It had been many centuries since I last saw another monster, let alone a human. Not that I really cared that I was alone, I knew I deserved to be. No, I knew I deserved much worse.

Even as a small child I was never good, or at least not nearly good enough. I was an outcast even among monsters, an anomaly that should never have happened. I didn't have a single friend in the world, only my family was there for me but that didn't amount to much.

I always asked too much of my parents, wanting a love I knew they could never give me. They beat me and yelled at me. Everything I did was a nuisance to them, but that was forgivable, they fed me, clothed me, and gave me shelter after all.

Due to this lack of love, I realized I wasn't worthy of it. I started working hard, learning new things, trying to be the best daughter I could. Yet nothing ever came of it, my parents never treated me any different.

One day walking through town, I was jumped by a group of kids. Both human and monster children attacked me, pulling at my hair, scratching my face, tearing at my clothes, and burning my flesh. They only stopped when they were satisfied, even the adults did nothing to stop them.

They never did.

After I went home that day, my father saw that I was covered in blood. I saw the look of fear in his eyes, it was clear what he was thinking, but to a thirteen-year-old kid it wasn't quite that obvious. As I looked up at him crying he was wondering what horrible thing I had done. Without even asking, he beat me for it.

I asked him to listen to me so many times, and he just wouldn't hear it. Even my mother did nothing to help. After about an hour trying to get through to them, trying to understand… I snapped.

My magic was a unique type, mine was based on emotion. The more pain and sadness I felt the more likely I was to lose control of it. Normally my magic was natural, a patch of flowers would appear wherever I stepped, a beautiful kind of magic. Beneath that magic was the cause of all the hate I'd endured, a darkness that took great strength to control. A curse that killed my parents and lead me on a dangerous path.

I was imprisoned many years, until the monster king freed me.

He asked me to join the war of humans against monster, I didn't agree at first. But then he said I would be a hero, and being the naïve monster that I was I agreed.

That's when my power was truly unleashed.

At the base of Mt Ebott the war was fought and won. Countless people were killed, but neither a single monster, nor a single human landed a blow.

After all those years, my power couldn't be controlled. My vision went dark and the next thing I knew I was standing in a pool of blood and dust. I was so afraid, I ran. But the humans, and the monsters teamed up. They surrounded me with all the strongest mages they could muster, and imprisoned me in a crystal prison overlooking the flower field of death I had created.

That was my sin, and that was my punishment.

I was frozen in place, for such a long time. Staring at the same scene, as time went by. Thinking of what I could have done different. Not that it mattered at this point, I was destined to be evil from the beginning. Destined to live trapped here for ever for my crimes.

That's what I thought, until one day I awoke some place new.

"Amity…"

I looked around trying to find whoever was talking, but all I could see was darkness. I walked forward until I saw a small light, a purple butterfly fluttering of into the distance. I chased after it, and as I did more and more of them appeared. All of them swarming in the same direction, until they stopped and flew up into the air revealing a grassy field covered in purple hyacinths.

A girl stood staring off into the sunset, her long blonde hair being tossed along with the wind. She wore a pure white dress and upon her back were two purple wings like the butterflies I'd seen before.
She turned around and smiled at me, as though she was expecting me.

"Amity!" She called cheerfully.

I looked down at the ground and didn't move a single step. I didn't want to risk harming another person, my greatest fear was causing pain to others./p

"Don't worry, there is no pain here Amity." She reassured me, pulling the thoughts right out of my head.

"Where are we?" I asked, everything up till this point was overwhelming to say the least.

She smiled walking closer, "We're in your dreams."

"How can that be? This is too real…"

"It is real."

"Then how…"

"Dreams are their own little worlds, every time you sleep you go into that world. Those worlds are where I live." She explained.

"You live in my dreams?"

She was right next to me at this point as she replied, "In yours and many others, I'm trapped here just like you in your prison. The only difference is, you can break out of yours easily."

"I don't want to."

"I know, but there is something you need to do."

"What is it?"

She gently plucked a flower from the ground, and threw it up into the air, it exploded into glitter that coated the world around us and reshaped it into a forest of Wisteria./p

Among the trees was a skeleton carrying a child through the tree's./p

"This is happening right now, that is my sister and friend. One day they will find you, when they do they will be in grave danger. Please save them, only you can."

"When will that day come?"

"When the flowers start wilting."

When the flowers start wilting? But they can't, they were made from magic…

"They may be magic, but even that is corruptible."

"Why should I help you?"

"Isn't this the chance you'd been seeking all along?"

"What chance?"

"A chance at redemption."

"I… Okay I'll help."

"You were never destined to be evil, you were destined to save the world. I know. Now, see you on the other side… One day at least."

She stepped forward and wrapped me into a warm hug, "Now wake up." As soon as those words hit my ears the world around me faded away.

I awakened staring of into the same field yet again, but this time was different. I felt a since of hope that I had abandoned a long time ago, and for once in my life I was no longer sad or afraid. I was free.
