"So... you're from the future?" "A possible future." I corrected as I went through the files on my left holo-glove. "Well, technically it isn't possible anymore since I traveled back to stop it but, yeah, I'm from the future." She quietly took a sip of tea. "Do you have any proof?" I pressed the wrong button and was sent back to the homescreen. "Sigh, well I helped beat Neo didn't I?" She scoffed. "Well you didn't exactly have to be from the future to do that. Unless your telekinesis is some form of advanced technology." "Psychokinesis." I corrected as I finally found the file I was searching for. "And no, it's not tech I brought it was intel. Without me, G.U.N. wouldn't know where to look, and by the time they found him it would've already been too late." I pressed the display button, and a faint image was projected onto the ceiling above. I moved to close the nearby curtains with my right hand, and the projection cast a dark blue light on the interior of the room. "But I do have proof, right here." I pointed the projection away from the window, and an image of one of the seven great Deadspots filled the wall. Her eyes widened as she bore witness to the vast grey crater, spotted with the shining multicolored lights of LPs and the roaming Caravans crashing against each other like angry night skies. As for the actual sky, it was like looking at a fractal of unending colors, some of which didn't even exist in our spectrum. "That's the end of the world?" "Well, not all of it of course." She gave me a strange look. "And you had to stop it from happening because...?" "What do you- oh!" I slapped my hand against my forehead. "Man I'm dumb, of course you wouldn't know." Her ears perked up with intregue. "Know what? Are these," She waved her hand towards a clump of LPs. "things, dangerous?" "I, well... it's complicated. I think it'd be better if I showed you." She poured herself a second cup of tea. "Do you have any more pictures?" I gave her what I hoped to be a confident smile. "I have videos." She glanced at her watch and a slight knot formed in my stomach. "I'll have to go in a bit, but I should have enough time for one video." That perked me up a bit. "Really?" "Sure, only if it's not too long mind you." I nodded an went to work picking the right recording. "There's a lot of information to go through, but I think I can find a particular job to explain most of what happend after the Boom." She raised an eyebrow. "The Boom?" "The simple term for the end of the world. I can't show you the Boom itself though, since it destroyed any visual or auditory recording device in the area when it happened." She looked down, deep in thought. "Silver, why are we friends?" Whatever I thought she was going to ask, it certainly wasn't that. "W-what do you mean?" She gave me a worried look that made me that made me feel worried. "You approached me in the pursuit of study, did you not?" "I-uh, I mean, of course." The look she gave me was enough to say she saw through the lie completely. "So, what's the actual reason?" "It's just, I wanted to show you this." She exhaled sharply through her nose. "I gathered that, I want to know why."

My blood went cold.

Ever since I met her in this time line, I knew that she would have to find out eventually. But now that we were here, talking about it, I just couldn't find the words. Where would I even begin? How could even hope to explain something like this, to anyone, much less her. So,I didn't try to. "Do you really want to know?" "Well yes. is like some sort of contrived manipulation tactic or a-" But I had already found the recording. It was the longest and last job I ever had, and the reason I had done, well, everything. The recording started to play, and all of the memories came flooding back.

Authors note.

This story is set in it's own unique cannon, with places and rules being either created or changed to help create a better narrative. The one thing I intend not to change is the characters of the Sonic franchise. While I do intend their place in the world to be different, they as people remain the same unless something happens along their journey to change them.

I look forward to your feedback going forward.
