"Luck, That's all. Luck. The way he does them is never in any textbooks. It's just sometimes he gets good results."

"Yah,but if I've surpassed the textbooks already, that makes me a genius, right?"

"Certainly"

Or, the casino trick is fantastic, but how does it look to the characters witnessing it.

Rated K+ for Deja vu and save scumming, and everytime you see a (*), it indicates a save reset.

I own nothing but my own ideas, the casino trick can be found on a walkthrough on gamefaqs by vextris

"How many times has he come outside?" Karin asks, idly bored.

"I've stopped counting."

Atsuma stands there for a moment, then goes back in.

Kairn gets up to get herself some water, then follows him inside.

(*)

She shakes her head. She's still sitting, and rather thirsty. She hates it when she doses off,and dreams about something rather than actually doing it. It's been a long day, while Atsuma presumably loses all the money at gambleing. She would have thought he would have gotten bored by now. She's very bored right now. Atsuma comes outside again and stares off into space, before going back in. She follows him in.

He's actually doing very well. Supremely well. And every so often he walks around a bit, stares off into space and comes back.

She blanches when he loses over 100,000 chips, and wins them back with extra on roulette. She drinks water to calm down. He paces, stares into space, then goes back and bets directly on the red grid. He takes a major loss.

(*)

She puts her cup down, and stares as confidently bets on the red grid and wins big. He walks away and stares into space a bit before coming back.

"How are you winning so much?"

"Trial and error."

"No really, how?"

"Professor Kou never did give me the lecture on how to lie effectively. But I don't need that to be good at gambling"

"What does that mean?"

He laughs a bit. "I am not good at ladders, remembering the directions to the cafeteria, remembering I bought lunch, or that I know how to swim. But I am good at gambling. The girl I used to have a crush on reminded me of the best trick I know." He looks off pensively.

"You have a lot of memory issues"

There are so many things to question in that statement. How is someone not good at ladders? Who forgets they know swimming? Should Karin be worried about his sense of directions? He can lead them to golems with uncanny accuracy, but not his cafeteria!

For all his bragging, he loses all of the chips he bet on black.

(*)

That must have been one heck of a tip. He bets on red,and wins big again.

Somehow she asks him none of the questions she meant to. "The girl you used to have a crush on?"

"Saori. I never got the closure of confessing. She became a fangirl for my best friend… I think."

"Are you sure you are not a fanboy for your best friend?"

"He has one of those too. He makes fantastic lunches. Extra special Makoto love lunches. I can't make cheesecake like Makoto could. Mmm raspberry pecan chocolate chip cheesecake. Nothing better."

He wins again, and this is ridiculous. She hasn't seen him lose since he started betting on the grid colours.

"So what are you going to do with all those chips?"

"I'm going to buy really awesome golems, and abilities, and of course the stats for those abilities?"

"What?"

"Umm, well I'm not really good at explaining it. I would usually fail written tests, and ace the practicals… unless they involved directions. But I am really good at Golems."

"Really?"

"I can also eat fifty slices of pizza in the time it takes you to blink"

"WHAT!"

"And I think my right arm might have something to do with it."

"Your arm gives you the speed to devour pizza like a black hole!"

"No! Well, maybe. My arm can drain magic. It really freaks people out. But I think it also allows me to assign stats to people in combat. Well out of it."

"How- what does that mean!"

"Toya tried to explain it once. But I don't really remember what he said?"

"Of course. So you are spending all this time in the casino, to get golem gem stat modifiers?"

"Not just Golems. But yes. I plan to get ALL the Golems, and create an army to protect my home after we rebuild it."

The idea of Atsuma in charge of a Golem army is frightening. Atsuma wins all the reds again. He moves and does his space out thing, then proceeds to lose the next red bet.

(*)

He wins yet again, and Karin goes to leave the casino, and realizes that she has more questions than she walked in with, and didn't really get a lot of answers.

Atsuma bets on black and wins it, and smiles, and does some kind of fidget dance. He then tanks the next bet.

(*)

Karin shakes her head at the ridiculousness of it, goes to leave the casino, and realises that she has more questions than she walked in with, and didn't really get a lot of answers.

Would she get any good answers asking him?

Not if the last conversation was any indication. Though he did seem more aware then usual. Maybe gambling is one of the few times he uses his brain properly? That and fighting.

She walks back to Raigar.

"He's really good at gambling, oddly enough."

Raigar stares at her.

"Really really good"

"So fortune does favor fools."

She laughs.

"Then what does that make us?"

"Fourtunate."

(*)

"Then does that make us fortunate?" She blinks. That had not been what she intended to say

"As good a reason to continue traveling with a fool as any."

She never tells him later, for fear he will get an inflated ego,but Marlin Glaive and APO are really well built Golems. He does have a talent there, despite being unable to explain what he is doing.

Maybe it's a little OC, but I am not sure I could live up to the dialogue in the game, which I found quite funny. Cota may be fantastic, but who didn't burst into laughter when Saori explained saving to him? I also can not believe that the same guy who voices Akihiko voices Makoto. Liam O'Brian sure is versatile.

*oh no. Why in the world did I save after the destruction of my city, while I am in jail!

(Or saving can't solve everything but it sure can help you save the world)
