Rountree was sitting in his car, waiting for Fatima to get inside safely. She was fumbling with her keys when he finally got his nerve. He got out of the car and walked over.

"You okay?" he asked. Fatima jumped, obviously not having heard him close the car door.

"Shit, you scared me," Fatima breathed out, leaning against the house.

"Sorry. Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just startled," she replied. Rountree nodded.

"I, um, I actually really want to talk to you," he whispered. Fatima looked up and tilted her head in confusion.

"We were in the food truck for ten hours and you still have more to tell me?" she teased. Rountree looked down and blushed.

"Yeah, I guess so," he whispered. Fatima laughed.

"Okay, fine. I'm hungry and I really need to pee, so let's go inside." she said, shoving her key into the lock. Devin perked up when he realized Fatima would likely be making food within a few minutes. They went inside, and Fatima tossed her bag onto the couch. She whimpered and crossed her legs, then darted to the bathroom. Devin shook his head, trying not to let his mind wander. He sat down on the couch and busied himself with his phone. Fatima emerged a few minutes later wearing black sweatpants, a gray hoodie, and a black hijab. She went straight to the kitchen and opened the fridge. Rountree immediately perked up. Fatima laughed. "I'm going to put some pizza in the oven, how much do you want?" she asked. She knew it wasn't if he wanted it, but how much he wanted.

Devin considered the question. He truthfully was hungry enough for an entire pizza, but he also wanted to be polite. "Um, I'll have however much you're having," he replied. He figured that was his best bet. Fatima chuckled to herself. She knew what he was doing. She opened the fridge and pulled out some veggies.

"You want a salad too?" she asked.

"Sure. You mind if I use your bathroom?" he asked.

"Go right ahead. No snooping," she replied, chopping some carrots. Pretty soon, they each had two slices of pizza and a salad on the table. Rountree sat down and looked away. He was terrified to actually talk to her.

"Thank you," he said shyly.

"No problem. So what did you want to talk to me about?" she replied sweetly. Devin gulped and took a sip of his iced tea.

"Um, well, it's just that-" he began quietly.

"Speak," she teased.

"Don't judge me," he replied shyly.

"Okay. Just say it," she said. She took a bite of her salad and looked up expectantly.

"I'm pretty sure I'm falling in love with you," he blurted out. He immediately turned bright red and looked down. Fatima was stunned silent. "I'm sorry, it's just that being around you so much, every day I see how awesome you are, and it's just that-" he rambled. Fatima giggled.

"Shh. Hey," she replied, trying not to laugh at how flustered he was.

"And I, I , um, I don't even know if you date or, or, you-" he rambled.

"Hey, hey, hey. Don't do that. You know I date. Okay?" she interrupted.

"I know I don't deserve this, I don't deserve you, but if you just give me one chance," he begged. Fatima smiled.

"Tell you what. Let's give it one week. If it doesn't work, then no harm done. Okay?" she replied. She was unashamedly amused at how flustered he was.

"Really?" he asked shyly.

"Of course. But ground rules. Work is work, and home is home. Okay? None of this at work," she said firmly. Devin nodded and smiled shyly. The idea of being with her almost 24/7 was awesome, in his opinion.

"Of course," he replied.

Once dinner was done, they curled up on the couch together. They had already changed into pajamas and were watching a movie. Fatima was nearly asleep when her mom wandered into the room.

"Oh, Devin, sweetie, I'm so glad you could come over and spend some time with my baby. She was missing you so much, I even caught her snuggling with your sweater," her mom said to him. Fatima sat straight up.

"Mom! Please, there are some things we don't tell people!" Fatima snapped, embarrassed.

"Hey, hey, hey. It's okay. It's fine," he murmured, pulling her back into his arms. Fatima closed her eyes before she could cry. "Shh, it's okay. Do you want to go to bed now?" he purred in her ear. Fatima nodded a little. Rountree scooped her into his arms and kissed her forehead. He carried her into her bedroom and playfully tossed her onto the bed. Fatima squealed as she hit the bed. Devin laughed and crawled in next to her. He turned off the lights, causing Fatima to gasp. He realized he forgot to turn on the nightlight and immediately corrected his mistake. "Are you okay?" he whispered worriedly.

"Yeah. I'm okay now," she whispered. She crawled over to him and rested her head on his chest. Devin put his arms around her and gently pushed her over. He crawled over so that they were snuggling in the middle of the bed. He pressed a soft kiss to her lips and let his hand rest on her hip. She smiled and let their legs tangle as they fell asleep.

"Sleep tight, sweet girl. Thank you for giving me a chance," he whispered.

"Of course. Give me another kiss," she replied softly. Rountree sweetly kissed her, and she immediately kissed him back.
