A/N: This is a crosspost from AO3 with the same title name, my User Name is: CoffeeCat420
though I'm planning on changing my user name there.
Why am I doing this? I find the A03 posting to be difficult to do. Though I'm not going to stop posting there, I want to get the hang of it.
For the new readers this is a DARK fanfic with dark elements -
Chapter two is already up in A03, however there is grammer mistakes and it's bugging me to no end! But I will leave it alone for now, and fix it at a much later date.
I will also go back and fix some things in chapter two that is saved in my doc. before I post the second one here.
Anyways, happy reading! Thank you for taking the time to read this, hope you have a wonderful day!
Prologue
It was in the middle of a cold day, overhead gloomy clouds were rolling in, indicating that soon it would pour on those who were still out and about. The chilled air didn't help to toast those without jackets and short-sleeved shirts. It had been forty minutes since the school bell had chimed, singling that classes were over for that day. Out in the parking lot, only two souls were left.
"Just like that, You're breaking up with me?" Sakura Haruno asked her gaze downcast, filled with tears as her heart broke into million pieces, seeping from the hems of her pants legs and out of the tip of the soul of her shoes. Sasuke Uchiha kneaded the back of his neck, his head tilted towards the cloudy sky that was getting darker and darker with each passing second. He didn't want this just as much as Sakura, but with how their relationship was looking there was no other choice. He didn't have anything to say, not that he cared all too much to explain his reasoning.
If she knew the truth, the fully extended truth of his actions - well, he didn't know exactly what his now ex would have done and or said. Sure, he can pin most of the fault on the arguments they've shared, or come up with an outrageous story he can think upright on the spot. In all honesty, though, sometimes leaving out the extended truth is better than nothing. Shame filled his heart and over poured into his soul. He knew that Sakura didn't deserve this, or at least what he had done only a month ago when their relationship was starting to crumble. He knew she deserved the truth, and he owed it to her. Though, however, with the guilt eating away at his very existence, Sasuke Uchiha couldn't bring himself to tell Sakura the unforgivable deed he had done.
Sakura Haruno was good to him, she gave her heart and soul with her arms wide open for him to take, without any regard for herself. And, he took it with no questions asked, consumed it like a greedy monster. He never gave her his own heart, he didn't spare his soul just like she had done. Sasuke, felt like he was the worst kind of freak that ever did exist. He recalled that very night when he and Naruto were discussing life, and video games, what normal boys talked about. Karin, Narutos cousin was staying over for a few weeks, and he and she had just clicked.
Sasuke knew what he was doing the moment the blond had stepped out of the room to help his mother to set the table for dinner. He knew what his hands were doing when he leaned into the girl with the red hair with firey deep eyes that burned him when he looked at her, running his fingers through her silky soft locks. He knew exactly what he was doing to Sakura the moment they shared a tender heartfelt kiss. He didn't know he had this kind of emotion before, he thought that he did with Sakura at least, but with Kairn? It felt surreal and right at the same time. That kiss they had both shared had open up pandora's box, that he nor anyone would have ever expected, and later on, in the future, he would all but regret everything he was doing right now. Before they could go any further, Naruto was at the thresh hold of his room. Wide-eyed and in shock. That night, Naruto had kicked Sasuke out of his room, and out of his house. Telling the Uchiha that he'd better think about his actions and exactly what he was doing to both his cousin and his best friend with pink hair and eyes that were filled with hope and determination.
After two weeks passed, neither Sasuke nor Naruto had spoken to each other, their friends and including Sakura had assumed it was another fight they had, so it felt normal. Or so they had thought. Sasuke had ended up confessing to Naruto about his relationship with Sakura, and how he had felt with his cousin Karin. Naruto explained to Sasuke that, "If you keep dragging the relationship with Sakura-chan any further than it is, once she ends up finding the truth what had happened. Do you honestly think things will go back to being the same before the two of you got together? It's better to tell her the truth than to keep lying to her, because eventually, Sakura will find out. It will break her even more, tell her the truth and stop beating around the bush." Naruto cared for Sakura, so much so that he regarded her like a sister he never had, and Sakura could say the same thing about Naruto. Their bond was something that no one can break apart.
In which, Sasuke had scoffed and told the Uzumaki, "Even if I did tell her truth, and what had happened between me and Karin never had happened that night. Regardless of whatever the reason, no matter what angles you try to look at it Naruto, nothing, and I mean nothing will go back to the way it was before I and Sakura had ever dated. You and I, along with everyone knows this." Naruto could only shake his head and told him that he didn't want his two of his best friends to be fighting over him. That it was better, to tell the truth regardless, and that Sakura would eventually understand and appreciate it more than him lying to her.
Which had made the Uchiha drawn back from his memories, and replied "Yeah, just like that." There were no emotions in his voice, no hint to tell if he did care, as far as Sakura could tell. Biting her lip, Sakura shook her head as pink strands blocked her vision as a million questions ran through her head. How could this happen, why did this happen? Couldn't they just discuss what was going on in their relationship, at least try to communicate about it? They've been dating pretty much the last summer of their Jr.High School year, and the last two years in High School.
The last few months, they've fought with each other over small things that really shouldn't matter, or at least she assumed that didn't matter to them. She didn't want to feel like she was pushy about things, she wasn't sure if she was demanding too much from him, it was pretty much small silly little things that other couples had worked out, but, "Why?" Sakura sniffled out, rubbing furiously at her eyes trying to stop any tears that would spill. It burns, she mentally thought, her eyes and the heartbreak she was feeling at the moment. No answer came from the boy she loved, but only a heavy sigh.
Sasuke had kicked a few pebbles beneath his feet, he wasn't good at talking about his feelings. "Just go home Sakura," he had quipped, his voice strained and tired "Not until you tell me why!" The pink-haired girl demanded stomping her foot, "There isn't any other reason!" He shouted back, his hands now forming into fists. "I don't have to explain myself to you as to why I want to break up with you." Sasuke was looking at Sakuras broken form now, her hair was in a mess. The sleeves of her shirt were now soaked in snot and tears.
At his statement, she snapped her head upwards to get a good look at him, her eyes big and bright, around them were puffy angry red lines. His own, cold and soft at the same time, but tired. Sakura tried to form words, tried to push them out with each breath that she took from the chilled falls air. Sasuke sighed again, this time allowing his body to push forward past her, while Sakura could only stare in shock. "I don't love you like I used to." The wind whispered in her ears, soft and smooth as ever.
She didn't know exactly how long she had stood there, in the parking lot, with her thoughts swarming around her head like an angry nest of giant wasps. But somehow or someway, she ended up in her bedroom, with the curtains drawn tightly shut, her lamp casting unwanted shadows. Sakura Haruno felt numb to the world that day. Heartbreak was painful, or so she had thought when she had read novels and watched shows on the television. However, she never got a grasp of it, because she believed she never had to. Not to an extent anyway but how ugly did it felt deep within her chest that bubbled up like a poisonous acid itching away, crawling up her throat, daring her to scream her frustration away.
