"But you can hold my hand like you needed. Keep my soul like you wanted. Hold my hand. Just stop wasting it all."

NINE MONTHS LATER

Third Person

A slight breeze in the night and a shadow emerges at the balcony of the penthouse of LUX.

When Amenadiel had visited Lucifer in Hell, informing, and congratulating him of becoming a father, that night, Lucifer couldn't sleep and couldn't focus. He knew he needed to see her. To see them again.

And so now, the Devil, is here, standing and eyeing his old rooms as the lights are off. Until the Angel suddenly tucks his wings back and his lips tug upwards when he sees a light looming from his old bedroom with a welcoming warm glow.

Lucifer, with familiar feeling, his dark eyes turn soft as he makes his way through the space of the penthouse until he stops his movement right at the edge of the stairs, not breathing. His gaze lands on Chloe—his love, his heart, his soul, his home, his Detective—who's sound asleep under the covers with a little bundle against her, wrapped in her beautiful soft motherly embrace.

Lucifer's lips part in awe as he silently observes what he sees, very hesitant to disturb the calm peace in the room. Knowing the promise he needed to keep still echoing in the back of his mind. To stay away.

But how could he? Especially seeing his family together like this.

Lucifer swallows the lump in his throat and the painful itch in his nose that threatens to release a sob. Thousands of years have passed for him and yet, he cannot forget the untamable desire to be with the ones he most truly loves with all his heart. He needs this and he knows it. Just for a second. Only for a second.

He carefully and quietly lifts his knees and walks up, finding himself closer to the girls resting on the soft bed. The faint light from the bed lamp scaring away the darkness that surrounds them as Lucifer sits beside Chloe. His hand—like a touch of a feather—runs down the length of the material of her red robe that covers her arm. He continues this until he reaches the end where the small child sleeps. His focus suddenly on the bundle of joy that he now automatically has picked up into his arms.

"Rory."

Lucifer smiles at seeing his daughter. So little, so frail, and yet knowing who she'll become in the future, how strong and well known capable of looking out for herself, he relaxes.

Little Rory stirs slightly in her sleep, unaware of being in her father's embrace.

"Our little Rory."

Lucifer's gaze covers with a glaze as he observes his family sleeping while he wishes whole heartedly to just wake them up as if it was Christmas day and smutter them with love. The love that he has waited to give them for so long. But he knew that the right time for that was far away.

He promised Rory to do the right thing. It was her wish after all. But little did she know that her dad promised something else on that day too.

"I will always be there." Lucifer leans in, placing a warm kiss against Rory while he continues to whisper sweet nothings to her, protectively holding his little girl closer to his chest as a wave of paternal instinct kicks in. "Even if you can't see me."

His gaze moves from Rory to Chloe as Lucifer's promises belong to both of them. He's quickly reminded by the memory of Trixie and he makes a promise to check up on his little Urchin as well. After all they been through, all three of them where his family. Tied by love.

I've missed you all so much.

Before coming here tonight, Lucifer had decided to only check up on them for a few minutes but now, he remains with his family until morning would come.

And there sits Lucifer, dreading the feeling of needing to leave Chloe and Rory again, but he knew they would one day be together again for eternity. And there was nothing that would stop him from leaving their sides when that day came.

As if sensing her father's distress, Rory's little hand grabs ahold of Lucifer's index finger in strong hold—as strong as a baby's can be—and seems like she isn't going to let go of him anytime soon.

His lip curves at the small gesture, even if it was from reflex, Lucifer didn't dare to reject her. Instead, he held her closer to him while his other hand found Chloe's, mindful not to wake her. If any of them did at that moment, he would lose it and start crying like they've never seen before.

In what felt like years to him, and not like he's new job in Hell didn't satisfy or make him feel fulfilled, but that Lucifer knew he couldn't feel as happy as being in the presence of the people he cherished the most.

Lucifer remained in the room, memorizing Rory and Chloe in a peaceful picture, while simultaneously protecting them from a distance until the first ray of morning light would touch the cheeks of his family.

Dreaming of the day they would all be reunited again.

How are you all feeling? Tell me. I'm one big open ear.

I know many of you may think that the story should have ended in a different way and the other half think it was a good ending to the story.

For me personally, I liked the ending that they did. And if something was missing, well, I think in one episode their literally teased that there was always fanfiction. Haha.

But seriously, I loved the ending. It was truly bittersweet for this epic story and I'm gonna miss this and keep the memories in my heart forever.

Oh boy, how many new ideas did it give me thought. That's what I love about writing. It can always go a million different ways, and everybody can write in a million different ways.

Be happy that it ended like that. Not many shows have that kind of privilege. And if you didn't like it, then make your own. Who's stopping you? ;)

Be kind and be brave. Take chances and mess up. Mess up good, cause without mistakes we can't learn and move on the other things. So, don't be afraid to f*k up. Just stay true to yourself and be you.

P.S. Lol. I know that was too cheesy.

Love ya!
