Despite the perpetual bags under his eyes and his gothic wardrobe, Shinsou happened to be a morning person. Which meant when the first rays of sunlight beamed through the glass terrace doors, he was awake.
His heart raced when he remembered the night before. And felt the boy currently snuggled in his arms, breathing slowly and deeply. Shinsou saw his lightning bolt tattoo up close and personal, and noticed he had a freckle under his ear. In the dark, cuddling a cold person to warm them felt like a sane, normal thing to do. But in broad daylight, all he saw was Jiro's boyfriend cuddling him in stockings and underwear.
And it made him hard.
Shit. When he moved his eyes up, he saw Keigo and Dabi standing in the kitchen with mugs of coffee, watching him with the same sort of expression people have the first time they see a peacock in person.
Double shit. Shinsou immediately scrambled off the sofa and stood up. "I, uh - "
" - Not my department," Keigo said, holding his hand out.
" - Don't wanna know," Dabi concurred, stepping over bodies and brushing past Shinsou to get to the terrace. But not before holding out fifty bucks.
Shinsou took it hesitantly. "Why so much?"
"If you wanna get technical I shorted you if we're going by babysitting wages," Dabi said. "But that's what I have on me. I'll withdraw extra for you to never. Tell me. What happened."
He slid shut the glass door behind him as he walked out onto the terrace.
Keigo cleared his throat. "Look, I understand. Appeasing a sober Denki is a job in itself. A blitzed Denki is a whole other ball game. Lots of people ended up cuddling up to people they don't - "
" - Denki wasn't high."
He walked over with his cup of coffee and made a show of looking down at Denki. Then back at Shinsou. Then back down at Denki. Then back up at Shinsou. After a long pause and an uncomfortably long staring moment, Keigo pulled out a twenty from his athletic shorts and said, "Okay, I give up. What happened?"
Shinsou grabbed his sweater off the floor and threw it over his head. Then he grabbed the twenty. "He was cold," Shinsou said simply, briskly walking past Keigo and leaving out the front door.
As he descended down the elevator to the ground floor, he thought over last night pensively. And this morning. There was a thought that ran on loop in his mind that no matter how hard he tried to kill, wouldn't die.
When he saw the lightning bolt on Kaminari's cheek, he felt the urge to kiss it.
Kiss him.
Kiss Denki Kaminari.
Jiro's boyfriend.
"Son of a bitch," he muttered.

When Shinsou clocked into work that afternoon, Keigo and Dabi fell silent, averting their eyes as if to hide the fact they were talking.
Damn gossipers, he thought. They're probably trying to figure out what happened last night.
Shinsou gave them a head nod, trying to feign normalcy before grabbing a broom and sweeping the main walkway.
It wasn't long before Dabi walked over. "You know he's off-limits. Right?"
A pang stung Shinsou's heart. "Who?"
Dabi crossed his arms. "What the hell were you thinking?"
"Nothing happened," Shinsou insisted. "He was just cold."
"And you thought the best way to warm him up was - "
" it actually is," Shinsou said. "Google it."
"It's too late, Dabs," Keigo said, looking at him sadly. "Just let him be."
Shinsou looked up at Keigo with alarm. "What's too late?"
Dabi leaned his face down to stare into Shinsou's eyes. At first, he didn't know why. But then he muttered two words.
"Denki Kaminari."
Shinsou felt heat rise to his face. His stomach was suddenly in knots. He remembered the urge to kiss Kaminari's cheek. How he felt in his arms. The way he'd cried out Shinsou's name when he needed to be warmed.

"Fuck," Dabi snapped, pulling away and rubbing his temples. "It is too late."
"We'll think of something," Keigo said.
Dabi's jaw tensed. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have left him on his own with them."
"We both did."
Shinsou didn't panic. Or break down. Or get mad. He smiled away the problem and said something witty. "You guys are blowing this way out of proportion. I'm not gonna put the moves on Zappy because we cuddled. I cuddle my sister for god's sake."
"Denki's not a seven-year-old."
"That's up for debate."
"I'm not fucking around," Dabi snapped. "This is serious."
"I just said I'm not gonna - "
" - Denki's not the one I'm worried about. It's you."
Shinsou flushed, surprised.
"I don't want you to get your heartbroken."
Shinsou's shoulders sank as he gave a sad smile. I'm broom boy. I'm not the main character. I knew from the start I wasn't meant to fall in love or have storeroom hookups. My heart can't be broken if I didn't have any expectations, to begin with. But it was nice...to be included for a little while. I even got to hold Alice Kingsley. Keep her warm. Wallow with her in her darkness. That's enough for me.
"Hey, guys?" Izuku asked, peeking his head into Spencer's. "There's something you should see."
The Spencer's crew momentarily (and irresponsibly) left the store together to follow Hot Topic's newest cashier. In the main walkway that led to the escalators, a billboard had been put up.

Bakugo walked up to the sign and squinted at it, perplexed. "What the hell is Target?"
