All the Castle family looked at the doctor in concern, all of them had the same thought of what could be wrong. Seeing the pain on his wife's face concerned Castle, so he replied.

" What's going on doctor? and can she get some pain medicine? she has been in pain for hours now. Castle asked.

" Of course she can." doctor Hudson said to the nurse to get some pain medicine for Kate, the nurse nodded and proceeded to exit the room to get Kate the medicine. doctor Hudson looked back to the Castle family and replied. " Now that that is out of the way let's get down to the issue at hand, shall we?" doctor Hudson asked. The Castle family nodded and the doctor continued " Kate what's wrong is your stress level, we looked at the blood test and took some other tests and it showed your stress level is very high. So much so that I'm going to put you on bed rest for a few weeks. Then I want you to schedule an appointment with me to check you and the baby out. doctor Hudson replied.

Kate and Castle both nodded at the same time, Kate was not at all happy about having to be on bed rest. She has always been an outgoing person now to be limited was not going to be fun, that she knew, but she would do it for her baby girl. Kate was so much in her thoughts she didn't hear what the doctor said next, Castle touched her arm to break her out of her thoughts.

" Hey honey, the doctor said he is going to keep you for a few hours for observation. Then if everything looks okay he will send you home." Castle said. Kate nodded her head in reply, she did not trust her voice at the moment. Castle could see the unshed tears in Kate's eyes, it made his heartbreak at the sight.

" Hey, I know what you are doing. Don't do that baby it's not your fault. Kate just shook her head at her husband's statement.

" Yes, it is. If I had focused more on taking care of myself and taking care of our unborn daughter and not worry about the cases this would not be happening. But no what did I do. Instead, I worry more about the murder cases instead of making sure to take care of myself and our baby. If I make a mistake like this so early on in the pregnancy what am I going to do when she is born." Kate replied with tears flowing down her eyes. Before Castle could reply, Kate's eyes widened. She replied in a mild shriek, " O my God I'm already becoming a bad mother." before she could say anything else, Martha came back into the room after talking with the doctor.

" Kathrine you listen to me, and you listen well. You are not becoming a bad mother, not even close. Yes, you are stressed, and yes you could have stayed calmer instead of worrying about your work. But everybody makes mistakes, the important thing to do is learn from them. You and the baby are okay and are going to be okay, that is what's important." Martha replied. Kate nodded at her mother-in-law's words, Castle looked at his mother with gratefulness. Kate was starting to get tired, but the pain in her stomach made it hard to sleep. Castle saw this, he was about to press the call button when the nurse came in with the pain medicine to put in Kate's Iv. Castle sighed in relief that his wife was finally going to be pain-free.

With the pain medicine in her system, Kate was getting drowsy. With that, her eyes started to close but, was trying to fight off the sleepiness she felt. Martha could see that her daughter-in-law was trying to fight to stay awake so she replied.

" Kathrine get some sleep we will be here when you wake up." Kate tried to object but, Martha would not have any of it. " No you and the baby need the rest, the faster you sleep and relax the faster you and Richard can get out of here." Kate nodded at her mother-in-law's words, Castle sending a grateful look towards his mother.

The next day Kate got to go home but she had to be on bed rest, which she did not like very much. But for her baby, she was willing to do it. She knew her family would be right by her side all the way. Castle had promised to stay with her. But Kate wanted him to continue with his new novel, but he didn't like the idea of leaving his wife in bed alone. But Castle wanted to make his wife happy, so he proposed a compromise. He would check up on her every so often during the day while working on his novel but Alexis or his mother had to be with her. Kate didn't like the idea but she was willing to do it to put her husband's mind at peace, she smiled to herself Castle was truly her prince charming, her knight in shining armor.

Later on that day Alexis Martha and their friends came over to check on Kate, Kate knew her friends cared so she didn't make too much of a fuss that they were over worrying in her opinion. but she was glad she had their support. Even her boss came to check on her, her boss told her to take an easy on work and that she will still get paid even if she stayed at home. Kate was getting tired so all her friends bid her and Castle goodbye. The only ones that stayed were Alexis and Martha. Martha looked at Kate sternly and said. " I hope this teaches you Kathrine that no matter how much you are dedicated to your job your health and the baby's health comes first as of right now," Martha said in a stern but soft motherly tone.

Kate nodded at her mother-in-law's statement. Truth be told Kate was happy to have Martha as a mother and mother figure. After her mother died all those years ago there was always that void in Kate's heart of not having a mother in her life. So, she was grateful to have such a wonderfully kind woman like Martha in her life. Added to that she has a wonderful stepdaughter and husband and a baby girl on the way. Kate Couldn't be any more happy or grateful for the friends and family that she has.

Kate then closed her eyes and slept with a smile upon her face.
