Chapter 11
A few days later Anzio was sitting in a luxurious carriage. He gazed out the window still infatuated by the purity and nature of this world.
Anzio didn't plan to ride the carriage all the way, they used gate to get to a road closer to the Re-Estize capital. The carriage was spacious. Every part of it was luxurious. It had intricate golden ornaments while the carriage itself was pure white. Some ornaments depicted angelic or demonic scenery. The carriage was pulled by 4 white horses Anzio summoned using an item.
Anzio wanted to go with a smaller escort but his entourage ended up being six Thrones, four Cherubs, two Nephalem and with him inside the carriage the Seraph Namiel sat across from him.
"You seemed really angry at that meeting, what pissed you off so much ?" Namiel asked. She seemed to act more casually around Anzio than most servants.
"Well I found out about the atrocities the Slane Theocracy has been doing to the elves and the elven king is no better, he is a serial rapist…" Anzio sighed, rubbing his temples.
"So you are a man of morals huh." Namiel stated slightly surprised. "I figured that you'd be a tad more neutral or maybe even evil considering the amount of monsters in that tomb."
"The term monster fits some humans much better." Anzio replied coldly as they entered the capital city. The guards let them through without issue. Namiel went to consult the escort assigned by the king and all things, apart from the escort openly gawking at Namiel's beauty, went smoothly.
The poverty of the common people was plain to see. The poor peasants looked at the carriage with envy. The closer and closer they got to the Noble's district a change was evident. Paved roads, nicer clothes and houses. Anzio gritted his teeth, this reminded him of his old world all too much.
"Sebas is in this city. I should pay him a visit after the audience with the king." Anzio tried to distract himself from the negative thoughts which still pestered him in the back of his mind.
Soon enough they got to the castle and Anzio was informed that they would need to get settled in their rooms, after that Anzio would have an audience with the king and nobility. And after that a dinner with the royal family. Anzio's guards would also be given rooms of their own to rest.
Anzio was glad there would be no large banquet held for him so he happily followed the servants to the decently accommodating room. Anzio noticed it was of decent quality but nowhere near Nazarick's level. The decorations were bulky and lacked elegance. They were made of silver or gold but lacked almost any proper artistic value.
Anzio decided to change his outfit to fit a royal setting a bit more than the robes of a magic caster. He went with a formal suit which clung to his body only slightly loose around his wrists, the suit was almost fully black in color with only few golden and red details and etchings providing any sort of contrast.
Anzio would have prefered to go in his magic caster divine level items but he could switch to them at any moment and Namiel pointed out one should leave a good visual impression in a place where greed and materialism holds sway.
Albedo also suggested that Anzio should be escorted by at least Namiel since taking any more escorts might be a show of hostility or paranoia.
Anzio chuckled, the relationship between Namiel and Albedo was interesting, the two didn't seem to get along, often attempting to get beneath the other's skin, but they knew they both had to remain professional.
A knock could be heard on the door.
"Enter." Anzio spoke already sensing who the person was.
Namiel appeared wearing a dark blue dress. The dress clung form-fitting to her frame loosening just beneath her waist. The dress wasn't gaudy and lacked any over the top decorations but it didn't need to be like that. Namiel compared to most mortal women held an unparalleled level of beauty. She was rivaled only by Anzio's other summons and the NPCs of Nazarick itself. Namiel knew that and decided to show off her body in a fashion that wasn't as angelic as one would expect. The dress displayed her curves and well shaped chest perfectly.
Although most parts of her torso were covered in the blue fabric, Namiel decided to incorporate a plunge neckline revealing a good portion of skin of her upper torso.
Anzio blushed a bit. She was attractive but Anzio felt no romantic attachment to her, he simply admired her body like any teenage boy would. "You look stunning."
"Thank you, my Lord." She bowed playfully.
A knock came, Anzio gave permission to enter and a servant opened the door. "The king will see you now." The Servant spoke professionally and Anzio and Namiel nodded as they began following the servant.
In the throne room the anticipation and tension could be felt in the air. None of the nobles knew what type of monster would go through that door at any moment now.
"Announcing Lord Anzio of Ainz Ooal Gown and Lady Namiel." The announcer spoke and the doors opened as Anzio and Namiel stepped through. Both bowed respectfully but neither knelt. The nobles were too busy to reprimand their lack of courtesy because they were in awe staring at the body of the woman named Namiel with barely hidden lust.
The man beside her was also a shock. They couldn't believe one so young would be a magic caster with such power. He appeared human to them, the only unnerving things about him were those mismatched eyes.
"Lord Anzio, my name is King Ramposa III, it is a pleasure to meet you. I can now finally express my sincerest gratitude to you for saving my Warrior Captain and the village of Carne." Ramposa spoke and Anzio flashed a smile.
"I did it because it was the right thing to do, King Ramposa." Anzio replied with sincerity.
"It is heartwarming to see that such good men still exist in this world." Ramposa spoke, glancing at some of his nobles.
"Now I do feel like you should be rewarded for such a good deed, do you have any specific request for a reward ?" Ramposa asked, the nobles shifted uneasily at the mention of a reward.
"Hmm… you see, I have done some information gathering after coming here." Anzio smiled and continued talking.
"I have discovered that the Great Forest of Tob and the Great Lake are not officially parts of any nation. My servants have subjugated the entire forest, and the Great Lake will be subjugated soon enough." Anzio spoke as the room was in disbelief.
"You lie, magic caster !" One of the nobles shouted and the others shouted in agreement. "This isn't a funny joke, commoner." Another reprimanded.
One of the adventurers guild representatives present in the room approached the throne and knelt.
"My Liege, we did get reports that no monsters have left the forest for several weeks. It became a problem for some adventurers who make coin from monster hunting." The man spoke.
The hall was in disbelief. 'How many powerful servants did this man possess ?'
"I plan to establish my nation there." Anzio smiled.
"So you would… like our recognition ?" Ramposa III asked and Anzio nodded.
"That and I would like to get Carne and the surrounding villages since I have established a good relationship with them." Anzio and Namiel smiled and the throne room was baffled.
"You ask for a lot of things Lord Anzio." Marquis Blumrush spoke.
"I don't think it's a lot, I'd say I'm being quite modest really. I saved the life of your Warrior Captain, which in turn helped maintain the stability of your kingdom and the royal family." Anzio spoke.
"Of course unless you wanted the kingdom to get destabilized so a nation like the… Baharuth Empire would benefit ?" Anzio looked directly at Blumrush when saying that.
'This bastard, he knows I'm working with the empire ?!' Blumrush thought in shock.
Renner observed the situation in amusement. This man in front of her was incredibly intelligent and he obviously had access to a powerful information network. He was a threat and Renner had to make sure not to antagonize him.
Gazef observed the situation standing beside his majesty. The Nobles would blame him for this, surely.
"Enough !" Ramposa silenced the room.
"I think that you deserve the reward you have requested, Lord Anzio. I only wish that our nations remain in good relations." Ramposa spoke sincerely and Anzio nodded. "I wish the same, King Ramposa."
The nobles mostly looked uncomfortable with the decision. 'How dare that incompetent father of mine give away any land that is rightfuly mine when I inherit it ?!' The crown prince was furious. He couldn't believe how weak his father had become.
In the royal dining room a few hours later. "So Lord Anzio, what would this upcoming nation of yours be willing to trade ?" Zanac decided to start up a conversation.
"Well I have met a talented pair of alchemists that are willing to work for me so I plan to make healing potions widely available. " Anzio started.
"I also intend to produce a large quantity of magic items since I have many talented magic casters under my wing." Anzio smiled and Zanac nodded. Renner understood the value of dominating those two markets. Especially if their production abilities were as great as Anzio claimed.
"If I recall correctly, there are many demi humans living in the Great Forest of Tob and around the Great Lake, what will happen with them ?" Ramposa asked.
"They will become my citizens of course." Anzio responded nonchalantly.
"You would call those filthy monsters your citizens ?" Barbro asked, shocked.
"If they follow my laws they are my citizens." Anzio stared at the crown prince coldly. Demiurge had told him that Barbro was connected with Eight Fingers and Anzio couldn't find any redeeming qualities in that man.
"I think that there are some humans which fit the description monster much better than many demi humans." Anzio's expression was filled with demonic malice.
Before the crown prince could say anything Anzio cut him off. "I hear the situation with Eight Fingers in this nation is quite bad, maybe I could help you with it ?" Anzio offered.
Renner was amazed by how this seemingly young man was outplaying her foolish older brother.
Ramposa to ease the tensions cleared his throat and asked. "Is the food to your liking, Lord Anzio, Lady Namiel ?"
"It's delicious, thank you." Namiel replied and Anzio agreed. 'This food is poisoned, Ramposa isn't someone who'd try something so stupid. Well I should just ignore it for now.'
"The food is delicious but it pains me to see so much of it go to waste when it could feed the ones starving." Renner spoke in an innocent voice.
Anzio was warned by Demiurge that the Golden princess wore a mask and he was just witnessing it.
"I heard you have done many reforms to help the people and they dubbed you the Golden Princess, truly a feat worthy of a monarch don't you think ?" Namiel spoke. "Truly a pity you weren't the firstborn." The Seraph sighed.
That did it for Barbro, he stood up and drew his sword pointing it at Namiel.
'How dare this whore question my position as the crown prince ?' The idiotic prince was fuming and was about to swing his sword at Namiel, but an incredible wave of power hit him.
"You shouldn't hold that sword boy. Swords are not the weapons a coward should use." Namiel chuckled as Barbro dropped his sword and slumped into his chair. He nearly wet himself. What type of power did that witch have ?
The room stared in disbelief. Anzio looked at Namiel. If she hadn't intimidated the prince with her aura first Anzio would have probably killed the vile man.
"Forgive my servant, King Ramposa, she lacks tactfulness." Anzio bowed his head.
Just as Ramposa was about to speak, blood came pouring out of his mouth. 'Those idiots poisoned the king as well ?!'
Anzio stood up. Renner, Zanac and Barbro gathered around the king worried.
Barbro was faking worry. "Guards get the priests and healers now !" The Crown Prince yelled.
Renner had a mask of fake worry. Behind the innocent gaze she was calculating. But sometimes a smart man is easier to predict. This was clearly a plan of an idiot.
Anzio stood up and cast a spell.
[Divine light]
Anzio extended his hand and a warm light fell upon Ramposa. The spell erased the poison in an instant.
"Our food was poisoned as well but we have magic items on, that protect us from such attacks." Anzio explained. They had a natural immunity but he wanted the enemy to underestimate him.
"Who would have done such a thing ?" Zanac asked, shocked.
"Probably someone unhappy with Ramposa's decision to give me Carne." Anzio concluded and glanced at Barbro.
Some priests came into the room rushing. "I cast a healing spell on the king, he'll be alright just let him rest." Anzio informed the priests.
The priests nodded and the king was taken away. Anzio mentally ordered a Hanzo to watch over Ramposa and then turned to Renner and Zanac.
"I will not blame the kingdom for this attempt on my life but I would like to know who did it." Anzio bowed politely. He was intentionally focusing on the second prince and third princess. He wanted to piss off the crown prince even more by ignoring him as the highest ranking person in the kingdom while the king was compromised.
Anzio decided to wait until the king recovered. There have been no assasination attempts on either of them after that dinner. Gazef was by Ramposa's side all the time and no one dared to openly attack a powerful magic caster while they had their guard up. Anzio's extensive network of Shadow Demons along with Demiurge's help did reveal that Barbro planned it but Anzio decided to wait. Demiurge had established contact with Renner and won her over as planned. And Demiurge recognizing the Supreme One's 'masterplan' knew Re-Estize would soon be theirs.
Anzio was making his way to Ramposa's office while Namiel was arranging the things necessary for their departure. The servant let Anzio inside and Gazef stiffened for a moment before recognizing that the person entering was his saviour.
"King Ramposa, I hope your recovery is going well ?" Anzio bowed.
"I have never felt healthier in the last 20 years, Lord Anzio. Whatever the spell you cast on me was, it did wonders." The old king chuckled.
"It brings me great joy to hear that. I just wanted to let you know we would be leaving today." Anzio smiled.
"I wish you a safe journey, Lord Anzio. I hope we will meet again and that next time someone won't try to assassinate us." The king half joked.
"I hope for the same. King Ramposa, Gazef-dono, take care." He said his goodbyes to the two men and left.
Anzio felt at ease. He gave the Hanzo guarding Ramposa an additional order. The Hanzo was now tasked with protecting both Ramposa and the Warrior Captain. Anzio didn't dislike the king but he respected the warrior captain much more.
In another part of the city, a few days earlier. Sebas was on a walk back to the mansion. He was still thinking of the boy he had met by the name of Climb. The boy had resolve and a good heart.
Sebas took a deep breath. He knew he wasn't as discreet as he could be, but every time he saw an innocent in trouble the words of his creator appeared in his mind. And every time he fulfilled his creator's wish he felt joy and satisfaction like no other. The feeling when one is fulfilling their purpose.
The sun was close to setting, he was walking through an empty street and then he saw the door of one of the buildings open. A man stepped through and threw a bag onto the cold cobble path. Sebas noticed that the bag wasn't filled with simple trash. He sent his shadow demon to slice the bag open.
Through the cut bag a bruised hand fell through. Sebas bent down, noticing the body of a woman he felt she was barely breathing. Her breaths were irregular and raspy. Many ribs were broken.
"Oi you, what do you think you're doing ?" A tall muscular man stepped through the door.
"I should ask you the same question: what do you think you're doing to this woman ?" Sebas asked, his tone neutral.
"I'm taking out the trash old man, move along !" The man yelled.
"Trash, is it ?" Sebas looked at him with barely hidden malice.
"Do you want me to help you ?" Sebas bent down, her eyes were barely open. She moved her swollen lips but no sound escaped her mouth. Sebas was about to ask again when the woman reached her hand out grabbing him with force he hadn't expected from such a heavily wounded person.
"Very well, you are now under my protection." Sebas spoke and stood up.
"Like hell, I never agreed to this !" The burly man yelled.
Sebas released his killing intent and the man fell over onto his own ass. " 'Like hell' you say…"
"You don't understand, she belongs to Eight Fingers, if I don't dispose of her properly I'll end up dead." The man was on his knees.
Sebas dropped a few gold coins in front of the man. "Use this to travel out of their reach then." Sebas picked the woman up and carried her to the mansion.
"Welcome back Sebas-sama." Yuri bowed and then noticed the heavily wounded woman in his hands.
"Yuri please fetch a healing scroll, my healing ki isn't enough to help her." Sebas ordered and the Pleiades maid obeyed.
"The girl is resting, Sebas-sama." Yuri reported. "Her injuries were truly horrid, where did you find her ?" Yuri asked.
"She was dumped on the street as trash, she was property of Eight Fingers." Sebas spoke and Yuri sighed.
"I agree that you did the right thing by rescuing her but are you certain this won't compromise the Supreme One's plan ?" Yuri asked, her demeanor neutral as she fixed her glasses pushing them back to the bridge of her nose.
"I will report this to the Supreme One in our weekly report, Lord Anzio is kind, I am certain he'll understand." Sebas spoke with only a hint of worry in his voice.
"Let's get the girl some food, she should wake up soon." Sebas decided to sound a bit more cheery and Yuri nodded.
A few days passed. The girl Sebas rescued gradually became more trusting and relaxed compared to how she previously acted. She asked Sebas to give her work and Sebas decided to let her work as a maid around the mansion. Just when the time came for Sebas's weekly report and Sebas went on to activate the message he was interrupted by his Lord's voice.
(Oh Sebas, no need to report to me via message today, I'll come and visit you in person soo.) Anzio spoke in a cheery voice. Sebas was worried. He couldn't detect any anger or malice from his lord's voice but he still had his doubts.
Soon enough a knock on the door came and Yuri opened it. "Good to see you Yuri, it's been a while." Anzio greeted and by his side an unknown woman stood.
They entered and went to the living room where Anzio sat down and the others knelt. Anzio quickly asked them to rise.
"Please sit, I think we can have a more comfortable conversation that way." Yuri and Sebas immediately protested as expected.
Namiel took initiative and sat down first, forcing the two servants to reluctantly do the same.
"Now to introduce you, this is one of the angels I have summoned, the Seraph Empyrean, Namiel." Anzio smiled as the servants became acquainted.
After a small exchange of pleasantries Sebas looked at Anzio and bowed.
"My Lord, I have something to report." Sebas spoke, worry and anxiety evident in his voice.
"Of course, please do." Anzio smiled.
"A few days ago when I was on my walk back to the mansion after purchasing some scrolls at the magician's guild I stumbled upon a heavily wounded girl tossed onto the street. She was property of Eight Fingers. After rescuing her I used up one of the scrolls you have granted us to heal her." Sebas spoke and didn't dare to raise his head.
Anzio listened to the story and a smile formed on his face as he finished it. Sebas felt a hand land on his shoulder. "Well done Sebas, Touch Me would be proud of you." Anzio smiled at the Butler of Steel.
"Thank you, my Lord, please forgive me. I have underestimated your kindness." Sebas bowed once again.
"It's alright, Sebas. By doing what you did you honored your creator and one of my dearest friends. I'll never reprimand you because of that." Anzio flashed a smile radiating kindness from his youngish face.
"Now… I would like to meet the girl you have rescued." Anzio looked at Yuri and Sebas.
"I shall go fetch her at once my lord." Sebas stood up and bowed, exiting the room.
"Poor girl must have gone through a lot huh, Yuri, Namiel, don't intimidate or frighten the girl in any way." Anzio ordered.
"Lady Tsuare ?" Sebas knocked on the door.
"P...please come inside." She spoke and Sebas slowly opened the door entering the room.
"Did you sleep well ?" Sebas inquired.
"Y… yes t… thank you, it was one of the nicest sleeps I had in a long time." She smiled weakly.
"My Lord would like to meet you, please get dressed." Sebas spoke curtly.
A flash of fear and worry appeared on her face. "Do not worry Lady Tsuare. My Lord is one of the kindest I know, he is nothing like those humans." Sebas assured her.
"H… he isn't human ?" Tsuare asked, only curiosity present in her tone.
"Yes, my Lord is a Nephalem, a half angel, half demon." Sebas spoke.
"I… I have never heard of those." Tsuare got into her maid outfit. Sebas looked away as she did. Tsuare felt safe around the Butler of Steel in a way she couldn't describe and even though they hadn't known each other for long she trusted him.
Anzio was waiting and chatting with Yuri and Namiel. He was telling a funny story about one time when Yamaiko rushed into a den of Wyverns and how the rest of the guild had to jump in after her to rescue her. Punitto Moe was pissed to say the least but the guild ended up with lots of materials from that event.
A knock interrupted the story as Yuri stood up and opened it.
Sebas bowed and Tsuare followed. She locked eyes with the man sitting on the couch in the middle of the room. He had dark hair. His red eye made her feel cold as if behind that eye primordial chaos hid. His green eye calmed her as if serenity and kindness were hiding beyond it. Tsuare felt at ease. She scanned the room, recognizing lady Yuri and an unknown beautiful blonde green eyed woman which had the same feeling of serenity around her.
"My name is Anzio of Ainz Ooal Gown." The young man introduced himself.
"I want you to know you are in no danger and in fact you may consider yourself under my protection since my servant chose to rescue you." He smiled.
Tsuare clung to Sebas and took a deep breath. "My… my… name is Tsuare." The girl spoke meekly.
"Forgive me I know you must have been through a lot, but may I know your full name ?" Anzio asked, his eyes widening slightly after hearing that name.
"T… Tsuareninya Veyron." The girl introduced herself.
"You really do resemble her." Anzio chuckled. "Well done, Sebas, you have unintentionally completed one of Nazarick's objectives." Anzio smiled, he was clearly happy.
Sebas bowed. "Thank you, my lord."
"Yuri, Sebas prepare to leave the mansion, I think you have done enough, we shall return to Nazarick at once, leave only the sentries behind." Anzio ordered.
[Gate]
A void in reality appeared as Anzio spoke those words. Tsuare clung onto Sebas even tighter.
"Don't worry this is the safest transportation spell there is. Come on, there's someone waiting for you on the other side." Anzio smiled as he stepped through. Tsuare looked at Sebas and he nodded. She gathered enough courage to step through the ripple in reality.
When she stepped through she found herself in a massive amphitheatre. By her side the man called Anzio stood. He was tall and focused on something.
Tsuare followed his line of sight and noticed a group of humans sparring with an angel. She looked closer and noticed she knew one of the people fighting with the divine being.
"Don't worry it's just a spar, your sister was working really hard to get strong so she could rescue you." Anzio smiled as Tsuare watched, tears began flooding her eyes.
The spar ended and Ninya noticed Peter and Lukrut were looking at someone. She recognized Anzio standing there and by his side was a person she hadn't expected to see for a long time.
She sprinted towards the pair as the two sisters crashed into a powerful hug.
"T… tsuare is that you ?" Ninya asked.
"Yes… it's been a while hasn't it, little sis." She hugged her tightly as the both girls wept tears of joy finally reunited at last.
AN: I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I am happy to see some positive reviews. This story will diverge a lot from cannon understanding of magic and summoning as we go on so if you are an overlord purist too bad.
