nick, revealing the black stripes on his face, which contrasted with his snowy white complexion, and his badge. ZPI Agency: Agent Savage.
"The name's Jack Savage. It's a pleasure to meet you two."
