The Way We Feel.
5th year:
Lily Evans sat down for breakfast in the dining hall. She rubbed her eyes and yawned, filling her cup with tea. There was thump on the bench and she turned to the newcomer, expecting it to be Marlene and Dorcas. It wasn't.
"Potter," She said, rolling her eyes.
She glared at him and turned away, going back to her bacon and eggs.
"Will you go out with me, oh my darling Lily-flower?" He said, stealing her toast.
"No Potter. Leave me alone. And give me back my toast," Lily replied angrily.
"Why won't you go out with me? Just one date, I promise. I won't bug you anymore after that!" He said, pouting.
"NO, Potter. Just fuck off, I'm gay alright. I will never like you," Lily shouted, stomping from the great hall.
She sighed. That wasn't how she wanted to come out to everyone, but Potter was so annoying and she had finally snapped. She walked all the way to the library and picked up a book, sitting by the window. She sighed, and began reading. Contrary to popular belief, she didn't just read textbooks. She loved reading her muggle fiction and the one she was reading at the moment was particularly interesting. It was called-
"Song of Achilles? Never heard of that before. That's not a textbook is it, Evans?" It was Potter again.
"Look, Potter, leave me alone. I don't like you that way and I will not date you. Get that into your thick skull!" She whispered angrily.
"Actually, Evans, I was coming to apologise. I didn't realize you were gay and I wouldn't have bugged you so much if I had. I also wanted to apologize for making you shout that to the entire dining hall. I'll leave now," He stated quietly, smiling at her.
As he got up, she grabbed his hand.
"Look, Potter, I think you would be a good friend to have. Only a friend though," She said.
"Sure, but if were gonna be friends, you gotta call me James," He replied.
"Alright, but only if you call me Lily. And none of that stupid Lily-flower thing. Got it?" She grinned slightly, "Now leave me alone, I am reading!"
"Alright. Bye Ev-Lily. Sorry for bugging you so much all these years."
With that, James Potter left the library. Lily settled back down onto the window seat and read some more of her book. After half an hour she picked up her stuff and raced off to Ancient Runes, her mind at ease.
Happy 21st
Lily Evans sat up, groaning. She rubbed her eyes and yawned, pushing off the covers and grabbing her hairbrush. She dragged the brush through the wild curls of her red hair rubbed at her emerald eyes even more. She remembered suddenly that it was her birthday and grinned, helping herself to the stash of chocolate she kept in her wardrobe. She walked out of her bedroom, smiling slightly. Her flat was small, but she loved it. The sitting room had wall to wall bookshelves and she grinned, picking up 'House Of Earth and Blood' off the floor and putting it back on the bookshelf. She walked into the small kitchen and made herself a cup of earl grey tea, pouring herself some Frosted Shreddies at the same time. She walked back into the sitting room turning on the TV and going onto BBC iPlayer. She watched an episode of Ghosts while she ate her cereal and drank her tea. Then she shoved everything into the dishwasher and had a shower, dressing quickly. She picked up her phone and checked her messages. Apparently she had 14 missed calls from Marlene. Vaguely wondering what she wanted, she called her back, while putting the dishwasher on.
"Hey Lily, have you heard the news?" Marlene said as soon as she picked up.
"No, I only just woke up," Lily replied, stifling another yawn.
"Oh. Okay, so you know that crazy bitch who was a couple of years above us at Hogwarts? she was in Slytherin," Marlene sounded nervous.
"Which one? I seem to remember there were several," Lily yawned again, picking up "A court of Thorns and Roses off the coffee table and putting it back onto her bookshelf.
"The one with the first name D. Errr, Deirdre, Dolly, no Dolores. Yes, Dolores Umbridge," Marlene voice was quite muffled but she sounded a bit relieved.
"Oh, that one. What about her. If you called me 14 times just to gossip, I won't be happy Marlene," Lily answered, pulling her shoes on for work.
"I promise it is nothing to do with gossiping. She attacked Sirius and Remus yesterday, they're fine, although Remus is in Mungo's. Anyway, she's in Azkaban now, for using an unforgivable curse...Lily, are you still there?" Marlene sounded concerned.
"Yes, I was just shocked. Can we see them?" Asked lily.
"Yes, we're all here. Hurry up though," Marlene hung up.
Lily quickly called her work and told them she was taking the day off. Then she ran out of her flat, turning into an alley nearby. She apparated to Mungo's quickly. She had to tell everyone something anyway, and it would be easier to say when they were all together. She ran into the waiting and joined everyone. They crowded into the room where Remus and Sirius where. There was a lot of worried talking and then everyone congratulating Lily on turning 21. After five minutes, the noise died, and Lily cleared her throat.
"I'm going to America to spend some time with my Uncle Aaron. I'm leaving tomorrow. I was gonna text everyone later but since we're all here I'm telling you now. James, Regulus, I will obviously come back for your wedding, don't worry. Marlene, Dorcas, you are my best friends in the whole world and nothing will ever change that," Lily said, a small smile etched on her face.
There was another hubbub of conversation and then a nurse came in and told them that visiting hours were over. Lily said goodbye to everyone and told them to come and see her in Quantico, where her Uncle Aaron lived and worked.
When Lily got home, she sighed and began the mammoth task of packing up her flat. Soon, all her book where in her trunk. She had obviously added an undetectable extension charm and a featherlight charm. When everything was packed up she stared around the empty flat that had been her home since she left Hogwarts. It was strange to see it so barren and deserted. She went out the front door and outside back to the alley, where she apparated to the airport. She stayed at a hotel at the airport for the night and, the next morning, she boarded the plane to Quantico, Virginia.
A New Home.
Penelope Garcia stood in the bustling airport. The team had been called out on a case, and Hotch had asked her to pick up his niece who was flying in from England. He had given her a picture, and Penelope was looking around. Suddenly she spotted a flash of deep red hair. There was a young woman standing there, her head turning to and fro, obviously looking for someone. Penelope guessed this was Lily Evans and walked up to her.
Lily turned when someone tapped her on the shoulder. There was a woman there, who looked a similar age to Lily. she had blonde hair and she was wearing a brightly coloured dress, along with high heels and bright glasses. She grinned at Lily.
"Are you lily Evans. If so, your uncle was called away on a case and he wanted me to pick you up. We'll be going back to Quantico and your going to have to hang out with me until the team get's back. But we'll have fun. Hotch told me to tell you that the case will probably be finished in the next day or two," The strange women.
"Yes, I am Lily Evans. Who are you?" Lily asked, suspiciously.
"Oh, yes. My name is Penelope Garcia, but you can call me Penny, or Garcia. Whichever you prefer," The women, Penny, said.
Lily recognized her, because her uncle had told her about Garcia, the tech analyst for his team.
"Okay, Penny. Do you drive?" Lily asked, smiling at the blonde.
"Why of course, little red. Come with me to my fabulous automobile of wonder," Penny said, grinning widely.
"Little red?" Lily asked in disbelief, laughing slightly.
"It's my new nickname for you. I hope you like. Here's my car by the way, get in. I'll put your case in the boot for you," Garcia replied, still grinning.
"Right, okay. How long does it take to get to the FBI building?" Lily asked.
"Not long, little red. When we get there you can come sit in my office with me. We can get some snacks as well," Penny replied.
They finally pulled up at in the car park of the FBI building. Lily finished eating a giant marshmallow and hopped out the car. For some reason Penny kept giant marshmallows in her car, but Lily wasn't complaining. They were very tasty. Penny led her into the FBI building and they took the lift up to the sixth floor. Penny walked down the corridor for a bit and then opened a door. There was a lot of technical equipment that Lily didn't know the name of, but there were also many thing like sparkly pens, notebooks, squishies, cuddlies and the like. Lily smiled. Penny sat down in a spinney chair and gestured for Lily to do the same. Just as Penny opened her mouth to say something, the phone rang. Penny answered it.
"Hey. babygirl, how are you doing?" Came a male voice on the other end of the phone.
"Garcia, have you picked up Lily yet?" A sterner voice cut through the conversation Penny had been having.
Lily smiled when she heard her Uncle.
"Yes sir, little red is right here with me," Garcia replied.
"Hey Uncle Aaron, how are you?" Lily asked.
"Hello Lily, I'm fine. How are you?" Hotch asked.
"I'm good. Guess what, Uncle Aaron, Penny had giant marshmallows in her car and she let me eat some," Lily said enthusiastically.
"That's nice. Garcia-"
Hotch and the rest of the team conversed with Penny about the case, and Lily amused herself by texting her friends.
(Marly=Marlene, Bambi=James,Dorky=Dorcas,Snuffle=Sirius, Remmy boy=Remus)
The Bestiesssssssss!
Marly: Hey Lils, Hows America.
Lily-Flower: Amazing.
Reggie: glad your having fun.
Bambi: We're gonna take a portkey to see ya at some point.
Lily-Flower: Not yet. Need to settle in first.
Dorky: OKay Lils, have fun.
Snuffles: We all know ya miss me, Evans. You won't have as much fun without us there.
Remmy boy: Stop being big-headed Snuffles
Snuffles: I am wounded, Moony.
Lily-Flower: Shut up, idiots.
Marly: What are you doing rn?
Lily-Flower: I am waiting for waiting for my uncle to finish a case.
Bambi: Sounds boring
Lily-Flower: Just because you have no attention span, James, doesn't mean others do.
Dorky: Jamie, ur mother wants to talk to you
Bambi: Why?
Dorky: I may or may not have told her about the prank you played on Dumbledore last week...
Bambi: DORCAS MEADOWES, I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!
Lily-Flower: How did you even get into Hogwarts, let alone Dumbledore's office!
"Little red, your uncle is going to be back by this evening." Penny interrupted her texting, and Lily looked up.
"Thanks Penny," Lily replied.
The Record Player.
Lily was sitting with Penny. They were talking about Taylor Swift when there was a knock on the door. Penny opened the door and Lily saw Hotch. She got up and gave him a hug immediately.
"Hi Uncle Aaron, how are you? How's Jack? Are you alright? Can I meet the rest of the team?" Lily fired question at Hotch rapidly, grinning.
"Hi Lils. I am fine, Jack is looking forward to seeing you, yes I am alright and you can meet the rest of the team. They are in the bullpen. Come on," Hotch answered smiling.
They walked into the BAU bullpen. Lily was introduced to the rest of the BAU team and they all got along instantly. Eventually, Hotch excused them and they left. Hotch new all about magic, after being there when Lily had a fit of accidental magic. When they got to his house, Lily was immediately bowled over by her cousin.
"Hey Lilsy, guess what. I did magic! I'm like you now! It's so cool!" Jack said, his eyes shining with happiness.
"That's great, Jack. I haven't seen you for ages! How are you feeling?" Lily asked.
"I'm great. Can I show her the room yet, Dad?" Jack asked, his eyes shining with excitement.
"Sure, Jack," Hotch said, "We put some stuff in the spare room for you. Obviously, you can make it bigger and change things with your magic, but we wanted to give you some things anyway."
"So, where is it then, Jack?" Lily said curiously.
Jack led her up the stars and in front of a door. On it, there was Lily and an L. Lily grinned happily. She may be 21, but she did love things like this. She opened the door and grinned. Three of the walls had large bookshelves and there was a large Queen sized bed by the other wall, as well as a desk, vanity and wardrobe, along with a chest of drawers. On top of the chest of drawers was a record player, with some records on top of it.
"You always used to say you wanted a record player so I decided to get you one. I hope you like Queen and ABBA, cause that's all we've got," Hotch said, smiling.
Lily thanked him, and he left to let her set up her room. Jack walked up to the record player and put a record in. Bohemian Rhapsody started playing quietly and Lily grinned. She opened her suitcase and then flicked her wand. The entire contents of the suitcase zoomed out and began to arrange themselves around the room, which she had expanded magically. Jack sat on her bad and stared in awe. She grinned at him, and then walked to one of the bookshelves, picking up a book and giving it to him.
"Tales of Beedle the Bard," Jack read out loud.
"It's a wizarding children's book. I saw it in Flourish and Blotts and bought it for you," Lily said, joy lighting up her emerald eyes.
"It's so cool! I'm gonna go read it now. Bye, Lilsy," Jack was nearly shouting in excitement.
He ran out of the room quickly, the door slamming shut loudly behind him. Lily threw herself onto the bed, sighing. She picked up her phone.
The Bestiesssssssss!
Lily-Flower: I think I'm in love...
Dorky: Wait, Lils, what?
Marly: Seriously. When can we meet her?
Lily-Flower: Her names Penny. She works with uncle Aaron. She's so bright and sparkly.
Reggie: Are you serious?
Snuffles: No, I am
Bambi: For once, Sirius, that isn't funny. Lils, spill the details.
Lily-Flower: She is so kind and pretty and nice and she gave me Giant Marshmallows. She had them in her car.
Remmy Boy: Wow. Giant Marshmallows?
Snuffles: In her car?
Marly: Marry her. Now.
Dorky: Marlene! But seriously Lily, at least date her.
Reggie: Why does everyone car about the marshmallows?
Dorky: Giant Marshmallows are life.
Remmy Boy: James, educate your fiancée.
Lily laughed at the rapid conversation unfolding on her screen. Her Uncle Aaron called her down for supper and she said bye to everyone.
The Escape.
Lily had been in America for a week, and she was loving it. She woke up with a start, to the shrill ringing of her phone. She sighed and looked at the caller I.D. It was Marlene. She ignored it, focusing instead on showering and getting dressed. She ran downstairs, walking into the kitchen where she found her cousin, sitting at the table and sipping on orange juice. She grinned and snuck up behind him, tapping him on the shoulder. He jumped and turned around, narrowing his eyes.
"Hey, you scared me!" Jack said indignantly.
"Whoops," Lily feigned innocence, grinning at her cousin.
She put the kettle on, making herself her daily cup of earl grey tea, and then put some toast in the toaster. She took the butter out of the fridge, as well as the raspberry jam. She sat down once everything was ready.
"Still a creature of habit, I see," came a voice behind her.
She jumped and spun around, raising her wand.
"Hey, quit pointing that thing at me," the person said.
"MARLENE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Lily shouted angrily, glaring at her friend.
"Wel;, oh Lily Flower, we-I wanted to come and see you bec-"Marlene started.
"You said we, the others are here. Where are they?" Lily asked.
There was a movement in the corner of her eye and then everyone else appeared. James stuffed the invisibility cloak bag into his bag.
"Well done Marly, you dumped us all in it," Sirius complained.
There were quick footsteps outside and then Hotch came running in.
"Lily, are you alright? You shouted...who are all these people?" Hotch asked, confused.
"These are my friends from England. They decided it would be a good idea to barge in at 7 o'clock in the morning at scare the living daylights out of me," Lily said, glaring fiercely at Marlene.
"Actually we had some news," Dorcas said.
"Yeah, Marly called but you didn't answer so we came here to see you," Regulus added, an amused look in his eyes.
"Well it had better be bloody important then, hadn't it," Lily said.
Jack had run off before Marlene had arrived and came skidding into the kitchen holding a toy car.
"It is important, Lils, but we're gonna have to tell you without Jack present. Your Uncle can be there though, he's in the FBI, right?" Remus said, a serious expression on his face.
"Okay. Jack, do you want to go play in the garden for a bit?" Lily asked, and Jack nodded eagerly, running off.
"What is it that is so important you have to break into my house at the crack of dawn and make me send off my cousin," Lily asked, rolling her eyes.
"So you know when Umbridge got locked in Azkaban. Well, she escaped with the help of some rather prominent pureblood families. She left a writing on the wall of her cell, for some reason, and apparently she wants revenge on us because of the massive prank we pulled on everyone at school in Seventh year. She's crazy, but apparently she's been spotted in America with some of these people. Anyway, Mr. Hotchner, you'll be getting a call in a minute because it is being treated as a terrorism threat and they as many people as possible looking for them and they also want you to keep us with you in the FBI building for protection," James replied, his face unusually serious, "And there is more. Petey joined them. That's why he hasn't been answering any texts."
Lily's shocked silence was broken by Hotch's phone ringing loudly. He turned away, and put the phone to his ear. There was a tense silence, broken only by Hotch's occasional confirmation of whatever the person on the other end was saying. Jack ran into the room quietly and snuggled into Lily's side, clutching a Teddy Bear to his chest. Hotch put his phone down and motioned for them all to come with him.
"You're all coming with me, I hope you can all fit into the car," Hotch said.
Dorcas magically enlarged the inside so they could all fit and they headed to the BAU.
FBI Sleepover.
Lily was sitting in her Uncle's office, listening to music. Marlene was next to her with Dorcas, both of them fast asleep. It was midnight and Lily couldn't sleep. Her brain was occupied with thoughts of Penny. She sighed quietly, and brushed her fiery curls out of her freckled face. She smiled at her sleeping friends, and quietly got up. The boys were sleeping in Rossi's office, and Hotch and Jack were in the meeting room. Lily's bare feet pattered against the floor as she walked o the kitchen, planning on making herself a cup of tea and something to eat. She sat down at the table with a bowl of cheap porridge and sighed. She jumped when she heard footsteps behind her. She spun around, and then sighed in relief.
"You should be at home, it's midnight," Lily said, worriedly.
"I couldn't sleep anyway so I decided to put some more effort into finding this Dolores person. I just came here to get some coffee. What are you doing up?" Penny asked.
"I couldn't sleep either," Lily replied, ducking her head to hide her red cheeks.
"Nightmares?" Penny asked sympathetically.
"Sure," Lily lied, taking another sip of her tea.
"Okay, you are definitely lying. What's keeping you up?" Penny asked, sitting next to Lily and smiling at her.
"How do you know I'm lying?" Lily asked defensively.
"I work with profilers remember," Penny replied, grinning.
Lily sighed in defeat. She really wasn't sure what to say and she thankful to hear footsteps.
"Hello, ladies. Watcha doin'? Havin' a secret midnight date, are we?" It was James.
Lily sighed in annoyance.
"Fuck off, Bambi," She replied, glaring at him.
"Jeez Lily-flower, I was only askin', no need to bite my head off" James said, still grinning.
Lily groaned and rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, I only came here cause I heard voices. Hello, Penelope, How ya doin'?" James asked, pushing his glasses up his nose again.
"Fine, thanks, Jamesy boy," Penny replied, grinning mischievously.
"Jamesy boy, seriously. Ha, I am never going to stop calling you that now," Regulus said, appearing behind James.
"Oy, Regulus, don't you dare. Cause if you do, I'll call you Starburst," James replied, grinning wickedly at his fiancée.
Lily rolled her eyes at them.
"Anyway, what are you doing Lils. Going on a secret date with your one true love?" Regulus said, a twinkle in his eyes.
Lily stood up and hit him on the shoulder.
"Shut up, you prat. No, we are not going on a date," Lily said furiously.
Regulus winked at her, then he left, James following him.
"That's not the way to Rossi's office," Lily called out.
"We know," James called over his shoulder, smirking.
Lily sighed and turned back to Penny. She smiled and went back to her porridge, trying to ignore the awkward silence. She looked up and saw Penelope watching her. She smiled slightly, and then they both leaned in.
"Oy, Evans, are you seriously tellin' us that this isn't a date?" James was back.
She glared at him even more fiercely.
"Fuck off Potter, why would you do that?" Lily hissed, her eyes narrowed in anger.
"Sorry Evans," James said, running back to Rossi's office.
"Sorry, Lils," Regulus said, following him back to the office.
Lily turned back to Penelope, who was still watching her. They both leaned in, and finally in a moment of peace, managed to actually kiss each other. Lily grinned, happy that James had gone and couldn't disturb them.
She's Back.
It had been a week since they had arrived at the BAU, and since Penny had kissed her. Lily hoped they would catch Umbridge soon. She missed her books, her record player and her freedom. She hadn't left the FBI building at all because of the wards it had all around it and she was tired. She couldn't wait to go on a proper date with Penny, instead of just meeting occasionally in the kitchen to chat. She sighed and got up, accidently waking Marlene.
"What are you doing?" Marlene asked,"Sneaking off to see Penny again?"
Lily blushed, and shook her head tiredly.
"I miss going outside," Lily replied in a quiet voice.
"Same," Replied Dorcas, which made Lly and Marlene jump.
"I didn't not you were awake, Cas," Lily said.
"I've been awake for ages," Dorcas grinned at them.
They sat in silence for a minute, until Marlene suddenly jumped up.
"I've got it!"She stated excitedly.
"Got what," Dorcas questioned.
"Let's go outside! It's five o'clock in the morning, I doubt Umbitch will be around," Marlene whisper shouted.
"NO, definitely not. We're not allowed outside," Dorcas replied angrily.
"Why do we wanna go outside?" Asked James, strolling in with Sirius behind him.
"We don't," replied Dorcas.
"Yes, we do. Cas, it's a foolproof plan. Umbitch won't be outside at this time of night, will she?" Lily was grinning and positively vibrating with excitement.
"Fine, but if something bad happens, don't come crying to me!" Dorcas said, glaring slightly.
The group made their way to Rossi's office to wake the rest of the boys, and, after a quiet argument, everyone was on their way downstairs. They reached the doors and walked through, grinning. Regulus had decided to stay behind because he was tired, but everyone else had come. Dorcas had eventually decided to join them, saying they needed a chaperone. They all sat down on a small stretch of grass and talked mindlessly. They had been there for five minutes when they heard the familiar cracks of apparition all around them. Lily looked up, and was astonished to see so many figures surrounding them, with Umbridge in the center.
"I finally managed to get some of you alone. Peter knew you would get bored cooped up inside, so I put up wards to tell me if anyone with your magical signatures," Umbridge said, grinning victoriously.
"Congrats, you did it. You have us cornered. It's not like we can't fight you," Marlene replied, rolling her eyes.
"That may be, but we outnumber you," Umbridge said.
Suddenly, someone ran through the glass doors of the BAU building.
"Hello, cousin. Fancy seeing you here," Bellatrix said with an insane chuckle,"Now I can kill both of you at once."
"Hello Bella. Still as insane as ever, I see," Regulus greeted, rolling his eyes,"Anyway, I called the Aurors and they should be here about...now."
There were several more cracks of apparition, and Lily grinned.
"Have fun rottin' in jail, Umbitch!" James shouted, grinning cheekily.
Umbridge sent a spell at him and he rolled out of the way, picking up his wand. His face had turned serious, and he sent a spell back. Soon, everyone was fighting each other. The Aurors managed to capture everyone, other than Bellatrix and Umbridge. A gun shot rang out, and Bellatrix dropped to the ground. Another gunshot rang out, and Umbridge cried out in pain, falling as well. It was Hotch, and, strangely, Penny. She stared in shock at Umbridge, whom she had shot in the leg.
"I shot her, why did I shoot her? What did I do? What did I do? Oh my gosh I shot her!" Penny was muttering to herself.
Lily walked up to her and wrapped her arms around Penny's waist. She kissed her on the cheek and smiled.
"You shot her because she was attacking us. She almost got me, and she probably would have if you hadn't shot her. So thanks, Penny," Lily said, smiling at her girlfriend.
Right, okay, right. Yes, I was helpful. Thanks, Little Red," Penny said, smiling as well.
Lily looked around and noticed her uncle staring in confusion. She blushed, but grinned at him. The aurors cleaned up bullet wounds and healed them, once they had got their prisoners in special magic manacles, of course. Lily smiled as she realised she didn't have to live at the BAU anymore. She had freedom. She could go on dates with Penny and see her friends. They had all decided to move to America with her, although Lily didn't know why. All of them, including Lily, had bought flats in the same building, and Lily had a new job in an Apothecary in the Wizarding side of Quantico. Although she would no longer be living with her uncle, she knew she would still see him and Jack a lot, especially as she was dating one of his coworkers. He didn't know that. but she knew he would figure it out. He was a profiler after all. Lily walked over to her friends, hugging them all. She grinned happily. She had dragged Penny with her, and she was joking with the boys. Lily felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around. Hotch gestures for her to come with him for a minute and she did. She knew he had figured it out.
Epilogue.
Five years later:
Lily grinned and sat up in bed, her hand unconsciously reaching to Penny's side. It was empty and Lily frowned, until she smelt the delicious foody scent wafting through the closed door. She hopped out of bed, tying her hair up quickly into a simple ponytail and grabbing her dressing gown. She walked outside the bedroom into the kitchen, to see her girlfriend cooking. She grinned and wrapped her arms around Penny's waist.
"Morning, little red," Penny said, turning around and giving Lily a proper hug.
Lily smiled at her and yawned, looking around the magically enlarged flat and then back to her girlfriend. Penny had obviously been told after Umbridge had been captured, and she loved magic.
"Morning, Pen-Pen. What are you cooking?" Lily asked.
"I was cooking you a full English breakfast. I'm even making tea," Penny replied, watching her girlfriend lovingly.
She tucked some of Lily red hair behind her ear, as it had already come loose from the ponytail.
"And to what do I owe the pleasure of this splendid meal?" Lily asked, grinning.
"You'll see," was all Penny said.
After they had eaten, they began talking.
"You still haven't told my the reason you made that amazing breakfast," Lily said, eyeing her girlfriend curiously.
"Well, I have a question," Penny said, nervously.
"Gon on then, shoot," Lily said after five minutes of silence.
"Okay, will you marry me?" Penny asked in a rush.
Lily stared at her for a second, then the ring, and then back to her girlfriend. She nodded silently, shocked but so very happy. Penny slid the ring onto her finger and they kissed.
Lily stood in the wedding reception with Penny, grinning. She couldn't believe they were finally married.
"Would you like to dance, oh my dear darling wife?" Lily asked, grinning at Penny.
"Oh, of course, my dearest, most darling wife," Penny replied, smiling back at Lily.
The two women lived life to the fullest. They adopted twins, calling them Thomas and Tammi. They grew old together, never swaying from their love. They still went out with their friends or even by themselves, when they were old and grey. They were the happiest of families and friendship groups. They lived happily until Penny died in her sleep at the grand age of 95. Lily was distraught, but she followed peacefully a year later. They lived happily on in heaven, reuniting with friends and staying forever in their twenty year old bodies, the way they looked when they first met. It was a peaceful happy life, and a peaceful happy death. They would never, ever stop loving each other. In death or in life, it didn't matter.
The End!
