Chapter 1

Roland - The Mysterious Voice In The Mirror

It was a pretty typical day for everyone in Enchancia, but the same could be said for their King, as he wandered the halls of his castle trying to forget the sadness of his late wife's passing, he tried to be happy for his children on their birthday, it was hard since it also reminded him of what he lost in order to gain what he desired.

Slumping to the floor of an abandon hallway, he cried for his lost beloved, but then he stops when he started to hear a mysterious voice singing faintly, but before he could go investigate he could hear the sounds of his beloved children shouted his name, so he goes to back them and celebrates their birthday his heart heavy as he puts on a fake smile and praise.

But later that night Roland lays in bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep as he remembers hearing that faint voice coming from the abandon hallway, sighing he got up and grabs his robes and slippers he set off to go find it again.

As he get to the hallway he was overcome by a sense of longing and loneliness as he walked down it, only this time the voice was louder and more clear as he got further and further down the hallway, then he as he closer he spotted a full length mirror at the end of hall and as he approached it, the voice started evolved into the image of his dead wife.

"Lorelei..." He breath as he tried to touch her but all he felt was the cold glass that separated them as she looked both sad and wistful as they watch her life with him go by up she died.

"I've never felt this strong"

"I am invincible, how could this go wrong?

No, here, here's where we belong

I see a road ahead

I never thought I would dare to tread"

He watched as she grew from a young child into a beautiful young woman, the day they met and got married.

"Like an image passing by, my love, my life

In the mirror of your eyes, my love, my life

I can see it all so clearly

All I love so dearly

Images passing by

Like reflections of your mind, my love, my life

Are the words I try to find, my love, my life

But I know I don't possess you

With all my heart, God bless you

You will be my love and my life

You're my one and only"

At last she finally turns to stare back at him.

"I held you close to me

Felt your heartbeat and I thought I am free

Oh, yes and as one are we

In the now and beyond

Nothing and no one can break this bond"

For some reason Roland joined in singing with her, tears stream unknowingly down his face.

"Like an image passing by, my love, my life

In the mirror of your eyes, my love, my life

I can see it all so clearly

All I love so dearly

Images passing by

Like reflections of your mind, my love, my life

Are the words I try to find, my love, my life

But I know I don't possess you

With all my heart, God bless you

You are still my love and my life

Yes, I know don't possess you

With all my heart, God bless you

You are still my love and my life

You're my one and only"

On that last note the image of his wife reached out to him and actually came through the mirror and embraced him tightly, he froze for a second but then he held her close taking in her warmth and flowery smell of her perfume, but soon she pulls away and says to him as she faded.

"Live your life my love."

And it was like that she was gone, leaving Roland to stand there stunned then he took a deep breath and turns away from the mirror, not noticing that it to disappeared never to be seen again.

The next morning Roland woke up feeling lighter, more at peace as he vaguely remembers what happened last night, but the image was gone as quickly as it came and he shrugged it off as he got ready for the day and looking forward to spending the day with his beautiful and blessed children and when they asked to go to the village he obliged only because he needed to go there anyway to have his boots repaired and well you know the rest...

The End

When Roland was done tell his story Miranda was a bit smitten by it, while James was pretending to gag, both Sofia and Amber were both a bit misty eyed, while Cedric appeared to not care, while Baileywick smiled politely at him.

"That was a good story Dad did that really happened?" Sofia asked while everyone looked at him with a burning curiosity as well.

Roland smiled as Miranda snuggled up to him as he said.

"Maybe it did, maybe it didn't." He said mysteriously, chuckling when everyone groaned or pouted at his words.
