"So," Garrus says looking at Nihlus, pointing a talon at Jane standing on the beach in nothing but a really tiny bikini. "That is what humans wear in public...to go swimming?" His subtones are full of admiration but at the same time, he is not appreciating the looks that Jane is getting from other people on the resort. He admitted he was surprised that they headed to the Beach Resorts of Elysium instead of the cold snowy mountains. But he was not complaining at seeing his wife in her swimsuit.
"Spirits!" He growls, as Jane bends down to pick something up on the sand and hand it to Lisa. "It doesn't cover anything! It's worse than the exercise clothes she wears!" He glares at Nihlus as the other Turian laughs at Garrus' clear show of jealousy. When Garrus freezes, Nihlus turns to see what he's staring at. Garrus watches as a human man approaches Jane and from the looks of it, the human man is flirting with Jane. But before he could make a move to stake his claim, Nihlus' hand closes over his wrist. "Let me tell you another thing about Humans," He says attentively trying to distract Garrus. Which somewhat works as Garrus looks at the other Turian with a frown, mandibles pressed tightly. "What is it?" He says, shifting his gaze briefly towards Jane and the human. "Displays of jealousy are a major turn off for some of them," Nihlus gestures towards the scene and watches as the man walks away moments after. "And see? Problem solved."
When the human man leaves, Garrus quickly makes his way to Jane's side. Wrapping a possessive arm around her waist and pulling her against his side. His face lightly nuzzles her neck before he looks down at her with a raised brow plate. "So, anything you want to tell me?" He growls softly, talons lightly flexing into her sides.
Jane laughs, patting his chest. "Hey Big Guy, I was wondering where you were." She raises herself up on tippy toes and plants a kiss on his chin. "And that sorry sack of human asked if I would be interested in drinks." She grinned and tweaked his mandible. "Turned him down, and told him I was happily married."
Garrus feels a slight thrill, and knows his subharmonics are singing. "Happily married, huh? Guess we are doing this sorta right." He gives her a grin and leans down to nuzzle her nose with his. "Maybe the bondmark is making it easy for us, or…" He says reaching for her hand and holding it between them. "Or maybe there has always been something between us." But instead of giving her a chance to answer his comment, he pecks his mouth plates against her lips and pulls away to make his way back towards one of the cabanas for a drink or two.
Jane watches as he walks away, the hand moving to her neck where the mark of his teeth still show. She too had also wondered why it was so easy for them, despite the years they spent fighting and trying to kill each other. But in part, she also couldn't deny that the moment she first laid eyes on him on the battlefield she felt a spark deep in her chest. She fought better, her biotics flared brighter and she had come close to taking him down on a few occasions.
But this revelation shatters something inside her. She loved Kaidan with every fiber of her being, the moment she had laid eyes on him. But, now she could admit that it was a comforting love. A love born of mutual respect for one another. Not one that makes her heart and blood sing the moment he's in vicinity.
"Mommy! Look!" Lisa comes running towards Jane with a shell in her hand. "It's blue! Like Garrus!" The little girl bounces on her tiny feet with her prize. "Can I give it to him?" Jane drops down to her knees to peer closely at the shell and shakes her head. "Oh no, sweetie, I think that's a hermit crab." She says a finger lightly touching a tiny creature that had poked its head out of the shell. "How about you show it to him and then you two can set it free." She gives the girl a smile, brushing her hair off the little girl's face and placing a kiss on her forehead.
"So, they're at a resort? It should be easy even more so in public. Their first instinct is to protect civilians so they won't notice that the child is gone until it's too late." Udina takes a long draw of his cigar and points to Antella. "Your job is to provide distraction so Cerberus can grab the child. Make sure it gets done because they paid a lot of money for a pure biotic."
"Hey guys? Not to be a party pooper, but we've incoming ships heading straight for the resort." Joker's voice comes through their comms. "And when I say ships, I count at least 20. So unless someone is having a massive family reunion…" He continues.
Jane and Garrus look at each other and quickly spring to action. Racing towards their cabin to grab their gear. "Jack, Miranda! Get Lisa to safety," Shepard yells into her comms as she quickly slams on her armor and grabs her guns. "Joker, what are the chances of an evac?" Garrus says as he grabs his armor and weapons.
"We're prepping the engines, evac ETA 15 minutes." He says calmly. Garrus looks at Jane and then nods. This would be their first battle fighting on the same side. "Just try not to shoot the other side of my face," He says with a teasing glint in his eyes. "Haha, funny big guy, it's not my fault you walked into my grenade launcher." Before he could head out, she grabs him by the cowl of his armor and pulls his head down to meet hers. "Stay safe?" She says softly, bright green eyes meeting his blue. "On your six, Jane." He bumps his head against hers before the two charge out the door.
As they clear the door, a shuttle pops up overhead with the door open. A handful of black armored people jump out while one stays on the shuttle and starts shooting at the two. Jane quickly charges the group, her biotics flaring brightly around her sending the group flying into the air. Where Garrus' bullets hit in quick succession, he then aimed at the merc that was still on the shuttle, popping them in the head.
He notices the difference instantly, fighting against Jane on the battlefield was exhilarating. But fighting with her was a whole new experience. He is massively aware of where she is, making it easy for him to keep an eye on her back no matter what the mercs throw their way.
She guides them towards the beach where there seems to be a heavy concentration of fighting. She looks around attempting to find where Jack and Miranda were with her daughter but could not find them anywhere.
"Does anyone have eyes on Jack and Miranda?" She calls into the comms.
"Negative Commander." James and Liara say with worry in their voices.
"Where...are they?!" She calls out, stumbling slightly as a merc slams a bullet into her side.
"Co-..." There is a burst of static. "Ja-.." Another burst. "MOMMMMMYYYY" Lisa's scream echos in the comms before it goes silent.
