Chapter 55-Returning home

Clarke's P.O.V

The moonlight shined on Clarke, Lexa, and Raven. Raven and Lexa stood behind Clarke as she took a deep breath. Clarke's eyes snap open when she hears movement in front of her. She pulls her dagger out. Luna, Anya, and the others come out of the woods on horses. They stop in front of them. "Where are they?" Anya asks.

"Dead," Clarke answers. "I killed them," Clarke tells them. "They killed Murphy, so I killed them. I made it slow and painful."

Jasper climbs off his horse and walks up to her. "Murphy's alive," He says softly.

"What? No, we saw him fall," Clarke says.

"He lived. He's in Polis, Monty's with him. A man found him on the riverbank. He's alive," Jasper tells them. Raven smiles as Clarke's body tenses.

"We need to get the bodies. They are still Azgeda," Lucy says as he climbs off the horse.

"Don't go in there. You don't want to. I'll do it," Clarke says.

"By yourself?" Jasper nods.

"Yeah," Clarke says. Lexa tries to grab Clarke's hand, but she pulls it away. "Go home, leave me a horse," Clarke says before she turns around and goes inside.

Lexa's P.O.V

"Did you see anything?" Luna asks her.

"No, she led us straight out. She's right. You need to go home. Take Raven with you. I'll stay here," Lexa says.

"Maybe we should leave her alone," Ontari says, making them look at her. "She did something to them, in a fit of rage or for revenge. She may not have liked them, but nobody deserves a painful death. She needs time to think," Ontari explains. Lexa hated to agree with Ontari, but she did. Clarke went to a dark place, and now she needs time alone. Lexa nods as she climbs on the back of Anya's horse. Ontari gets off her horse and ties it up before climbing on Jasper, and Raven climbs on Luna. They turn and leave.

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke drags Dillon's body onto the pile and throws it down. She had been down there for hours and was tired. She walks over to a small fire she had made and grabs a table leg she broke. She had made a small platform with the tables and put the bodies on them. She lights the table leg and goes back to the body. She lights the wood on fire, and it starts to spread across the bodies. She throws the torch on top and walks out of the room. Clarke gets to the stairs and stops. She sits on a step and runs her hands through her hair. She could hear his screams echoing in her head.

Clarke stands back up and walks up the stairs. She walks towards Dante's office and looks at the pool of blood still on the ground. "I did what I had to," Clarke says to herself. "I saved Raven and Lexa. I saved my people."

Clarke turns around and leaves Mount Weather.

Murphy's P.O.V

Murphy lays in the bed inside of the medical hut. He stares up at the ceiling. Monty had gone to lay down not long after he woke up. He hears the door open. "I'm still alive here, Abby. Don't worry," Murphy says.

"I'm not Abby," Raven says. Murphy looks at her.

"You okay?" Murphy asks. Raven shakes her head as she walks up to him. Murphy could see the tears in her eyes. He holds his hand out to Raven, who takes it. He pulls her into a hug. She lays her head on his chest, and she wraps her hands around his head. He felt pain in his wound, but he didn't care. He kissed her head, and the two fell into silence. Just glad to be with each other again.

Lexa's P.O.V

Lexa sat outside the medical hut. Raven had gone in two hours before, and she had been waiting for Raven to come out. She looks at the door as Raven comes out. "I'm going to go get food. If you want to talk to him," Raven tells Lexa, who nods. Raven smiles at her before she walks away. Lexa stands up and walks into the hut. She walks towards Murphy's bed and sees him sitting up. His back was against the headboard.

"Clarke back yet?" Murphy asks Lexa, who shakes her head as she sits down.

"What did Raven tell you?" Lexa asks.

"Not much. We didn't talk. She did say that you comforted her and that she heard you cry," Murphy says with a small smile.

"I thought she was sleeping," Lexa mutters. "I was sad that I thought you died."

"Thanks," Murphy says. "What happened?"

"I cried myself to sleep, and when I woke up, Clarke was gone. She gave back a few minutes later. She was covered in blood. From head to toe. When I looked into her eyes, I wasn't looking at Clarke. It was someone else. After she found out you were alive, she snapped out of it and didn't let anybody go into Mount Weather. She was scared of what we would see," Lexa tells Murphy.

"If she did do something that she didn't want us to see, it was rage-filled,"

"I know," Lexa says. "But I'm worried that it might come back and haunt her. Killing people is one thing, Murphy. But touring them is another. Their screams never leave your head. Their cries haunt you."

"Sounds like you have experience," Murphy tells her. Lexa sighs with a nod.

"When Azgeda took Costia. I was so mad. We fought a group of Azgeda warriors as they left the capital the next day. I tortured one of them for hours, and the only reason I stopped was because he died. I still hear it sometimes. I heard it more after Mount Weather."

"Clarke's strong. We gotta be there for her when she comes back," Murphy tells Lexa, who nods. She looks at the door as it opens, and Abby comes in.

"Clarke's back. She went straight into the tower," Abby tells them.

"Go," Murphy tells her. Lexa nods as she stands up and leaves.

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke watches as the water fills up the bathtub. She pulls her coat off and drops it on the ground. She pulls her T-shirt off as the door to the room opens. She doesn't turn her head as she hears the footsteps grow louder as they come towards the room. "Clarke," Lexa says softly.

"The bodies are burnt," Clarke says as she unbuttons her pants. "How's Murphy?"

"Resting. He looked good," Lexa says softly as she walks up to her.

"Stay back," Clarke says. "Go talk with the ambassadors and let me clean myself up," Clarke growls. Lexa nods as she turns around and leaves the room.

Murphy's P.O.V

Murphy and Raven were lying in bed when the door opened. Clarke shut the door and walked into the room. Raven stands up. "I'm going to give you guys a second," Raven says as she leaves. Clarke had changed her clothes. She now wore a blue T-shirt and a black leather jacket. She had on black pants and black shoes. She sat down and looked at him.

"What did you do?" Murphy asks Clarke softly. Clarke looks at Murphy.

"I bit out the leader's throat and watched him die. I gutted one of the men in the cafeteria. I split one's back open, and then there was the man who shot you. First, I lodged a dagger into his penis, and I kicked it in farther. After he was on the ground pleading with me to kill him. I pushed my fingers into his eye sockets. Not enough to kill him but enough to cause as much pain as possible, and then I slowly split his stomach open, and he finally died," Clarke says, her voice getting softer as she spoke.

Murphy couldn't hide the shock on his face. The grounders may have tortured him. They never did anything that brutal to him. "I didn't feel sorry. I didn't feel guilty. I didn't feel anything. Maybe a little bit of pride. It didn't feel any different than killing an animal," Clarke says.

"Why didn't you want anybody to go into Mount Weather?" Murphy asks her. "Besides for the fact that it would look like a bloodbath."

"I was worried that I might lose myself again and hurt somebody. That I might break again and hurt someone," Clarke says.

"You won't. Clarke, you were already stressed before then. Thinking I died pushed you over the edge but pushing people away won't help it. You need to forgive yourself for Mount Weather, for what you did last night," Murphy says. "Now go find your girlfriend and tell her you are okay."

Clarke smiles and nods. She hugs Murphy. "I'm glad you're not dead," Clarke says.

"I won't die until I'm good and ready," Murphy says. Clarke nods as she walks out of the medical hut. She walks back to the tower and goes up the elevator. She walks out and sees Lucy.

"Clarke," Lucy says. Clarke gives her a nod as she walks past the queen of Azgeda. She walks into her room and sees Lexa lying on the bed.

"Did you see, Murphy?" Lexa asks with her eyes closed.

"Yeah. What did the ambassadors say?" Clarke asks her.

"They didn't have much to say. They want us to fight tomorrow. I told them that would be up to you," Lexa opens her eyes and looks at Clarke.

"I want to fight," Clarke says as she sits down. "I'm sorry I was being a bitch."

"It's okay," Lexa says as she gets out of bed and walks over to her. "Are you sure you want to fight tomorrow?"

"You scared to fight me?" Clarke asks with a smile.

"Maybe a little. You did kill seven Azgeda warriors by yourself," Lexa points out.

"You could do it. This tournament means a lot to the people. It was supposed to show peace. We still have peace. We need to show that," Clarke says to Lexa, who nods. "We need to close down Mount Weather. Shut it again."

"I know," Lexa answers. "I'll talk with the ambassadors after the tournament," Clarke nods as she walks to the bed and lays down. Lexa soon joins her.

Lucy's P.O.V

Lucy sat in her room with a glass of wine. She looks at Mance as he walks in. "Seems like our plan backfired," Mance says as he sits down.

"Not completely," Lucy says. "We may have gained the trust of the others, but not Lexa and Clarke. This helped us know the amount of skill that Wanheda has. She's better than I thought. But just like everybody else. She has her demons," Lucy walks to her desk and pulls a letter out. She holds it out to Mance.

Mance grabs the letter and opens it. He begins to read. "Wanheda has become a broken mess. She cries and barely moves. What she did in Mount Weather haunts her. This is how we beat her."

"Now, she may be able to get over it, but guilt never fully be disappears," Lucy says.

"Nobody from Mount Weather is alive," Mance points out.

"There is one. A guard, my scouts, have seen him a few times. Send two groups out. One to Mount Weather. Tell them to collect every picture and name they can. Send the second to find this guard," Lucy orders Mance, who nods as he leaves.

Thanks for reading. This chapter was very focused on Murphy, Clarke, Lexa, and Raven. The next chapter will give the other characters some P.O.V's, and some of them will talk with those four about their experience and the fight between Clarke and Lexa. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
