Only a distant moon lit up the small town of Mystic Falls as a 5'7, mischievous brunette stepped into the lively bar of Mystic Grill. The last couple of weeks had all gone according to her wishes, but today was special. Elijah and her had been working together to get the cure, and it was time for their fateful meetup. The plan was to offer it to Klaus in exchange for Katherine's freedom and Elijah's freedom to love her as he pleased.

The pair had been working five steps ahead of the Scooby-Doo gang of Mystic Falls all this time. They had recently figured out where Silas and the cure were located, and Katherine would soon make her trip to the island. She smiled at the thought of her and Elijah finally being together, and her getting her freedom. Even though she was a girl who enjoyed the excitement of living on the edge, she would do anything to get rid of Klaus, and it looked like the time had finally arrived to get her wish fulfilled.

She sat down on a green bar stool and waited for the original brother. "One drink please," she ordered the bartender.

As Katherine smiled to herself, fantasizing about her future with Elijah, she felt a chill go down her spine. Getting the sensation that someone was watching her, she quickly looked around before her eyes set on one specific man across the room. There was no way... right?

She squinted her eyes as she watched the man observing her move closer. Katherine couldn't believe it, it was just her luck. The only person she had ever feared was walking towards her, and before she could even process how or why, he took a seat next to her. Shivers traveled down her entire body as he murmured her name gently like he hadn't chased her around the world for 500 years.

"Katerina. Pleased to see you here," he said nonchalantly as he took a seat. His eyes had long moved away from her and were now directed at the bartender as he ordered himself a drink as well. Katherine, however, sat at the edge of her seat and stared at him. Somehow she couldn't bring herself to run, she was too paralyzed with fear. Maybe it was also partly the fact that she knew it was pointless. If Klaus wanted her, he would have her, no matter if she put up resistance or not.

Katherine had only come out of hiding because she thought Klaus was trapped in the Gilbert house. It was a risk to show herself in town while he was still there, and she had known that, but she didn't know luck would fail her this bad.

"Klaus," she trembled, although she tried not to. Katherine tried to hide her fear by focusing on Klaus's disheveled look instead. Something was different about him. He looked... weaker, in a way. Sadder. "Something's wrong. What happened?"

Klaus let out a dry chuckle in response. "You do know me too well," he said bitterly before answering with a sigh. "Your newly-turned-vampire doppelganger and her brother drove a white oak stake through my brother's heart," he said, seemingly unfazed although Katherine could see through his facade.

Katherine's eyes widened, her heart racing. "Elijah?" she whispered.

Klaus shook his head, "Kol," he mumbled.

They sat in silence for what felt like minutes to Katherine but were closer to seconds before the bartender placed the two drinks in front of them. Klaus took a sip before opening his mouth yet again.

"Enough about me. What is the elusive Katherine Pierce doing alone in a bar at 1 am?" he asked with a smirk. It was clear to Katherine that he was just playing with her, but she could do nothing but answer.

Katherine fiddled with one of her curls and avoided his eyes. "I was supposed to meet someone here, but he's yet to show up," she answered. It was true. She had been praying in secret that Elijah would show up any second and get her out of the situation before Klaus did something.

"And may this person be my foolish brother Elijah?" Klaus was amused when he saw the expression Katherine made at the mention of her lover.

"How did you know?" she gulped.

"I know everything sweetheart. I thought you knew this by now," he brushed off, taking his time finishing his drink before he got to his feet. "Unfortunately, you won't be seeing him any time soon."

In a swift motion, he grabbed her arm and sped them out of the bar before snapping her neck. Klaus quickly caught her before she hit the ground and carried her to the back of his car before anyone noticed a thing.

It was all too perfect. After witnessing his brother's cruel murder and then getting trapped in the Gilbert living room by the Bennett witch, Klaus needed an outlet for his frustration. What better way to ease his anger than finally capturing his nemesis after 500 years? Unfortunately for Katherine though, Klaus wasn't in the same good mood he'd been in the last time he kidnapped her. He had not forgotten his promise to make Katerina Petrova's life a living hell for half the time he had used to chase her. Her death was about to start soon, and it would be anything but pleasant.

Katherine blinked twice before waking up in a bright room. She raised her head to quickly scope her surroundings before trying to get up, and it was then she realized her ankles were chained to the bed she was on. It was strange for sure, but another thought was more prominent in her mind. Elijah must be worried.

She felt an agonizing pain in the side of her abdomen, which made sitting up straight painful. She then attempted to break free from the chains wrapped around her ankles, but they were impossible to break. She assumed Klaus had put a spell on them.

Exhausted and overwhelmed with pain she laid back down, trying not to focus on the excruciating throbbing in her stomach. Instead, she focused on what Klaus could want with her. He probably wanted revenge after she had fled from him yet again, although Katherine had a sneaking suspicion that Klaus had known she was on vervain. Maybe he had been too busy breaking the sun and the moon curse to get revenge on little old her. Perhaps that was why he had let her go so easily.

They had always had the most complicated relationship, the two of them. Whenever he was in a playful mood, he would tease her to make her uncomfortable, vice versa. However, other days he would act wicked, torturing and controlling her like enemies usually do. And other moments were just unexplainable, where the atmosphere was strange and they could feel the lust in the opposite's breath. Although neither of them would ever admit it, something dark and twisted existed between them. A blurred line between love and hate. They can't stand each other, yet they still can't bring themselves to kill one another. Perhaps it's because they both share the burning wish to not be alone in the forever. Even if it means the person you hate the most is the one you share eternity with, it feels better knowing you are not alone. They are the same.

Katherine heard the door creak open and lifted her head slightly to look at Klaus. She stared at him with anger in her eyes, trying to calm her racing heartbeat. This was not the time to be emotional. She had to get control of the situation.

"Ah, Katerina, you're awake. About time really," he chatted playfully. "How are you feeling? How pitiful you look, I almost feel sorry for you," he said with a smug expression on his face.

Katherine knew he was testing her, and she wouldn't let him get to her. She wasn't weak.

"Would you like to get out of the chains, maybe?" he continued, keeping his playful tone.

When Katherine nodded, he knelt down at the bottom of the bed and started unlocking the chains. As soon as she was free, Katherine ran as fast as she could to the door, but before she could reach it she fell together in pain. She groaned and held pressure on her stomach where the pain was most she hastily pulled up her tank top she saw a nasty wound, it looked like she had been bitten.

Katherine could feel her knees failing below her. She fell tumbling to the ground, but Klaus used his hybrid speed to catch her just before she hit the floor.

"Poor little thing, can't even stand on your own two feet," he smiled viciously as he looked down on her. She looked up at him with furrowed brows before she tumbled to her feet, pulling herself out of Klaus's arms hastily. She had to sit back down before the pain killed her. It was then it dawned on her that he had bitten her, again...

"No... No, this can't be happening. Please Klaus, just kill me," she begged, knowing her request was dumb because his answer would not be what she wanted to hear.

Klaus just laughed at her. "Your begging is music to my ears, and you do look your best when you're suffering." He paused for a second. "I believe you are well informed of what werewolf venom does to a vampire, Katerina? You will grow weaker with every minute that passes and the pain will only get worse until it gets so bad that you can't move. Only when you are on the verge of death will I feed you my blood. And then, when you have felt the relief of being cured and grown used to it, I'll do it all over again." And with those words, Katherine lost almost all hope.
