Hello everyone, I hope you're having a wonderful time going out for sweets and hanging out with your friends. I don't celebrate Halloween or go out with friends although I wish I could one day. Anyways, here's a little one shot as a little treat from me. Once again, have a Happy Halloween!
Third Person POV
When you hear 'Goblins', you might imagine little green elf-like creatures with big pointy ears and a very wide grin and a hyena-sounding laugh. But the Goblins that stood before Blu on the kitchen counter weren't even half of the description most people give.
There were three. Little, blue-feathered, plastic ear-ed, silly grins on their small child beaks, and a few well-practiced Goblin laughs.
These adorable little birds were his kids: Carla, the oldest of the trio, Bia, the smart one and middle child, and Tiago, the youngest and prankster of the trio. Each one of them had a bag for carrying their candy they would collect.
Blu knew he was a little old to dress up like children do, but last time he checked, there was no law that prohibited him from doing so. So, he made himself a cape to look like a vampire. Jewel had also told him that they were both too old to behave like children, but after a little debate he managed to drag her into wearing a costume too.
"Dad, can we go trick-or-treating now? Mom's taking forever." complained Tiago as he sat while holding his head with his wing in boredom.
"Yeah, by the time she's done putting on her costume all the candy will be gone and we will end up with the wrappers." Carla added.
Blu chuckled. Why do women take forever to get ready? That's a question he asked himself too, but he wouldn't dare ask that to Jewel. He took one last look at the calendar hanging on the side of the wall. October 31st was marked on the sheet of paper. It was Halloween or Dia das Bruxas, different translation, same celebration.
"Don't worry, the candy won't go anywhere. You know how long your Mother takes to get ready."
"I heard that!" A sweet female voice from behind Blu made him jump back in fright. He turned around to see his wife, Jewel, dressed up as a witch with a crooked witch hat that Linda had made her, a pitch black cape covering her back like a second layer of plumage.
"Spooked ya a little bit, didn't I?" She teased her husband as she tickled him from behind his neck. A sincere smile laid out on her beak.
"Heh, yeah." he shyly admitted that his own wife scared him out of his feathers. "You look great!" He complimented her.
"Aww, thank you." She thanked him with a little kiss on the side of his beak. Blu immediately began to blush a bright red face, you could even see it through his blue plumage.
"Dad looks like a tomato!" Bia laughed out loud.
"She's right!" giggled Jewel as she tried to hide her giggles in her wings. Then everyone started to laugh, even Blu himself found this very funny.
"Alright, enough talk. Let's go get some candy!" Carla suggested with anticipation.
"Yeah, let's go." agreed Tiago as he headed to an open window.
"Right behind you!" Bia called out as she flew after Tiago.
"Okay, okay. Let's go, my little Goblins." Jewel said as she joined her children who were waiting for their parents outside.
"Hey guys, hold up! Remember birds of blue feathers- ah forget it." He gave up and flew after them. As he caught up to them, from the corner of his right eye he glanced at a window and found his former owner, Linda, disguised as Batgirl, Tulio disguised as a mummy, and Fernando disguised as a pumpkin.
He smiled as he remembered how Linda was a lonely kid without friends(except for him, of course), and now she has a family.
"Blu, c'mon! Halloween doesn't last forever!" Jewel reminded him as she continued to fly after her children.
"Coming!" He replied as he gained speed and quickly caught up to his family.
After a few minutes of flying, they finally made it to the friendly side of Rio de Janeiro. They were amazed at the decoration and festivity that brewed up in the neighborhoods.
Okay, which one do you guys want to start with?" Blu asked his kids as Jewel flew beside him.
Without hesitation, the children turned their heads to the house that has the most details than any other houses. It had a chocolate fountain with apples on a stick sitting next to it on a stool. There was also a huge prop spider near the front door. The thing about that spider was that it looked too real. At least half a dozen skeletons were spread throughout the lawn, they were sticking their bony hands out, as if it was offering you something. There was also a tree in the lawn. On the tree's branches hung little lollipops and bubble gums on strings. A glowing witch hat was on the footsteps of the house. There was even a little cemetery set.
"That one!" they all said simultaneously.
"Then that house it is." nervously giggled Jewel as they started to fly towards the house. Truth be told, she was a little afraid of the big spider. She remembered how a blackwidow spider bit the back of her head when she was a few days old after she hatched. You could say it was trauma because she could almost swear that she could feel that spider crawl on her face. It was like her own personal sleep paralysis. She wished she could move, but she couldn't.
In a quick flight that took four seconds, they made it to the front of the house.
"Man, you could say that this house is so spooky that you could smell the fear." Jewel said as she stared at the huge spider prop. She imagined it coming to life and crawling towards them.
"You scared?" Blu asked in a teasing voice. He nudged his wife with his left wing, making her snap out of her imaginary nightmare.
Blu just gave her a sincere smile, "Don't worry, I'll protect you if anything happens."
This comment made Jewel forget about her fear and instead try not to laugh. Don't take it wrong, she was grateful to have someone as caring as Blu who was willing to do anything to protect her. But Blu not being afraid of a spider is like someone who is afraid of heights and drives an airplane. It just doesn't fit, like wearing a swimsuit in Antarctica.
"Thanks, Blu." She simply said with a grin.
"Now kids, what do you say when you ring the bell?" Blu asked.
"Doçura ou travessura!" They responded cheerfully.
"Very well. And once you receive your candy, what do you say?" Jewel asked, wanting to test her childrens' manners.
"Obrigada!(Thank You!)"
Blu giggled, "Okay, you guys go and have fun. Your mother and I will be waiting for you on that tree." Blu uses one of his talons to point at the tree with the hanging candy. Luckily for Blu, and very unlucky for Jewel, it was next to the huge spider prop.
"What!? I think maybe we should-" But before Jewel could even finish her suggestion, the Goblins went to the house. Sadly, there were already kids lined up in front of the house. The goblin would have to wait for their turn.
Meanwhile, Blu and Jewel made their way over to the tree. Jewel stayed behind Blu.
"Okay, let's wait for them here." Blu suggested as he stopped on the branch that was the closest to the spider.
"Um…could we sit on that one?" Jewel said, sounding a little nervous.
"Why? We can perfectly watch the kids from here without being too close to 'baby' them." He remembered how Tiago hated to be considered a little one.
"C'mon Blu, it won't hurt them to be alone for a few minutes. Plus, don't you want to spend some quality time alone...with me?" she said this part in a flirtatious tone while flickering her eyelashes at Blu. Blu couldn't resist her charms, so eventually, he gave in.
"Okay, I guess there's no harm in doing so."
Jewel didn't show it, but she was relieved that she wouldn't have to be next to a bird-eating beast.
Blu flew away from the branch and flew with Jewel to the farthest branch away from the spider. They perched up next to one another so close that Blu's left side was touching Jewel's right side. Jewel tried her best to hide her fear from the spider, but apparently she didn't do a good Job because Blu ended up asking, "Jewel, you're afraid of the spider. Aren't you?"
Jewel looked at Jewel. She didn't want to admit that the Queen of the Jungle was afraid of something that wasn't even alive. But the look in her eyes told Blu everything he needed to know.
"I know you're scared." he simply said.
Jewel thought that he would laugh at her about her having a child-like fear. But instead, he just simply gave her a hug.
"I'm a little spooked about that thing too."
Jewel was confused. Blu didn't show a speck of fear when he mentioned the spider. She wanted to confirm if he is afraid or not about the decoration. She broke away from the hug just enough to meet Blu's chocolate brown eyes.
"You are?" Jewel asked. Blu smiled nervously and nodded his head. "Why didn't you show your fear?"
"Because I know that if I show fear, our children will have fear. I want to be the brave father the kids deserve. And I want to be brave for you, just like you always are. I mean, if I'm already terrified of a simple little spider back at the Jungle, just imagine how I feel seeing that monstrosity?"
Jewel guessed that made sense.
"So decided to act brave for us?" Jewel asked.
"Yeah, but I guess now that you know my little secret, it's unmasked."
But as soon as Blu finished his sentence, Jewel kissed him just like how she did when they were falling out of the plane. Blu was caught off guard, but he quickly was pulled into it. After 30 seconds of beaks-touching-beaks, they had to separate so that they could breathe. But Blu was still puzzled why Jewel did that. Jewel could read the confusement on his face, she just giggled.
"My brave knight in blue armour." She simply said as she laid her head on Blu's soft, fluffy chest. Blu smiled as he gently laid his head on top of hers.
"But other than that spider thing, I'm not afraid of skeletons, ghouls, and bats." Blu added.
"Hi guys!" A voice came from above them. The owner of the voice was a small bat wearing something on his head.
"Bat!" Blu cried out as he jumped from the embrace and fell down to the ground.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you." The bat called out as he glided down to Blu.
"Blu, are you okay?" Jewel asked as she flew down to where Blu laid on the ground in small pain.
"Ow," He groaned. His vision was a little blurry from the fall, but as he shook his head his sight focused on his surroundings: his wife dressed as a witch, the tree where he had fallen, and the bat. Except that this Bat wasn't really a bat. What kind of Bat wears a soda boot;e cap for a hat? Plus, the bat was yellow.
"Nico!" Blu clarified in a combination of joy of seeing his friend and annoyance that he scared him. Nico was dressed as a Bat.
"Sorry to scare you." he apologized. "Anyways, do you know where Pedro is? We were supposed to go out trick or treating too but he hasn't shown up."
"Don't you think that he would be in your hollow waiting for you?" Jewel suggested.
Nico slapped his head, "oh, silly me. I forgot that I told him to be at my hollow after eight, and I always leave early." he laughed a little bit.
"Well, I should probably get going, Halloween doesn't last forever. Bye guys, and Happy Halloween!" Then, as quick as a Bat, he flew out.
Jewel and Blu looked at eachother, then they started laughing.
"Not afraid of a Bat, huh?" Jewel chuckled as she looked at Blu.
"Well, technically, I said Bat, not friends that dress up as a Bat for Halloween." Blu corrected, still giggling.
Just then they heard wings flapping. They turned their heads and saw their Children flying up to them.
"Mom! Dad! Can we go out to more houses?" Carla begged as her siblings caught up.
"Yeah, the candy they gave us is great, but we should go out for more." Bia added.
"Yeah, can we go? Please?" Tiago asked with puppy eyes.
"Okay. Let's go, my little ones." Jewel said warmly as she looked at Blu, remembering what had just happened.
A few houses later…
"Alright, I think it's time to head back home." Blu suggested.
"Aww, c'mon dad. Just a little more?" They complained.
"I think it's time for these three birds to get some shut-eye." Jewel added, backing up Blu.
"We're not...(yawn)...tired." Tiago mumbled as he was clearly sleepy.
But really, what kid has control over parents? No one. They ended up going back to their hollows.
The Kids were so tired that they dropped their candy bags on the ground of the hollow. They didn't care and simply flew to their nest which they slept in.
Blu inspected their candy as any father should to make sure they didn't have anything dangerous.
"And check, that;'s the last of the candy." He congratulated himself on his good work as a father figure. He walked over to the nest where the kids slept in, just in time to hear Jewel's lullaby.
Moonbeams and starlight, magical twilight
The warmest ray, hear it whispering your names
Rainbows at midnight, sparkling night skies
Don't go away, stay another day
Blu smiled as he couldn't believe how lucky he was to find someone as beautiful as Jewel.
"You ready?" Jewel whispered as she walked outside of the nest with Blu by her side.
"Yes, but do you really want to do it?"
"Kinda, but as long as I'm with you, I have nothing to fear." Both of them flew out of their hollow to find somewhere where they could have more...privacy.
They flew over to Tulio and Linda's house. They entered through an open window that Linda always kept open in case Blu or Jewel or any of the kids wanted to come in. They landed on the couch. It was soft and fluffy, and the best part was that no one would be around.
It was a perfect place.
"Ready?" Jewel winked at Blu as she got comfy on the sofa.
"You know it." giggled Blu as he turned the lights off...then he clicked a button on the tv remote. The tv slowly turned on, illuminating the dark room.
"What should we watch?" Asked Jewel as Blu flew next to her. She cuddled next to blu and rested her head on his chest.
"How about IT? It's about a bunch of losers who must fight an evil clown that haunts the town of derry. Each one of them has childhood trauma."
"Hmm, reminds you of someone?" Jewel asked.
Blu just giggled as he searched up the movie on the control.
The movie started as they snuggled to each other and enjoyed the movie. This would count as their 7th date since they had met.
"I love you Jewel." Blu whispered.
"I love you too, Blu." she sighed as they watched the movie about fear, friendship, and love.
The End.
Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you liked this one shot I planned since the beginning of last week. I'll see everyone in the next publication.
