Hogwarts Graduation Day by Hufflepuff Hedwig

"...And now, normally, the headmaster would, with great pleasure, present the Graduating Class," said McGonagall. "But this class has not been normal. You have gone through a war, fought off a Dark Lord who wanted to ruin the wizarding world, and dealt with the loss of loved ones, all while trying to complete your education and navigate the already treacherous waters of adolescence. So, class of 1999 and guests, please stand and look to the sky, in a moment of silence for all we have been through, and all that has been lost."

There was a collective squeaking of chairs and rustling of garments, as two hundred people stood up and stared at the clouds. However, the clouds were not all there was to stare at. A moment later, four dragons flew directly above where everyone was gathered, and pictures began to appear directly over their heads. First, a snake, Then, a badger. Then, a Raven. Finally, a lion. And in the middle, a large, proud H appeared, the ends of the letter reaching out to unite the four animals. The dragons signed it with a flourish and flew up, up and out of sight.

"And now," said Professor McGonagall, with a tear glistening on her cheek and a smile on her face. "It is with great pleasure and pride that I present Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's graduating class of 1999!" The class erupted into a cheer, and, in Hogwarts tradition, took their caps off and threw them into the air, trying to catch them on the turrets of Hogwarts castle. Students ran to meet their parents, friends and partners, and Hermione could be seeing hugging McGonagall and sobbing. A moment later, she walked over to Harry and Ron. Before saying anything, she leaned into Ron's arms and kissed him. They continued kissing as Harry stood awkwardly next to them. A moment later, he cleared his throat.

No response. "Oi!" he yelled, getting flashbacks to the Battle of Hogwarts. Ron and Hermione broke apart, flustered.

"Sorry," Hermione said guiltily, her face breaking into a grin. She reached in to hug him, and Harry wrapped his arms around her.

"Congratulations, Hermione," he said, pulling back. "We're so proud that you actually had the drive to go back and keep doing homework for a year longer than you had to."

"Oh, you know I never minded homework," said Hermione, laughing. "But you guys should think about coming back, I mean, you're so much more qualified for jobs if you've at least graduated-"

Ron cut her off. "Hermione, I hate to brag, but I don't think either of us, especially Harry, are going to have much trouble getting jobs." They shared a look, then burst out laughing.

"So, Hermione, what do you say our goodbyes, and then go get some lunch at the Three Broomsticks? And just for today, I'll let you spend as much time as you want in Flourish and Blotts, as long as we're home before dawn..."

A/N: Like I said, it was really short, but I haven't written any fanfiction in months, so it was kind of like a warm up. Thank you so much for reading, and please, if you have a chance, let me know what you think in the reviews :)
