Task #2: Colosseum (Italy): Write about a fic set in a theatre of any kind.
Disclaimer: I own no one from Harry Potter. I also don't own Phantom of the Opera.
To say Fleur Delacore was ecstatic when her local theater was performing Phantom of the Opera was a bit of an understatement. It was one of her favorite novels of all time! She even saw every version of the movie and saw the musical plenty of times. The fact that it took place in France was the icing on the cake.
"Gabi, I'm so nervous," she said to her sister as she wrung her hands together.
"You got this," Gabrielle assured her. "No one is as dedicated to this as you are. You will be Christine; go knock them out of the park." She gave an encouraging pat on the shoulder.
This was enough to give the bookworm the confidence to walk inside where the two directors, a man and a woman, sat in the front row. The older woman glanced down at the clipboard she was holding.
"Hello, I'm Fleur Delacore auditioning for Christine," the blonde said. She suddenly lost her nerve as she climbed up on stage.
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Delacore," the woman replied. "My name is Minerva; this is my codirector, Albus."
"Whenever you are ready," Albus said as he placed his hands on his lap.
Taking a deep breath, Fleur began to sing. "Think of me, think of my fondly, when you say goodbye."
As the song went on, the young woman slowly regained her confidence and started to get into the song. In her opinion, Think of Me was the best song in the entire show, even better than the ever popular songs Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night.
"Of me!" Fleur finished with much robust and energy. Slowly regaining her breath, she studied the two directors carefully.
"Very good, Ms. Delacore," Minerva congratulated. "The cast list will go up next week."
"Thank you," Fleur replied with a nervous smile.
The next week, Fleur dragged Gabrielle with her to look at the cast list. She was so nervous that she thought she would throw up. Putting her finger up the paper, she ran down the list.
Meg Giry...Luna Lovegood
Raoul...Neville Longbottom
The Phantom...William Weasley
Christine Daae...Fleur Delacore
The older blonde squealed as she pulled her sister into a hug. "I did it!" She exclaimed.
"Told you," Gabrielle said with a smirk. "You were born to be Christine."
The next week, Fleur met her fellow "core four" actors. She quickly found out that Luna and Neville were dating but Luna was comfortable with Neville having to kiss Fleur as it was only acting.
"It's not real," Luna had said with a smile. "I trust Neville."
William, or Bill as he preferred to be called, captured Fleur's interest immediately. With his long red hair, tall frame and a few scars on his face, he was who Fleur would pick to play the Phantom if she were direct yet another remake.
"You alone can make my song take flight," Bill sang as he walked towards Fleur. "Help me make the music of the night."
The older blonde was so hypnotized by her costar's melodious voice that she almost missed her cue. Blinking, she quickly caught herself.
Fleur, Bill, Luna and Neville quickly became a tightknit group, often getting lunch together and running lines.
"Do you think he likes me?" Fleur asked Luna one day while the two were waiting for their cue in the wing.
"I think so," Luna replied with a nod. "He looks at you when you're not paying attention." She giggled.
As Luna said, Bill asked Fleur out to her excitement. They would double date with Luna and Neville after rehearsals and spend time together on the weekends.
Before Fleur knew it, it was opening night. She resisted the urge to look out at the crowd from the wings; she had to focus... and try to fight the knots in her stomach.
The musical was a blur to the blonde. Before she knew it, it was time for cast bows.
Fleur watched Luna meet Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley, who played Madame Giry and Carlotta respectively, link hands and bow. The women took turns bowing solo before doing a trio bow again. Then, Fleur came out from the wing to meet Bill and Neville and followed suit.
Fleur beamed as the lights shone on the cast. She would enjoy this moment, her first night as Christine and first performance her her newfound friends and boyfriend.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed.
