Yes...
A heavy storm is coming. He could feel it in his bones. Beneath the decayed flesh and rotten bones, Jason knew this was going to be an intense summer storm. Although the sky was still shiny and the lake was glistening in the warm evening sun, some dark and heavy clouds came marching towards Crystal Lake. In about 30 minutes, or so. He started to gather his tools and weapons to store them away in the underground tunnels. As soon as the winds start to increase, all the animals around the camp would dart back to their homes, but sometimes some might get caught up in their search for food or other distractions and will rush back in panic, when they hear the thunder rolling over the woods. He can't forget, how that one time, a young male deer got caught in one of the bear traps, while fleeing from the heavy winds. It was his fault. When he approached the deer, it started to panic even more.
Even though the cracking of bones and ripping of flesh and muscle never bothered or budged him. But that one time, it made his broad chest ache and stomach hurt, when the young buck ripped his own leg off the trap to get away from the blood stained behemoth. The creatures of the woods accept him to the point that he was able to feed many by hand. With bread, corn, sausage and other stuff. Well.. He wasn't going to let food go to waste. Campers brought food. Lot's of food. Most of them were harmful for animals, but he could easily detect what was fitting and what not. The young deer fled and did not survive. He did not see it's death or corps, but that wound.. Nothing and nobody could survive loosing so much blood. He knew it.. Well.. From personal experience.
The giant of a man packed up his things and started to look for the scattered traps around the camp and secret paths, to avoid another accident. Jason always smeared juices from poisonous berries and mushrooms on- and around the traps, so animals will notice and avoid these particular spots.
Strong winds and heavy rain confuses their senses and concentration. No. Never again. Sometimes, campers fall face forward into a trap. Maybe they die in an instant or it takes several painful hours for the lights to go out. He didnt care. Good, though! No fighting, no disturbance. Just peace and quiet.
A hoard of rabbits came rushing down the hill. One almost ran into his feet, but zick-zacked around in time. A little smile formed underneath his old wornout hockey mask. A rare occasion no living human will ever witness.
Better keep on moving!
It did not matter if there were traps or not in stormy times. Those stupid morons would go straight into the cabins and he could finish the job from there. Idiots. Worms. Maggots. Filth. And many more names his mother would have scolded him for.
CRACK
What?
What's that? That tree looked weird..
CRACK
Uhm. That was certainly not normal. He has seen much... But never a tree with a face coming out of its bark.
"CHUUUUUGHH" The face came to life and gasped for air. Like as it was trapped in the wood and unable to breath.
Jason took several steps back and grabbed his machete.
It was a reflex. Whenever danger or uncertainty struck him, he would instantly go for his trusty old weapons or any other just in case.
"Havent seen the daylight in a long long time. "
That face. No. A man crept from beneath the wooden skin of the tree and leaned his face towards the last remaining rays of sunlight.
Jason could still not believe it. What was he.. That thing. Doing here? Some man was crawling out of a tree in the middle of the woods. HIS woods. Where no one was ever allowed to enter this cursed lands. His home. He will pay for entering his territory... He couldn't care less about this strange occurrence. Every human being would be horrified or creeped out about the sight. But. He definitely has seen weirder things down in hell so.. Just like in the fiery depths, he will also not question a strange event like this, too.
Just when he was about to strike his machete into the mans skull, the old guy waved his hand and shouted. "WAIT! I've been looking all over for you in hell! They told me where to find you!"
Hell? Great. He knew there was something wrong here. Not that something like this had happened in the mortal realm before. Damn it...
Better kill it before it- "I SAID WAIT! LET ME FINISH!" The man sounded annoyed and nervous, as he tried to impale him. Definitely from hell. Not afraid to die.
He would listen to his words and might decide to chop his head off, if he didn't have a good reason to disturb him or just came to piss him off. But if he was sent from some higher being, he might not want to piss them off. Alright.
He lowered his arm and straightened his back. A gesture to show he will listen. For now.
" Thank you. Ive been looking all over for you!" he already said that. "Because I want to bergain!" alright. Another stupid air brained, power hungry demon who wants to use him or his power or gain him as an ally for some stupid battle in the pits of hell to get dominance or great power. Yeah, definitely not missed that. Jason lifted his arm-" Nonono! I got a good-really really good deal! And it's only temporary!" of course it's only temporary. Like everything, there definitely wont be some sort of hook or aftermath...
"I mean it! We both lost someone, we hold dear... Someone we lost decades ago. Taken by some sour souls!" Ok this might get interesting. Just for entertainment, but mustn't take long, so he can remove the traps in time.
"one day my wife made a deal with a certain demon! Of course there was a hook, but she was so caught up in..." Jason's mind started to drift off. He did not stop for that. He counted all the places and the best routes to disarm his trap if it takes longer..." and that's why I must go there and enter the flames! It's simple, but no one can make it through them in one peace!" Jason rolled his eyes in annoyance. Thats what he came here for? This is why he put on the effort to literally crawl from hell to ask him to get his cursed wifes soul from some pathetic demon domain, whose garden is full off hell fire?
Yep. Easy task for Jason. It was well known that Jason's invulnerability enabled him to do the most badass shit in hell. How? No one knew.. Neither did he. Just like how he was not able to die so easy after he drowned. Nothing makes sense anyway. So he never questioned anything anyway. All he knew, was that he had all the power and strength to dominate his opponents who were foolish enough to get in the way.
In hell as on earth.
He tilted his head to the side.
"Hehe.. You want to know what's in it for you! Right?" the man licked his dry lips in anticipation. He waited for Jason to answer. No reaction. Only a hard stare..
"OK, OK. What if I tell you that I made some big errands and did my homework to present you a gift in exchange for your powers! T-temporarily of course!" What? He wanted his powers? For something he gathered in hell? Nothing. Literally nothing from that place could grant him anything he desired. How foolish and arrogant to think some silly and puny little-
" A NORMAL FACE!"
What?
What did he say?
" Yes, you heard me just right! A normal human face and a normal human body! Just say it and it's yours!"
Okay. Where was the hook. He tilted his head on the other side, which made his bones audible crack in return.
The man gulped and started to explain. Jason listened to his words and all conditions this little contract contained.
This... He did not expect that.
Not even a real drawback there. The spell is very simple, but harmless nonetheless.
If he agrees, would get something he can not deny... A deep craving.
A flame. An aching came to life.. Something he has forgotten and buried deep inside a long time ago. Just one time. A long forgotten wish.
Alright.
Without a second thought, more like a reflex, he grabbed the man's hand, who, in return, beamed with glee and shook his hand back with joy, as tears started to roll down the old man's wrinkled cheeks.
They both would get something, they wished for.
The man would be reunited. With love.
And Jason would get an opportunity.
Only temporarily
Good. Works for him.
Because he had a life long task to fulfill .
