At the end of class Sunil went to the cafeteria with Russell for lunch. "So whatcha got planned now with Pepper man?" Russell asked. He was excited as always when something happened with Sunil. "Well I asked her if she wanted to go somewhere tonight so I guess that". They saw Vinnie there waiting for them "Hey my bros! What's going on?" Vinnie said to catch as much attention as possible. Sunil and Russell sat down after getting a tray "Well Vinnie, Sunil has got a new gf and you probably won't believe who it is". Vinnie just started guessing too much he probably named like 20 to 30 girls in their school except the one. "Alright alright...shut it! Thank you Jesus Christ I never knew you could count that high. I'm kidding...anyway her name it's Pepper Clark you know her". Vinnie gave him a stare he probably won't forget "You fuckin with me right?" Vinnie said. Sunil had no idea what was wrong here "Man I bet she will never even give you a hug man. What you doing being sweet on Pepper Clark?". "Really you gonna be like that Vinnie? She asked me out man sure she isn't what you expect but hell she's nice to me" Sunil said as he started to grab his things. "Wait wait wait...Sunil where are you going?" Russell asked "I'm leaving. I have no reason to stay here and listen to this Russell...I mean god damn it…what happened to being supportive Vinnie?". Vinnie shook his shoulders as they watched Sunil leave the table. Russell asked vinnie why he would do such a thing like that all he had to say was "Hey man it's his lost of time Russ that's just it"
Sunil just went out to the hallway of the school after such a bad moment. He sat on the floor pissed off. "Why would he act like that?" He wondered "Hey kid, no hard feelings about it but I think Vinnie has changed and not worth it" said Fred. Sunil kinda agreed with him as Vinnie has never done things like that. "So I guess I won the bet eh?". Sunil said "What bet?" Fred knew he had some feelings about Pepper; it was just hard to show it. "She's nice to me and I always felt bad for her". "So you got a date tonight with her? I heard what you're gonna do?" Fred asked. Sunil was hoping to take her on a drive. He really had no idea where they would go but they could figure it out. As the bell rang he just sat there while they walked past him for a bit. He sat there even seeing Russell and Vinnie walk by him. He gave them no reaction but that was best to him. Someone stopped beside him and he looked up to see Pepper as she told him "Hello" he smiled small at her and stood up. He asked "Hey, do you mind if I walk you to class?" Pepper said to him "Really...would you?". Sunil loved to walk her to class and as they started walking he held her hand. She got a bit red as she looked down then to Sunil. He smiled at her and they walked to her next class.
Sunil was home after school cleaning his car for tonight. Once he got his car cleaned that Dark red paint just popped on his Camaro so much. "Man you think it's good enough Son?" His dad asked. Sunil laughed "You like the car dad? I got a good deal for 4 grand". "4 grand huh...it's a bit fast looking don't ya think?". Sunil loved the car no matter how others thought of it "You got something big planned or you just cleaned?" His dad asked "No just cleaning but i'm going over to Russell house tonight if you didn't mind". His father didn't care too much about him going then left Sunil to his car. Pepper was trying to think of what she could do to impress Sunil but she didn't have much jewelry, formal clothes, or even make up. But she just thought if Sunil didn't mind why did she need those things so she will just go as herself. She went downstairs to ask her mother something. "Hey mom," she said. Her mother was on her phone "Yes dear?" She said. "Umm would you mind if me and Zoe can go out tonight?" Pepper asked. Her mother didn't mind her going out so Pepper had that taken care of. She went back upstairs to get ready and she wanted to listen to music before she went. She put in one of her cassettes and played it while getting ready. "Oooo you come on like a dream, peaches and cream. Lips like strawberry wine...you're sixteen, your beautiful, and your mine…". She saw her phone buzz. She saw it was Sunil messaging her and it said "Hey Pepper are you ready?". She replied to him "Yeah I am, can you do something though when you get near can you park a street away?". Sunil asked her to be at the bus stop by her house so she said she would. It was around 6pm and Pepper was by the bus stop. She saw headlights far away and as they got closer she realized it was an old car and it was from the 50s. She was so excited if Sunil had a car from the 1950s and as the car got closer it just drove past her and an old man was driving it. As the old car left Sunil pulled around the corner and he saw Pepper waiting. He stopped and Pepper admired his Camaro "Wow…you have a pretty car Sunil" Pepper said. "Yeah I cleaned it a bit more for tonight". Pepper promised not to mess it up even when Sunil didn't think she could. He opened the door for her and got on his side. "So do you wanna go get something to eat?" Sunil offered. "Umm...I mean if you want to eat we can but it doesn't have to be nice, a drive thru is okay " said Pepper. He was a bit relieved by that because last time he paid nearly a hundred dollars on his first date. He started driving off offering Pepper the radio but she was fine for now. They got to the restaurant and went to the drive thru "Uhhh I'll have a number 7 with a Sprite. Pepper, what do you want?" Pepper didn't eat much so she just wanted a small fry "Ohh it's fine don't worry about making me broke it's for you. Atleast get a burger please. I want you to eat.". Pepper agreed to get one but Sunil was just surprised by her being so generous to him. "Hey, instead of eating here, how about we go to a park nearby?". "A park? Okay we can" Pepper said.
He drove her to the park to eat and spend time together. "I'm glad you're eating Pepper. And this is a nice spot I think". "It's very pretty here, Sunil and I thank you so much for today... Can I play something?". Sunil had no problem so Pepper pulled a cassette out of her pocket to put in his car. "It's an old song so I hope you don't hate it" Sunil said "I won't you play it i would love to listen to it" She played it and they Listened "First… A... boy and a girl meet each other then they sit down to talk for a while in your heart you want her for a lover….while each step brings you closer….to the aisle" Sunil thought the song was beautiful He looked at Pepper though and she looked sad "Hey...what's wrong Pepper". Pepper spoke in a sad voice " I never thought I could ever be here...with you…". Sunil was confused by what she meant " Everyday was like a dream for me. I didn't think I was good enough…" Pepper said. Sunil put her arm across her "Pepper i'm really happy you came to me today and told me how you feel about me...and I always thought you were sweet and cute I just...never thought you would feel the same" As the radio played her song she looked at him smiling then laid her head on his shoulder. "I've never been so happy before...thank you". Sunil held her tight "You're welcome..". "Then you put a ring on her finger. And the tears start flowing...awhile….And you'll know she is just for you. While Each step...brings you closer...to the aisle ..."
