Introduction

"I don't know why you just don't go Marty, you are always talking about it." Marty Robert's best friend Reagan said as they sat side by side on the school bus bench. "We both know that you are unhappy, you are always done with everything before we are and you just sit there and then you get into trouble." Marty sighed and leaned her back against the sticky leather, Reagan was right ever since she could remember she was always the first one done in everything that they did and grew bored and started acting out. And it usually ended up with her getting asked to wait in the hallway or sitting in the principal's office.

Her father, Terry thought it was just for attention because she didn't get enough attention from either him or his wife Anne. This was true, they had adopted several children and one of them had their hands full all the time. And Marty was left to her own devices most of the time which was okay at first but now she needed that attention and needed to be around her family. And Terry refused to do it, she wasn't the top property.

"It's not like they would miss you," Reagan said softly as the bus rolled to a stop to let them off, her eyes caught a flashy sports car sitting in front of the beat-up house that Marty and her family lived in. "Who is visiting you?"

"I have no idea, no one in the family can afford something like that," Marty answered as she stood up and tucked her hair behind her ears. "Maybe they won the lottery." "Doubt it. I am not that lucky." She returned pushing her shoulder to get her moving.

Terry was standing on the front porch with his arms folded. "Marty now." "Jesus Marty, what the hell did you do?" Kyle one of the boys that rode their bus asked. "Don't know," Marty said shoving her hands deep into the pockets of her jacket and starting up the cracked pathway to her house. "I didn't do anything!" "I don't care get inside."

Taking a deep breath, she climbed the rickety stairs and went into the house, her mother and two younger siblings were sitting on the couch across from the love seat that held Pepper Potts and Lennon Stark, the inclusive daughter of Tony Stark. "Okay, why are Pepper Potts and Lennon Stark in our house?" Marty asked coming to shortstop and her backpack dropping to the ground. She knew the woman by sight because she followed Stark Industries and knew that she was Tony Stark's assistant. And she knew Lennon from the few articles that came out about her.

"There is something I need to tell you." Anne Roberts said, rubbing her hands against the torn material of her skirt. For once Marty didn't ask what it was, instead she was quiet, her jaw working furiously like she was keeping herself from saying and getting punished in front of the woman she admired.

"Terry isn't your father." Anne started as she stood up and started pacing the length of the couch.

"Then who is?"

Anne's dark eyes cut to where Pepper and Lennon were sitting and Marty started laughing. "No, Mom, you are lying." "It's true, I meet Tony one night and one thing lead to another."

"Ew mom, gross." Marty's younger sister Ty said pulling a face. She was in that phase where everything that had to do with boys grossed her out. And the fact that her mom was talking about things that she did in the past made her even more grossed out.

"I don't believe it." The oldest Roberts girl muttered as she started tapping her fingers against the material of her pockets. "From what Tony can recall, he does remember your mother and he would like you to get a blood test done." Pepper said, speaking up for the first time. Marty looked at her and then at her mother and then at the man that she thought was her father. Then back at Pepper.

"What happens if I am who she says I am?"

"Then we will talk about it."

Marty chewed on the inside of her cheek as she raised her eyes to the ceiling, she looked back down and nodded her head, "I will do it."

She needed to know the truth, if she was really Tony's daughter or if her mother was playing some sort of cruel joke on her.

She needed to know who she was.
