Disclaimer: Really now?
Jade stared at the black spots on the dirty white ceiling as she laid on her cot. The bright overhead lights made it impossible for her to get any form of shut eye. Tugging at the plastic zipper on her orange jumpsuit, she snorted as it came loose in her hand.
She continued fiddling at the broken zipper idly as thoughts continued to stream through her mind. Despite being awake for the last forty-eight hours, her brain refused to turn off to allow her to rest. She knew she did not do it, but no one else believed her. It did not help that her favorite pair of scissors was found stuck in the body when it was found.
Beck's official cause of death was a single stab to the heart. Officers at the scene found 128 stab wounds all over his body when they arrived at his trailer. Jade had not been allowed to see his corpse in person, but she had seen pictures of the crime scene when she was being questioned by the police.
The image was burnt into her mind. The body didn't even look real. The only thing she could recognise in the photo was Beck's pound pendant, the one she gave to him as a three-month anniversary present all those years ago. Beck had been seen wearing it since.
Even his signature fluffy hair was messed up. A clump of it was found stuck to the wall, covered in his blood. From what the detective had told her, he put up a valiant struggle as he was attacked, his blood splashing all over the walls and on his bed. Even his fish tank had traces of the red liquid.
Jade had broken up with the boy over a month ago. After a brief reconcile at the Full Moon Jam barely three months before, it did not take long for the both of them to settle back into their normal quarreling. The final quarrel replayed in her mind.
"Stop following me! Go and find Meredith, either of the annoying Vegas, Suzie or whichever Northridge bitch in your car!"
"I already told you Jade, Meredith just sent me the box of cupcakes as a birthday present!"
"Oh, so you think that a box of cupcakes from her is a fantastic gift, but a case of lemonade from me is a terrible gift. Very perceptive, Beckett!"
"What? I didn't say that your present is bad! It's just that as my girlfriend, you should know to get me better, more memorable presents!"
"So now my presents are boring and not memorable?"
"Look, even our friends got me a photo frame of us all as a present. It's something I can look at and remind me of our friendship when they are not here."
"So you hate lemonade now? I got you four dozens cans of the damn thing, how can you not think of me when you drink lemonade now?"
"It's not the same, Jade!"
"OH."
She remembered herself standing up.
"It's over, for good this time Beckett. I did not say anything when you tried to kiss Vega, or did nothing when the bitches in your car hit on you daily in the morning. Yes, I know about all that, but I chose to trust you instead and not say anything. I am tired of all your lies and excuses."
"What did I do now?"
"It's not what you did, but rather what you did not do. You did not push them away when they initiated contact with you. You tried to kiss Vega behind my back when we were going through a rough patch."
"We broke up then, and she did not even accept the kiss. She pushed me away."
"I know. That's on her. You wanted to kiss her, not the other way around."
Jade opened the door of Beck's RV.
"Goodbye Beck. Do what you want. We're over."
A/N: Should I continue with the story? I'm not new to fanfic writing, but this is my first time writing a Victorious fanfic.
