Kat laughed as she held her purse over her head as she and Ray ran through the rain. She stopped as they found shelter at a bus stop, Ray shook the water from his hair and Kat couldn't help but giggle.

"What's so funny?" Ray asked, he couldn't see what was so amusing. The weather had predicted a beautiful day. It had started that way for the first half of their day until the rain came and spoiled it.

"I'm wearing a new dress and shoes. Oh god, I spent two hours on my hair. How unlucky am I?" Kat asked him in amusement as she couldn't believe her luck. She and Ray were finally on a date and all the hours she spent agonising over what to wear and how to look were literally washed away. "On our first date too." she sighed.

"Date?" Ray asked blankly.

"Well what do you call two people going out together and having fun?" Kat asked, she wondered if she misread the signs. She really hoped not, she was 17 now and no longer a kid. He was definitely flirting with her earlier.

"Friends hanging out." Ray stated.

"Oh, well I feel stupid now." Kat said, this was now incredibly awkward. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment as she must have misread the entire situation.

"Don't, I was just messing with you." Ray said, Kat's jaw dropped at his audacity.

"You're such an ass." she said as she playfully shoved him. He laughed for a moment before he grew more serious.

"You look beautiful." he told her sincerely.

"No, I don't, I'm a mess." Kat said feeling self conscious. She touched her hair that was now a frizzy mess.

"You're beautiful to me." Ray told her.

"Your bar on what's beautiful is really low." Kat grumbled.

"The rain is letting up, shall we make a run for it?" Ray asked, he held out his hand to her. Kat nodded and took his hand.
