7 months after Season 8 Episode 22.

After Sex

Jessica Adams smiles as she gleefully unwraps herself from her covers. She reaches out for the man in her bed but he is already gone.

His name tag is still on her night stand.

The doctor pinches herself to make sure that she isn't dreaming. After singing her way through the shower, Adams puts on her clothes, inserts his name tag in her pocket and leaves for work.

"Hey Adams." Chase smiles briefly before looking back down at his paperwork.

"Hey." She flashes him a sheepish, gleeful grin but he doesn't seem to notice.

That's fine. Play it cool, she tells him silently.

"Park, Adams, run the tests for this patient." He tosses them the files.

"So, why are you so happy today?" Park inquires.

"I am always happy." Adams replies before giggling.

"Are you gonna tell me?" Park raises her eyebrows because Adams is unusually cheery.

"Well…" Adams bites her lip as a hot blush consumes her body. "I had sexx."

"Figures." Park says. "Who was he?"

"Take a wild guess." She smiles coyly.

"Chase." Park guesses.

"Yes!" Adams beams.

"What! Really!" Park exclaims. "How?"

"It just happened!" Adams answers. "Rather sudden. Great night."

"So, you slept with Adams." Park barges into the door.

"What?" Chase replies confused.

"She told me!" Park says.

"I never...she told you that I did?" Chase is flabbergasted.

What She Remembers

"You still working?" Adams walks over to Chase.

"Yeah." He doesn't look up. "Rowan is spending time with my sister Lena today. She got into town yesterday."

Adams clenches her fist. "You can toggle that little bastard all you want."

"Hey!" Chase gets up. "Don't talk about my son that way!"

"I am so sorry Chase." Adams breaks into tears. "I've been spiraling out of control for the last few weeks. I need help. I need...you."

"Hey!" He takes her hand and helps her up. "It's okay."

Chase lifts up her chin so that she has to face him. Adams sees the sea of compassion in his bright blue eyes and she takes the opportunity to seize his face and jam her tongue into his mouth.

They suck their way into her apartment and she tastes every bit of him as they undress on her bed.

The rest of the night was a blur.

What Happened...

"Adams!" Chase calls her in.

"Hey. You finally want to talk about last night?" Adams smirks.

"What about last night?" Chase exclaims. "Why did you tell Park that you slept with me? What has gotten into you?"

"Relax. So what?" Adams doesn't see the big deal.

"Wait, Adams...are you...okay?" Chase notices a gray hue engulf her brown eyes and she looks unfocused. "Snap out of it!" He grabs her shoulders.

She kisses him, this time with more force. Adams sucks the life out of Chase's lips and blocks off his throat with her tongue.

"Woah!" He pulls back. "You are not in your right mind."

"You didn't seem to mind this last night!" Adams is indignant.

"Look, last night, you came in and…" Chase details the story.

Adams storms out, leaving him there, alone.

"What?! No! You left your name tag on my nightstand!" Adams reaches into her pocket but all she can find is her lipstick.

"Adams, my name tag is right here!" Chase motions to his chest. "You need help."

The Mental Hospital

It's a miserable process, trying to adjust to that morbid new lifestyle. The orderlies, the schedule, the seclusion, absolutely disgusting.

For days, she stays couped up in her room, refusing to come out. Eventually, the orderlies coax her out with the promise of good food. Instead, they medicate her.

On her ninth day, she starts paying attention to some of the other patients. Most of them don't talk and the ones that do say interesting things.

One man thinks that he is a ghost and two women think that they are Santa Claus and Spiro Agnew. All crazies.

Then one day, Adams sees a familiar face, a woman from House's funeral. She sees her too.

Their eyes lock and the other woman motions for her to come over.

"Jessica Adams." She extends her hand.

"Allison Cameron." She accepts the hand.

They turn sideways and see that the doctor is watching them. She's smiling but she was a wary look on her face, as if she is sure that they are cooking up trouble.

Fifteen

"No visitors yet." Dr. Beasley, from Season 6 Episode 1 and Episode 2, dismisses Dr. Chase.

"But…" He begins to protest but she cuts him off with a grim smile.

Chase is barely down the hall when he sees someone sitting at his door.

"Thirteen!" Chase calls out. .

"Hello Chase." Thirteen gets up and walks over to him. "I...just…" She takes his hand into hers and squeezes it.

Chase feels a warm tingle rupture through his body.

Thirteen's intense emerald eyes pierce into Chase's soul and his pants feel too tight.

"Will you have sexx with me?" Thirteen does not wait for a response.

"Wow! That was...sudden. How have you been?" Chase struggles to catch his breath.

"So so. Broke up with the last few girlfriends. I have been struggling since the funeral." Thirteen says.

"Yeah. House was special to all of us." Chase laments.

"Which is why I am here." Thirteen reveals.

"Thinking about House convinced you to have sexx with me?" Chase is bewildered.

"No, to be honest, I had wanted to do it for a long time. I wanted to see how good you were." Thirteen admits.

"And…" He chuckles.

"A-" She teases.

"Hey!" Chase acts indignant but he sees the smile fade off of her face.

"I...House promised to kill me when the time came but now…" Thirteen trails off. "Chase, you are the closest friend that I have. We have shared everything together. I trusted you with everything when I told you about my brother. Look, we…"

"Thirteen…" Chase interrupts her. "I really do appreciate it and I am always here but House is alive."

"What?" Thirteen blinks.

"Foreman told me. House left his name tag on the office floor. That phone call that Wilson received at the funeral, it was from House." Chase tells her.

"Wow!" Thirteen starts laughing. "That is…"

"Yeah. Foreman told me that House is back at his mom's house now." Chase chuckles. "Wait, you didn't just sleep with me because you wanted to ask for the favor?"

"No." Thirteen laughs. "I really wanted to try it and so I figured that we could do it before I asked." She leans into his chest.

"Smart move." Chase laughs. "Just so you know, this is a…"

"Definitely a one time thing." Thirteen finishes his sentence for him. "We are friends."

Chase nods. "So, what's new with you?"

"Nothing much." Thirteen catches Chase's suspicious gaze and she preemptively shuts him up with a kiss.

"And you?" She lets him go after a while.

"Well, in Season 8 Episode 12, I had a relationship with a patient, who was a nun. Yep." Chase nods at Thirteen's stunned expression.

"She went back to the seminary but a month after House's funeral, she came back, pregnant."

Thirteen's jaw drops. "So…"

"Moira...she…" Chase grimaces in pain at the memories.

"Hello Robert." She steps in cautiously, her eyes brimming with tears.

"Moira!" He stops when he sees her full body.

"Yeah." Moira says. "Surprise."

"Wow...!" Robert stumbles backwards. "So…"

"I am so sorry for ambushing you like this and I just…" Moira is cut off when Robert swoops in and captures her lips with his.

She melts into his kiss and reexplores the insides of his throat with her tongue. Just as tasty as she remembers. Now, they finally can be...

"Ah!" Moira clutches her belly in pain.

"Moira!" Robert catches her before she falls.

"I'm sorry." Foreman walks out of the room.

Robert Chase buries his face into his hands.

Foreman heaves a sigh of relief because there will be no investigation. As far as the Abbey is concerned, Moira was not a nun and as far as the hospital was concerned, Moira, or "June," was only a one time patient.

"Your son made it." Foreman puts his hand on Chase's shoulder.

"My...son." The idea does not sound real to Chase.

"Yes. Come on! He will be ready to go home in a while." Foreman leads him into the room.

Back in the present, Chase and Thirteen are getting busy again.

Between sobbing and moning, they have a little more fun.

Basketball

"Are you going to play?" Adams asks Cameron.

"Not feeling it." Cameron stays curled up on the bench.

Adams nods in understanding and she squeezes Cameron's hand.

Cameron smoothes her hand over Adams's sweater. "You know that House spent some time in this exact facility." She changes the subject.

"Wow." Adams snorts. "Figures."

Suddenly, they start laughing. Conversation triggers enjoyment.

"Wanna play?" Adams shoots the basketball and it falls straight into the hoop.

Cameron catches it and grins. "You're on."

Rowan

"Nice to meet you." Thirteen shakes hands with Lena Chase and pinches Rowan's cheek.

"You as well." Lena replies to Thirteen as she hands Rowan to Robert.

The baby laughs, grabs Thirteen's hand and stuffs it into his mouth.

Thirteen smiles into Rowan's bright blue eyes, which are so full of life. Something tingles inside of her and her smile fades quickly.

"Thirteen!" Chase runs after her as she runs out of the room.

Lena picks up Rowan and gives him his bottled milk. He laughs and coughs through it.

Thirteen slams herself into the furthest corner and sobs her eyes out.

"Hey." Chase puts his hand on her shoulder.

"Ss...sorry Chase. I just…" Thirteen continues crying.

Chase squeezes her shoulder. "Hey, Remy."

Thirteen looks up in surprise. He has never called her by her first name.

"I know that you have been through too much but you are not alone. I am here for you." Chase squeezes tighter.

"When I looked into Rowan's eyes, it just...reminded me of Brandyn." Thirteen sobs.

"Hey. Your brother was in a lot of pain and you saved him." Chase reminds her.

Thirteen stares up into Chase's blue eyes and a hungry desire overtakes her body once again.

She jumps and lunges.

The bedroom door shuts behind them.

Allison

"I'm happy that I knew you Darren." Allison Cameron kisses her third husband on the forehead and nods to the doctor.

The doctor pulls the plug.

Cameron leaves the room without shedding a tear. This was not her first marriage to end prematurely. This was not her first husband to die. She's been through this before and the experience hardened her, damaged her, ruined her.

The truth is that Cameron could have never loved Darren if he had not been dying. He was her ER patient that one day, when he came in from a failed suicide attempt.

They bonded and he told her that he only had about a year to live and he was alone. That was why he tried to do it. She took pity on him and they got close, too close.

Though Cameron had gotten used to being alone, she was still lonely and she missed Robert Chase, the perfect man that she pushed away.

She loved him but like everything she touched, she destroyed him.

Now, Darren was there to fill the void, but only briefly.

Allison Cameron proposed to Darren Cdervis and they tied the knot in a courthouse. No ceremony. Her family disapproved of her disastrous decision and he had no family.

Things were stable until she got pregnant and then her life changed, for the better.

She loved Timothy more than anything in the world for he was her own flesh and blood. Darren was overjoyed with his kid. The three of them were a family.

Four months after this beautiful occurrence, Cameron got word that House had died.

The funeral was complicated. Cameron felt nothing for House anymore but she was sad to lose a former…"friend?"

Being with Robert was the hardest thing ever. They hadn't talked since...that Season 6 Episode 17, where she poured out her feelings and admitted the quiet truths. And he had signed the divorce papers and that was it.

Well, there was the dance and the sexx but it was all futile nostalgia in the end.

"I should go." Allison didn't want to go but Robert didn't stop her. In fact, he even agreed.

At the funeral, Robert was distant. He sat next to her, or she sat next to him? But he didn't say a word to her and after the funeral, he left pretty quickly.

She'd wanted to chase after him, grab him, kiss him, have...she doesn't even know what. She did none of these things.

It would have been wrong to toy with his feelings like that. And for all she knew, he might be in a relationship. He might even be remarried and have children.

They would be cheating on their respective families.

And Darren had only a month and a half left at most.

Allison's finger hovers over Robert's contact information but before she can make the call, she receives a call from the daycare center.

"Hello." She answers.

"Ms. Cameron, I am so sorry...there was a gunwoman and…"

That is when Allison Cameron's world started to fall apart.

Jessica

Jessica Adams slowly approaches Robert Chase, who is sobbing in the corner. His newborn son is resting in the incubator.

Stop Jessica. You have been here before. He doesn't like you and he'll only break your heart.

No, it is not about me. It is about helping a boss, a friend, a man who once saved my life, Jessica argues but her heart still flutters, releasing a whirlpool of heat across her body and rosying up her cheeks.

"Ring!"

She takes the phone call and the color drains from her face.

"I will be here if you need me." Aunt Agatha hands the ash jar to her niece, Jessica Adams, on the arm. "Your mother and your father loved you and they were always proud of you."

Adams takes some time off of work for the next few weeks. Her days are either eventless or dark. Some days are full of eating ice cream and doing nothing, other days, hallucinating about her dead parents among other things.

Then her charity burns down.

She returns to work after assuming that her hallucinations have passed by but she is quickly proven wrong…

Back to Work

Gabe, the patient from Season 1 Episode 13, walks back into PPTH.

It feels great to be back as an intern and not as a patient.

The hospital has changed since the last time he was here as a patient. That was before his parents got back together, before they moved to California, and then New Hampshire, then South Dakota, then Florida.

"Dean Foreman." Gabe recognizes Dr. Foreman from before.

"Yes?" Foreman looks up.

"I am the new intern." Gabe explains.

"Oh yes. Please come in. Pleased to meet you." Foreman shakes his hand.

"Actually, I was the patient in Season 1 Episode 13." Gabe reminds him.

"Yes! I remember! Great to see you." Foreman claps his hands. "Uh…"

"My father hasn't been a donor here for a while. We moved around several states over the past few years." Gabe says. "Glad to be back in New Jersey."

"Dr. Chase will be thrilled to see you." Foreman motions for Gabe to follow.

Chase limps across his office and into the Department. Sexx with Thirteen is extremely fun but boy does it really hurt. He's seeing her again tonight…

"Chase." It's Foreman.

Chase's face heats up. Foreman can't know that he is sleeping with Thirteen.

"Are you okay?" Foreman notices. "You are limping."

"Yeah. I just…" Chase tries to come up with a lie.

"Physical therapy." Foreman winks. "Anyway, this is your new intern."

"Gabe!" Chase shakes his hand. "Great to have you here as an intern!"

"Wonderful to see you as well!" Gabe smiles.

"Park, this is Gabe, the new intern." Chase motions.

"Hi, Dr. Park!" She shakes his hand. "We still need one more to replace Taub."

"Yes." Chase hopes that Taub is doing well in Maryland with Rachel, Ruby, Sophie and Sophia.

"Any idea when Adams will be back?" Park wonders.

"No idea. They wouldn't let me see her." Chase says.

"I hope she comes back soon." Park whispers.

"Yeah." Chase's cheeks heat up and he quickly changes the subject. "Let's get to work."

Mental Adventures

Therapy group is boring.

"I was in Maryland and I just fell in love with that railroad. I had to take the bribe." Spiro Agnew moans.

"Good." Dr. Beasley rolls her eyes subtly. "Next."

"I was delivering presents and then Rudolph attacked me. He tried to kill me. I barely survived!" Santa Claus cries.

"Oh come on!" Adams loses it and Cameron smirks.

"Jessica, we don't do that." Dr. Beasley chides her.

"Easy for you to say, Plastic Face!" Adams retorts.

"Now now." Beasley's smile begins to fade. "Respect one another."

"Shut it!" Cameron snaps. "I am sick and tired of you acting all high and mighty. I cannot stand you."

Beasley dismisses the others and then turns her attention to Cameron and Adams.

"I am familiar with this attitude. You two are friends of Dr. House, aren't you?" Beasley deduces.

"Yep." Adams answers.

"What are you going to do about it?" Cameron pokes her.

Beasley's fake smile returns, wider than before.

Fifteen or Sixteen or Fourteen

"Welcome home!" Thirteen lays out some plates.

"Yum!" Chase breathes in the chocolate cake.

"I like having dessert first. How was the hospital today?" Thirteen asks.

Chase sets the sleeping Rowan inside his crib.

"Aww." Thirteen kisses Rowan's forehead and he smiles faintly.

"He seems to like you." Chase chuckles.

"I like him. Cute. Reminds me of someone else I know." Thirteen winks. "What? She notices Chase's smile fade.

"Got a new intern. He was a patient from Season 1, actually." Chase states.

"Wow. Long way." Thirteen licks the chocolate layers.

"Yeah. Foreman brought him in and…" Chase pauses. "I couldn't face Foreman."

"Oh come on!" Thirteen laughs. "He and I haven't dated in nearly three years."

"I know. I was just scared." Chase stammers.

"This isn't about Foreman." Thirteen deduces.

"Exactly." Chase says. "It is about...us."

Thirteen looks down and Chase sees the tears form in her emerald eyes.

"Sorry. I…" Chase apologizes.

She shuts him up with a kiss and Chase tastes the chocolate in her mouth.

"No Chase." Thirteen wipes her tears. "You do not need to apologize. The truth is..."

Chase looks at her expectantly.

Thirteen twiddles the fork in her hand as she tries to come up with words to explain how she feels.

She begins. "The truth is...I...did find you to be pretty hot when I first saw you but you were with Cameron. And when you got divorced...well...you clearly needed time. The truth is that I enjoyed working closely with you on the cases. All those break ins we did together, the labs, everything else. I loved being your friend. Then of course, I had to leave and that is when you asked for sexx."

Chase laughs. "If I had known this, I would have asked sooner. Maybe I would have dumped Cameron and hooked up with you."

Thirteen shakes her head in amusement. "Well, I was short on time and I didn't want to lead you on. Course, I was sure that you weren't really into me…"

"I sort of was into you. That is why I played the long game. Otherwise, I would have asked you immediately." Chase squeezes her arm.

Thirteen's face burns with pleasure. "Anyway, when I returned, you were this sexx machine woman magnet and I had just killed my brother. You and House were the only ones that I opened up to. Course, I was never attracted to House but you...you really saved my as in Season 7 Episode 22."

"And now your as is mine." Chase fails to resist the urge to make a joke.

"Hahaaha!" Thirteen steps closer to Chase and his pants tighten.

Her hands trail over his chest and she pulls at his shirt.

He smoothes his hands over her arms.

"When House drove his car into Cuddy's house, things got crazy. Foreman took over and the Department got dissolved. I left pretty quickly and then you went surfing." Thirteen recalls.

"Yeah. I wanted to spend more time with you, to be there for you but you left." Chase says.

"And then House's fake funeral. I didn't get to talk to you then. Wilson's dramatic thing was quite the show. Funny that it was all fake." Thirteen snickers. "Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I really missed you and I want to spend more time with you and him." She points to Rowan.

Chase brushes her hair out of her face and kisses her gently on the cheek.

It escalates and the bedroom door slams shut.

Time Out

Adams sighs as she stares into the dark ceiling. This is super boring and pointless. She hasn't had any hallucinations, ever since she got here. She wants to leave but that Beasley woman will never let her.

"You take the pills?" Adams asks Cameron.

"Yep and I took yours too." Cameron laughs.

"What?" Adams exclaims. "You sure that was safe?"

Cameron's laugh gets louder and Adams gets up.

"Allison, I think you should…"

Cameron knocks her aside.

"Hey!" Adams yells but Cameron stares at her blankly, without recognition.

"Allison! Snap out of it!"

But Cameron begins swinging around. "I need to leave! I have to go!"

She pushes Adams aside and begins slamming on the tiny window until it breaks.

"Freedom!"

Her heels fall on the room floor as her body goes through the window.

Moving In On Tuesday

"Where is your stuff?" Chase frees himself from Thirteen's tight arms.

"At my apartment." Thirteen strokes his abbs. "Why?"

"I mean, if we are going to be doing this thing, then it would be easier on you to have your stuff here." Chase suggests.

"You saying that I should move in?" Thirteen translates.

"Yeah." Chase answers.

She responds with another kiss and even more thrashing.

"It's Tuesday. I like you…" Those were her last words.

Jessica Adams can't sleep well for the next three days and she hallucinates again.

"Oh my gosh! Chase!" Adams rips open his shirt.

She ignores the sight and feel of his muscular torso as she plunges her finger into his body and tries to keep him alive.

It's no use. The blood keeps on coming and he dies.

"You okay?" A man grabs her.

Adams shakes out of it. "Am I hallucinating?"

"No. I am really here." The man reassures her. "Alvin Cameron, I came to pick up my sister's ashes."

"I am so sorry. She was my only friend here." Adams looks up at his face, which is unspeakably handsome, with clear teary blue eyes, a solid jawline and rippling figure. She squeezes his biceps.

"Thanks." Alvin leans in closer. "I can't be alone right now. Please stay with me."

They lock the bedroom door.

Out of the Home

"Do you...want to get a drink?" Adams asks him.

"Yeah." He takes her hand and escorts her out the doors.

Chase turns over in his bed and unwraps himself from Thirteen's warmth. He takes her head off of his bare chest and he rubs his eyes.

He gets up, moves towards the windows and gazes out at the dark stars.

If he'd taken up Adams on her offer, they might be together right now. Moira would have still returned and died but Adams might have stayed around. He could have helped her through her hard times and then maybe she wouldn't have hallucinated. And they would actually be sleeping together.

The truth is that Chase always had a soft crush on Adams. She was beautiful, complex and human. There was something special to her and he enjoyed every minute of their interactions.

Despite the fact that they flirted non stop, he was pretty sure that she wasn't attracted to him and so he tried to see her as just a friend. It worked until he got stabbed, while saving her life. Then he went dark and met Moira. Afterwards, he and Adams were just colleagues and then their flirty moments heated up again, thanks to House.

When she asked him out, he was stunned, flattered even but he didn't want to get in too deep with her. That would only lead to heartbreak for both of them and he valued her as a friend.

Unfortunately, they were never the same after that. They discussed, worked on cases together and nothing more. Before he left, they had a yelling match about the rules and he didn't say goodbye to her.

When he returned, he was her boss and whatever feelings she had towards him seemed to have dissipated. He never tried to explore further.

And then she hallucinated about sleeping with him. Was it simply a bad hallucination or did she actually want to do it? He had assumed that it was her emotions coping with her sense of loss from losing her parents. Probably it.

When Adams is out, things will be back to normal.

Now, he has Thirteen.

"Well, congratulations!" Beasley cuts the cake. "Jessica, you are free to go."

Jessica Adams strides through the streets of Chicago, Illinois and makes her way up the corner apartment complex.

A little boy answers the door.

"Yes?" He asks.

"Sorry, must have the wrong address." Adams apologizes.

"Hello." A young woman walks up behind the girl. "Are you looking for someone?"

"Do you know where...?" Adams begins to ask.

"Hey, what is…" Alvin Cameron comes to the door. "Jessica…" He stutters.

Jessica Adams clenches her fist and the bright color drains from her face.

The woman looks from Adams to Alvin and her eyes narrow as she makes the connection.

"You know her...wait…" The woman starts shaking.

Adams storms out.

How could she? How could she have slept with a married man after what happened to her and her ex husband. The number of times he had cheated on her nearly destroyed her. And now she...Unbelievable!

Back

"I quit!" Adams throws her resignation down on Foreman's desk and exits the office.

He stares at her, exasperated.

Adams opens her apartment door to find a well dressed, clean shaven, gorgeous looking man standing on her porch.

"Chase!" She blushes.

"Hi Adams. Are you feeling better?" He reaches for her arm.

"Yeah." She shivers as his fingers make contact with her skin. A sharp heat ruptures through her entire body. "Come in." She pulls him inside.

"Wow." Chase admires the pristine, elegant artwork littered across her rooms.

"Are you here to beg me to come back?" She asks him.

"Sort of." He admits. "But I don't want to force you to do anything. If you return, you do not have to. I just want to make sure that it has nothing to do with me, as self centered as that sounds."

Adams flashes him her signature smile and his heart flutters a little. "No, you are not self centered. I hallucinated about sleeping with you and I ended up in an institution. You have every right to think so." Her cheeks are burning.

"Adams, if you want to leave, that is up to you but I am here for you. You are always welcome to return to PPTH." Chase squeezes her hand.

After he leaves, Adams collapses on the floor.

Her feelings are complicated.

She has to admit that it was great seeing Chase again but why?

Does she like him after all? Does he like her or is he just being a kind boss? Should she return to PPTH regardless?

Park and Adams

"Adams!" Park rushes up to hug her.

"Hey!" Adams smiles.

"Gabe." Gabe introduces himself.

"Nice to meet you." Adams greets him.

"Great to have you back." Chase walks in.

Park raises her eyebrows when she notices Adams's face transition into a shade of crimson.

"I really missed you." Park says.

"You too." Adams agrees.

"So, you actually like Chase." Park gets to the point.

Adams doesn't even try to deny it.

"I knew it." Park laughs. "You gonna do anything about it?"

Adams bites her lips. "I went through a lot at that institution. Made a friend. Lost a friend. Got a crush on someone but that blew up. I'm not ready to act another crush."

"Glad to have you back. I am here for you." Park assures Adams. "But you might want to act quickly. Chase is a woman magnet and he won't be single for long."

Ball

"Well, some of the new donors want to organize a ball tonight." Foreman is annoyed that they arranged this so abruptly but since PPTH depends on these donors, they have to do as they say. "See you then."

There are a few disco lights, flashing signs and fluttered tapestries in the ballroom. For such a rich, festive occasion, the environment is fairly banal.

"Hey."

When Chase turns around and sees her, his heart stops. She looks gorgeous, with her brown hair waving in loose strands across her body, which is perfectly curved and fit into her stunning crimson dress.

"Adams!" He stutters.

"Want to dance?" She offers.

Without waiting for a response, she loops her arms around his neck and they sway in the dark.

"Remember the first time that we met and House told us that we would make a cute couple?" Adams blows into his ear.

Chase's pants tighten and he feels a chill travel through his spine. "Yeah I do."

"Remember how you thought about having sexx with me shortly after we first met?" Adams reminds him.

"Uh, yeah." Chase answers uncomfortably.

"We've always had a thing for each other." Adams whispers. "We flirted nonstop and you saved my life. I know that you rejected me in Season 8 Episode 17 but I haven't stopped thinking about you. While you were gone in Season 8 Episode 21, I couldn't stop thinking about you."

Chase blushes as he struggles to breathe. Her grip is rather tight but he cannot complain.

Adams leans in closer and flicks her tongue against his ear. He immediately pulls back.

By the time she processes what she has done, he's already gone.

Fourthirtefifteen

He answers the door.

"Adams." Chase stammers.

"Hey Chase." Adams manages a weak smile. "I just wanted to...do you need some help with Rowan? I can watch over him for a while until…"

She peers in through the doorway and sees…

"Hi." Thirteen waves at Adams. "We met in Season 8 Episode 3 and we saw each other at House's funeral."

"Yes." Adams looks at Thirteen and then at Chase and a grotesque horror crosses over her face as she makes the realization.

Chase begins to explain. "Adams, Thirteen and I, we are…"

"I get it." Adams contorts her face to hide the look of pain on her face. "I have to go."

"No wait!" Chase tries to stop her but she runs off.

Thirteen narrows her eyes at Adams and then at Chase. She begins to make the connection.

Twelve

"Thanks Lena." Chase hands Rowan over to his sister.

He heads back into the bedroom, only to find Thirteen packing.

"What are you?" He asks.

"I'm leaving." Thirteen answers.

"Why?" Chase demands to know. "Did I…"

"It's nothing that you did, nothing that I did either." Thirteen wipes away a tear. "The truth is Chase, if we were meant to be with each other, if we were really in love, we would have been with each other, not with Foreman or Cameron."

"Come on! That is history!" Chase protests.

"Chase, you are a great friend and I never would have been able to get through my brother's death if it hadn't been for you. I enjoyed every minute that we spent together in Season 6 and Season 7 but I can't hold you back. I won't be around forever and you deserve to be happy." Thirteen strokes his hair one last time.

"I am…" Chase starts but he cannot finish the lie.

"And you are in love with that Adams girl. I could tell by the way that you looked at her. You wanted to go after her. You should." Thirteen urges him.

Chase's mouth hangs open. Yes, that is true. He does want to go after Adams, make sure that she is okay and hold her in his arms. These feelings are not coming from nowhere. They were just hiding.

"Goodbye Chase." Thirteen kisses Chase without tongue and then she leaves.

Vicodin

Adams's hand trembles as she shakes the Vicodin pills onto her hand. Slowly but surely, she brings them to her mouth. Parents dead, friend gone, crush taken, life miserable. Hopefully, this will ease the pain.

How many did House take at a time? Four? Six?

She cannot remember.

Before she can pop them in…

"Stop!" He yells but when he sees what she is taking, he laughs. "Come on! You can't turn into House!"

"Great, another hallucination." Adams sighs as she tosses the pills and gets up.

"Not a hallucination." Chase smiles as he steps closer.

"How do I know that?" She challenges.

Chase strokes his hand across her face and sends a shiver up her body. Her white skin burns red as her heart does a tap dance.

"What about…? Adams starts to ask.

"I sent her away." Chase answers before he swoops in for the kill.

She melts into his kiss and loops her arms around his neck, this time much tighter. Her tongue plunges into his throat as she explores every part of his mouth. He puts his arms around her waist and lifts her up off the ground. The night has only begun.
