Emmeline was just a regular girl. She lived in a regular house, with regular parents and a regular dog. There was nothing special about her. She sometimes wished that she was magical, and she could meet people and make new friends. Emmeline lay on her bed, looking at all her photos. There were dozens, all stacked precariously upon her wooden shelf. She did live a happy life though. She always gazed dreamily into one particular photo; the one of her and her parents in Central London.

"Lights out, Emma!" called her mother.

Emmaline retreated to bed, and collapsed down onto her pillow. She tucked herself into the bed. And she lay awake all night long.

Little did she know, it was the next day that changed her life. The day that would change her forever.

Emmaline was in bed. She was too tired to get up. She had snoozed her alarm clock about ten times. She would just not rise.

DING DONG! DING DONG!

Mail. Her mother, dashed along the corridor for the door. She was met with a petrifying surprise!

HOOT HOOT!

A snowy owl just swooped by! She screamed, and fled away from the giant bird. She found this impossible for an owl to be awake at this time! Emma had just awoken, and she descent the narrow staircase, in her night robes. She glimpsed at the open door, and the letter, lying on the floor. She slammed the door closed, and grabbed the letter. Looking at the stamp on it, she ran to her room.

It read:

It must've been junk mail. It was way too good to be true. But before she could report about the letter to her parents, she thought hardly, and remembered something. The crest stamped on the envelope seemed familiar to her. The griffin, the snake, the raven and the badger all represented something. Something to do with her…
