Forward: when a representative from Hunter's life Magazine traveled all the way to Seliana to ask if i would like to have my own section in there magazine to discuss what ever i wanted i didn't know what to do, but after talking it over with my friend and handler Sasha, i have decided to share my own Hunter's Notes with you all. Sasha here, just jumping in to say that it was my idea to do these in alphabetical order. I've never seen some of these so I'm excited for this!

Abyssal Lagiacrus: it feels weird to start this of with a monster I've never seen but here you go.
A rare species of Lagiacrus known only from an ancient scroll:
From the abyss' darkest cave
Comes the master of the wave
Consumer of the world entire
Devil of the sea most dire
Fear it as you fear the grave.
Personally i don't know if this subspecies is even real. I've heard the stories from the Seafolk fishermen, but the tale of a massive elder dragon level lagi has been recognized by the Guild as being plausible. Add the scattered eye witnesses and a pitch black scale that machs the shape of a normal Lagiacrus scale i once found and the legend gains a fair bit of credence.
.
Acidic Glavenus:A subspecies of Glavenus found in the Rotten Vale. A corrosive fluid has crystallized on its tail, spraying acid with each swing.
the rich Bio-energy of the new world allows for species to develop subspecies extremely quickly. The Acidic Glavenus is a fine example of this, having developed a gland that produces a rapidly crystalizing acidic compound located within it's tail-blade. The tail-blade itself has also adapted, becoming smaller and faster, to fit the cramped caverns of the rotten vale.
.
Agnaktor:Also known as fire-pike wyverns, Agnaktor use their tough beaks and great strength to burrow through rock, and sometimes even cave ceilings. Encrusted with hardened lava that can soften from the heat when they spit magma or burrow.
Clack Clack watch, your back. Agnaktor is one of my favorite monsters, a fast and agile leviathan that can melt through rock and stone in moments and swims through lava and magma with impunity. Agnaktor was the first monster i ever encountered that was capable of such feats and i will always fondly remember facing it down in the volcanic belt.
.
Ahtal-Ka:The golden empress of praying mantises resides in a huge, ruined castle. She flattens towns and fortresses, and uses the wreckage to build her lair ever larger. It's rumored that the Empress's Throne, as it is known, is strewn with golden cocoons and webbing, which contain stolen treasures.
one of many monsters that dwell in the old world that i would have loved to face before leaving for the new world, alas it was not to be. however there is a fellow A-Lister who has gone up against the "Mech Mantis" as they called it. now that i am preparing to return to the old world perhaps i will get the chance to face Ahtal-Ka one day.
.
Akantor:A wyvern truly wrapped in mystery. Known to some as the black god and to others as the tyrant of fire, this large and brutal creature is known to the Guild simply as Akantor...
This monster was one of the last i faced before my journey to the new world began. Although not an elder dragon it is one of, if not the most powerful monsters i have ever faced. a massive beast with deceptive speed and overwhelming strength, it is one of very few monsters i hope to never have to face again.
.
Altaroth:Insects that widely inhabit many areas. Noted for absorbing fruit, mushrooms and honey, then carrying them back to their nest. Materials can thus be collected from their swollen abdomens, whose color is related to what is being carried.
Annoying little buggers. any time you try to gather mushrooms in a regain they inhabit be ready to have to deal with them. Still better than Hornetaurs though
.
Amatsu:A legendary elder dragon spotted on Sacred Pinnacle. An avatar of storms in the folklore of Yukumo Village, Amatsu's appearance is accompanied by furious cyclones and horrific storms. Its fearsome power is said to outscale that of natural disasters.
This monster. This monster is one I long to face more than any other. Amatsumagatsuchi. The dragon of the storm who commands the very skies themselves.
.
Anjanath:The Anjanath patrols the Ancient Forest looking for its favorite meal, Aptonoth. This belligerent monster will attack anything without the slightest provocation.
A Classical brute Wyvern with the added kick of fire. not much more to say really.
.
Anteka:Herbivores that live in cold climates. Generally docile, though they have been known to attack when threatened. Their high-quality pelts have many uses, and their antlers are highly prized by the guild. Simply stun the creatures to easily harvest one.
These guys are pretty much just snow Kelbi, not that that's a bad thing.
.
Apceros:Hunted for their meat, which is buried under a thick, armored hide. Aggressive compared to the Aptonoth, hunting them can be a challenge. Apceros eggs are a valuable guild commodity.
A more armored Aptonoth with a meat that is surprisingly juicy and tender.
.
Aptonoth:Relatively docile herbivores with characteristic crest plates. They form herds and raise young communally, and have been used as pack animals for generations; their meat is tasty and nutritious. Very cautious around large monsters.
The first monster i ever hunted after becoming a official monster hunter. the Chef's son gave me a BBQ split right after.
.
Ashen Lao-Shan Lung:A giant dragon few have seen and lived to tell the tale. When on the rampage it wreaks havoc on all in its path. The guild has built a fortress to repel the beast, but will it hold?
The second mountain class alder dragon i ever faced, Ashen Lao-Shan Lung. Massive. Strong. Uncaring. Despite everything the only time the mighty Elder reacted was when the fortress's dragonator diverted it's ceaseless march.
.
Astalos:Known as the "Thunder Wyvern," Astalos can charge itself with electricity from the furious movements of its wings, tail and crest. In its charged state, the membrane in its wings take on a beautiful glow that only barely offsets the terrible nature of this monster
One of many monsters that dwell in the old world that i would have liked to challenge before leaving for the new world. I've heard from fellow A-Listers that they are as psychotic as a yian garua.
.
Azure Rathalos:An azure-colored subspecies of Rathalos. More mobile than their standard cousin, they locate prey from the air and quickly swoop in for the kill. Once these master hunters select a target, there is little hope of escape.
It's just a blue Rathalos that's a little faster and flies even more, bring flash-bombs.
.
Alright with that out of the way here is the first "side note". you're really calling it that pard. Yes i am!
.
.
Side Note: The A-list is solely composed of a special kind of monster hunter that can harness there own Bio-energy and sense the Bio-energy of other things. this manifests itself in different ways depending on the hunter. for instance I "see" Bio-energy as a form of aura with different shapes and colors meaning different things. When i "see" a red aura that means a increase of raw power.
but other hunters sense this differently, some "hear" music like sounds, others "smell" it etc etc. only about 5-10% of hunters have this ability. and only half can use there own Bio-energy to enhance there weapons. one fourth can use a even more advanced version of this called Hunter's Arts.
.
.
Q&A: this is the first installment of these so there aren't any questions yet, but if you have any questions this is where they'll be. just send a letter in to hunter's life.
