Carry on Dancing
She turned to face him as he twirled her across the dance floor. Their eyes connected and they both knew this would be their last dance. As if sensing each others thoughts they clung onto each other like lost souls. They were lost, they were lost in each other.
Other people were there but it was as if they were in their own world. They didn't have a thought for the other people at the party. It was just the two of them.
He ran his hand down along her arm as the moonlight shone through the huge glass windows onto the dance floor illuminating the couple. It lit them up and they bathed in its light.
The mood tonight was something more than had been seen before, the atmosphere was tense.
She flung her head back and saw the stars and planets lighting up the sky. He pulled her in and stole a kiss. The echoes of which resonated through his being.
He had to keep her dancing, he didn't want to let go, he didn't want to let her go and he knew they would both have to leave as soon as this dance finished. He kept her moving, not letting her lead, for this moment he would take the lead and he would not stop her dancing, they were going to carry on as long as he could keep her going. On and on he would keep her dancing.
It was never going to be safe again after this. Whether they would live to see the dawn was a question he didn't want to ask. Time was running out and he knew what was coming. He didn't want to lose hope, hope was all he had left. She was his hope, without her he knew everything would fall to ruin. She carried the weight of his planet on her shoulders and so he would protect her with his life.
He twirled her round and round and pulled her in close. He would do whatever he could to keep her dancing. He would carry on dancing until they were all that was left.
They were strong, they were passionate, they were everything. Everyone in the room knew it, but this was only something they could do. Her dress rippled out around her as the couple flew across the dance floor.
Closer. Passion. Stronger.
Every time she danced through the moonlight she seemed to glow. It gave her power, strength, beauty. He didn't want that to end for her, he didn't want her to give her life for him, but he knew without a doubt that that was what she was going to do. Nothing he could say would change that. He clung to her as she moved to the music.
He was certain that this was the last time they would ever be together.
There was a magic between them that only they could tell. It was all around them, they were always meant to be. If he could stay here with her like this then he wished the dance would never end. The night was dark but the Stars and planets were taking shape, that stolen kiss was taken too late, soon it would be time. He could feel her whole being resonating.
He just had to keep her dancing, he had to carry on, because it would be over before it had begun as soon as he let her go. Voices whispered all around them, the time was coming near, the time to let her go was coming. He had to keep dancing, he had to carry on, carry on forever. Again and again he spun her around never letting her get further than an arms length away from his body. Around and around they danced, never losing contact. On and on, on and on, on and on.
The song was coming to an end but it would never end for them. They had only each other.
