The story bellow isn´t an AU or a stoyline story, its just a retelling of a scene that happened during the first season (episode 01x08 - Still Waters)

Well, honestly, i suppose its an AU yes, otherwise it would certanly change a lot of aspects on the series.

THE KISS

A soft tune was echoing trough the morgue, when the 32-year-old Detective William Murdoch passed trough the building's door that night and once again, he had to stop a second or two to remind himself why he was there.

The detective took a deep breath, it was hard to concentrate in any police case when it was time to come to the morgue, after all, it was there where worked the woman of his dreams, Dr. Julia Ogden, who he had fall in love since the first day he met. He dream of her almost every night and as a professional, he trained himself to not admire her beauty every time she walked with him toward a crime scene.

However this time, it was quiet impossible to concentrate, since for some reason, Julia was especially beautiful that night and he couldn´t keep his eyes from her. Little did he knew, her feelings for him was truly reciprocate, since the beginning as well.

''Detective…'' Julia suddenly exclaimed, pulling him back to reality, but also startled to see him there. ''What can I do for you?''

''I… I want to know if you have any progress… I see you were working with the lungs…'' he gulped, trying to remain professional.

''Oh, well… The lung is like a bag, Detective.'' Julia said

''So once it's filled with water, there's no mechanism to allow for the exchange of fluids.'' William asked.

''Precisely. The water Mr. Hartley absorbed into his lungs is still there.'' She said.

'' I'm hoping to find traces of silt or vegetation.'' The detective nodded while eyeing her up to down.

''Yes, yes. Something to indicate where he really drowned.'' Julia said squeezing the water out of the lung, trying to not paying attention on the detective.

''Yes, an act of desperation I'll grant, but I am quickly running out of options.'' The detective agreed. ''I'm sorry for making you stay this late, Doctor.''

''Oh, it's no bother. It's not like I have much of a social life these days anyways.''

''You and me both.'' William said without thinking. ''Doctor, I didn't get a chance to earlier, but thank you for arranging Dr. Tash's assistance.'

''Oh. It's my pleasure.'' Julia smiled.

''I take it you were more than acquaintances…'' he felt himself blush.

''Yes…''

'' You and Dr. Tash courted?'' he asked again, not looking at her.

Julia of course, knew the detective was getting jealous and she quiet enjoyed seeing him like that, so she keep talking, while hiding behind a smile. '' It - That was a long time ago.''

''He seems like an intriguing sort.'' The detective raised an eyebrow.

''Yes.''

''And an excellent conversationalist.''

''Detective, i must say, you seem quite taken by Dr. Tash.''

''Julia?''

''Yes?''

Suddenly the word stop, the detective couldn´t hold his desire anymore, neither couldn´t the doctor, so, forgetting everything around them, the detective push the doctor to a tight embrace and they kissed. It was a short but intense moment, for a second, William thought she was going to slap him, but on the contrary, she glued her lips on his, while caressing his head and the intense become stronger than passion.

Still, after just minute, they parted and William suddenly felt very ashamed for his behavior. ''I… I apologize Doctor, it wasn´t my intention.'' He gasped.

''No… its… its quiet alright…'' Julia replied. ''I… I think we should discuss this later.'' She said blushing.

''Yes, of course…'' Murdoch agreed. ''Keep me informed with all updates you have please.'' He said silently and rush out the morgue, with a tube of lung water on hands. How he was able to do that? It was a scandal, an inappropriate behavior and probably scared the woman he loved away.

On the other hand Julia, found herself petrified, she really love the detective, but she never expected him to act with such impulse. She blushed, touching her lips, she knew it was impulsive of her part as well, letting a gentleman kiss her like that, but it was that impulse, that made her love the detective more.

Back at his office an hour later, William sits staring at the tube with the lung water, when someone came in. it was Julia, ready to go home.

''Detective, we need to talk…. About what happened…'' she said.

''Yes, I do apologize for my behavior, it won´t happen again.''

''Well, I was going to say I was delighted…. I never had a kiss like that before… and… and I confess I was afraid you would never do that.'' Julia smiled and in response William smiled back.

''I suppose then we should discuss more about our relationship, Doctor.'' He said with a light heart, happy to realize Julia´s feelings for him were reciprocate.

''I agree, Detective.'' She said.

For the rest of the night, they keep discussing their relationship, forgetting about the case for a while, just focusing on the opportunity of a bright future ahead for them.
